Ok. About a month ago I completed an absolute beginner's introductory video to Third Strike. The specific focus was to highlight risky gameplay and to show how badly that gameplay would fair against a competent opponent. I play new players often and I see this to be the single biggest failing amongst newcomers.

I've been sitting on the video for a long time, with the intention of adding post effects, fades and so on. To cut a long story short, this hasn't happened. I wasn't able to find the time or the tools to polish the video to my satisfaction, so I'm just going to release it 'as is' and leave fancy video editing for anything I produce in the future.

The video is somewhat raw, but the content should be helpful to new players in learning the basic. There are no character specific sections, just the fundamentals. If you could find the time to post any feedback, it may be useful if I ever choose to add further videos of a similar vein.

I've seen this video, yeah. It focuses on game mechanics rather than competitive play. That's the main difference between the two.

I find that new players have a shallow understanding of how special and super cancels work - at least enough to use some of them (Fierce Shoryuken into Shoryu Reppa is a common one). Having a more thorough understanding of how and why this works however, isn't in itself helpful during play. At least, not without intricate knowledge of exactly what your character can special and super cancel.

I've said right off the bat, that the single biggest failing among new players is that they're utterly oblivious to where they take huge risks. It takes running into a player capable of punishing well - consistently - to demonstrate this aspect of safe strategy to them. Once that's under the belt, players can start to worry about what their character can cancel safely and what they need to reserve for punishment scenarios. ...But that's maybe something for a 'part 2'?

good work and thanks for taking the time to do it.
that chunli d.HP xx SBK doesnt always work, only cause the move has so many frames, and if it does its best to xx SA2

also HIT confirming, can people not use negative edge for that ? i never got the grasp of that but neither do i have the grasp of doing it on the spot :X

Video is too raw for my taste =P Needs to have some elevator music or something at the intro and at the text spots. -_-; The fonts weren't too eye-pleasing either. But nice job on cutting out all of those long punishment (with Ryu SA2) scenarios =P

Would've been cool if you added a 'Quotes from XBL Pros' section -_-; I thought my tennis reference was pretty sweet.

Edit: Now send this video to gamefaqs =P ^You can hit confirm with negative edge? >.< I've been doing it off reaction >.<

Nice one to all for taking the time out to make that...maybe make one for intermediate players if possible...?
