the color line up is different on the ps2 port than the arcade version. That site went by the colors selected by pressing A/B/C/D then START+A/B/C/D, we still haven't figured out which color is which for each button on the port... :sad:

start button doesnt seem to be the one to trigger the alternate colors, i think its L1 + ABCD (default buttons)

So you guys were talking about the flash step combo earlier... and I was wondering where you guys having problems getting it to go far enough? or getting it to stop so quickly, cause for the stopping like right away thing if you do b and then do qcf+a+c at a certain point during the hitstop it seems to just sort of auto stop for you.... takes sometime to get used to the timing but it seems to work. If your talking about getting more distance why can't you just do a normal 236a ~A+C this lets you move a bit closer and its not that hard... Of course i'm the noob who can't do the heel loop yet so just ignore me. Oh and of course that A+C method works for the qcb version as well.

Also of funny not for anyone wanting to make a combo video, off a 5c lilica can do 236a~A+C and link an A not that useful in a match I would think because it has to be a point blank C i'm pretty sure (or the timing just gets really tight). And another useless piece of info, a few times I've gotten lilica to link 623+a, 236+a into 623+b, 236+b but then they were really high so I doubt you could follow it up with anything, the timing for it is a little wierd and I can't figure out why it doesn't work all the time, but there ya go.

also... been playing water arcana: pretty much with fiona it's like going to basics... use your bubbles to get in.. and use mad mixup between tech traps.... either a) get hit by a 5c or dp or B) tech into water grab super...it's a pretty sweet offer that it gives.. cuse if they don't tech nothing really happens... in fact... that just gives free bubbles as the sit there expect another 5c (that's if you weren't quick enough to think about another 5c then you just bubble then.)

im still i little confused about the 3c charged on hit.. does it naturally delay that long before they fly or is it the port..?

Are you referring to her air combo, or doing that off the ground? Because in the air combo you do 623A 236A 236B and then HC8 and then 8 for that double jump and you can keep going.

Someone needs to find the EXACT CONDITIONS for Kamui water charged 6c freezing the game. I don't want anyone abusing something like this in tourney, and i dont wanna ban the use of moves/arcana either, so if someone could elaborate on this glitch (mainly woof since he was the one that found it out) it would be greatly appreciated. thx.

on another note, seasons beatings sounds so hype too. wish i could go...
but robs not going either, so i guess it aint too bad. i wanted to get hype though. . i expect the tourney to be bigger than the past tourney this weekend with at least 32 ppl...so yeah, get hype or something.

yeah i know. ive watched my match a billion times, haha...but in the end i lost 1st round like most foreign qualifiers =/ . i guess in the end i can take solace in the fact that i did so well despite being the heavy underdog, and they dont think we are scrubs anymore (earlier in the thread, when we were talking about sbo quals, some random guy on the arcana jbbs called the americans "keyboard crushers.." ha :P

i was surprised to see that there were actually 2 yorikos in sbo (forgot their names). they both ended up losing to lilica in the first round, but one of them came really close.

the opponent was time lilica, and she destroyed yoriko in the first round; yoriko busts out pentagram throughout the match and wins second round. in the third round, she was up about 3/4 life vs 1/5 life with 25 seconds left in the match, then lilica catches the yoriko player in a air combo and sets a time super and tosses her to the ground. when the time bomb went off, there was something like 12 seconds left in the match and yoriko still had about 1/3 life left. lilica proceeds to heel cutter loop her and kills her with 2 seconds left in the match.

I thought it was pretty obvious the conditions for freezing the game when Eric explained it, but I guess I'll do it.

A water arcana's charged 6c (you can probably try a 3C also, didn't try it yet) against a time arcana user's backdash afterimage screws up the game. I'm sure it has something to do with the game being confused about whether or not it wants to make the afterimage get a slowdown effect or not, which is probably just bad programming.

It's your timing. The window between 236B and 236C is really tight.

HeartNana is, in fact, very knowledgeable about AH. I try to make mental notes of things that he and others mention, but I get overloaded all the time.

I need some serious training for the tourney. Practicing the same combos (and dropping them in training mode) isn't going to cut it for me. I need to start learning set-ups and rush downs and such. AND stay on top of my schoolwork:rofl:

it's just has really slow input recognition for iad... to me it feels like it's slower than mb.

if you want to iad off a jc'able normal, you can even do 668.

i usually do 696, which is the same i was doing for melty blood. it buffers for iad twice.

Yes, the stick is great!! The gate is so cool!! DP motions aren't so bad anymore...but I hate accidentally tilting the stick on my lap and trying to do a motion, just for the character to do something else totally random:crybaby: I've practiced a little with Maori and Fiona. Can't say I'll be using them in particular...especially Maori. I don't have the patience for trying to learn her loop anymore:bluu: I CANNOT WAIT for Saturday!!!

On a side note, my friend thinks I should stick with Liselotte. I think she's easy to play, which surprised him. Good look on the avatar:lovin: Yeah, those types of gamers exist everywhere....even in fuggin' Pokemon of all games. The gamefaqs boards were horrible for that (thank goodness I stopped playing it back in July). I learned a bunch of stuff just by watching match vids on YouTube. I was doing Saki's BnB IAD combo within my first hour of playing the PS2 port of the game...I was just that damn dedicated. But no Flash Step combos yet:lol: I'll get it within a year. All you need to know is this:


Lieselotte is number one in Full, and Fiona and Yoriko are at the bottom of the barrel. Kira, Kamui, and Konoha are considered "The Three K's" (S-Tier). Everybody else is conviently considered "mid-tier", or "balanced". This all, or course, is without Arcana taken into account. This is the general tier list floating around the loli net.

If you want my honest opinion...I've seen at least one exceptional player for each character, and anyone can mop the floor with anyone. Except Lieselotte, Maori, and Lilica. One hit with them leads into loops, convinient resets, and easy set-ups. This last statement is my opinion, of course:bgrin:

I actually like to call her "the offspring of Eddie":rofl: For starters, she has a basic overhead set-up with the plant Arcana (using 214 D in the air, then overhead while they're crouch blocking). And pretty much anything allowing her to use KoD set-ups. Gier is ok for charged 6C set-ups, like everyone else.

It's like Chibi said, sit down and fuck with the game. That's the most fun part actually, fucking with loli's:rofl:........:sweat: Seriously though, the fun part is finding things with the different Arcana after you've got the basics down with a character.

Lies isn't a character you can just 'sit down and fuck with' if you're just learning the game (like me). I can sit down and fuck with Mei-Fang and Saki all day, but Lies is going to take a little bit of guidance for me anyways. I had to 'fuck with' Eddie for almost a year before I got really good with him, I don't know if I want to go through that with any character again lol.

Today I went to one of my favorite games stores (Next Wave, sickhouse games store, have a full arcades worth of neo geo, CPS2-3 cabinets in the back, all for sale, hot shit, really)

And they had several Japanese titles for the PS2 in, (Last Blade 1 & 2, Arcana Hearts, Melty Blood, and a Neo Geo collections Garou! WOW.)

What I need to know, is what if any modifications need to be done to a slim ps2 to use a freeloader disc to change my region setting. (A link to a helpful website would be great)

PS- since I know nothing about the PS2 freeloader, a point in the general direction of what program I need to throw on a DVD would kick a little ass too.:wgrin:

Games like Arcana hearts make me excited to get the ball rolling on some Japanese only PS2 titles! (I have only imported on the GC and DC, both with loader discs, natch.)

I got my ass handed to me on a silver platter. After J. Wong and Flow (?) got done handing the silver platter to me, they asked "Would you like seconds?":rofl: I left Momo's after I lost the second time....it was hot, and I was getting a headache.

I've seen this already, but its a awesome video nonetheless. This is something that people want me to aim for, but getting there isn't so easy unless I get AHF at my house.

I had Rogueyoshi over my house Friday night, and I sat up all night practicing execution with Yoriko and rock loops/pents. As of right now I can get about three pents off in one round, and I'm at about 90% execution. Just having the game for one night really changes things, so it's obvious that if I get the game permanently, I'll be a much stronger force to be reckoned with.

The next gathering in the EC that I hope everyone'll come to is the free-play day at University Pinball, which is the 12th, a Tuesday. I'm hoping that people come out to make it(mainly the NYC/DE/NJ people), and hopefully I'll have the camera for more recording(actually its very possible).

When I were down in the dumps after having been beasted on all weekend at and after SSN, I felt that Yoriko could never win if her gimmicks were figured out by the opponent. I don't think this anymore. Pentagrams DO make a difference, and if I can win rounds without it, it's damn sure that I can be a beast with it. I accept no more excuses from myself now, either I make myself a user of pentagrams or I quit Yoriko. Simple as that.

EDIT: I still can;t do pents on UP's sticks. They're way too tight for anything.

Random things happening while playing Zaelar:

-= Zaelar will be in the corner and call Gier out and hold it, I'll IAD foward, then jump up to bait Gier. Gier comes out, he dashes under, I jump up again. Zaelar is now facing the corner, and so am I. I jump a third time and I'm STILL facing the damn corner. I've lost count of how many times this happened, and I'm sure it's common place by now, but god it's annoying.

-= 214+AB with Fiona beats out almost anything. I've had it clash with Gier, then hit Zaelar. It's clashed with his unblockable, then not him for a few hits, then suddenly hit him. It's beat out GC into super.

-= 236+A randomly crossing up Konoha when up close.

-= Konoha facing the opposite direction in the air and still being able to do her entire damn BnB (go ahead and explain that one to me).

Also Gier Konoha is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :looney:. After BnB in the corner he does super, holds it, I tech when I fall to the ground, and then I either try and GC back to avoid unblockable charged C (at which point he simply lets go of Gier) or GC fowards to clash with unblockable and still get hit with Gier anyway, unless I'm lucky enough to grab him. Also doing it midscreen when he can just teleport and leaving me wondering which way to block is D: .

Well...I wouldn't quite say it was my first time learning her. I've actually had most of my wins with her during casuals against my friends. I just decided that I'd use her instead of Kamui, although I had practiced with Kamui about 90% of the time playing the game. Not to mention I've been watching YouTube match vids since February (they haven't totally helped me as of yet though). I just got a dose of reality at the core of the game's defensive play, and realized that I didn't have any:crybaby: I won't give up in this game like I have in 3rd Strike:bgrin:

situation was actually totally different this time.

fugee said taht 11 ppl signed up for arcana and that it would be winner take all..im like wait a second..thats not right.
so im thinking off the top of my head who would possibly enter.
at that time i counted myself jwo, noel, orka, tiggy, nas, brandon, david (from philly), jake, kyle, and one other person who i was forgetting. im like wait this cant be right, no way it can be this small.

we look over the prereg sheet again..its now up to 14 ppl.
then 2 ppl come and sign up and pay me the money, now im up to 16 ppl.
heres where things start getting a little hectic/out of control - halfway into the first round, ppl come up to me like "i signed up for arcana, why am i not in the bracket?" i asked them did u pay, they said yeah...so i brought up a few guys to fugee and he said yeah they did enter. what he forgot to tell me at the time was that he just remembered them preregging, not necessarily paying..hence why they werent on the sheet, but i just said okay and added them to the list at the time. not really stressing abotu him forgetting but at the time it was too hectic (which is why he asked me to run it.) between this time and next MORE ppl come up to me saying they signed up for ah. i signed them all up. at this point, i was pretty mindfucked and i wondered if i forgot adding ppl in the bracket, i just fucked up, or both.

so i ask nagata lock to help me with the bracket since theres so many ppl added...we had to redo it into a 32 man bracket at this point.

for some reason, on the rewritten bracket, capps (i didnt know his irl name at the time, but its andy right?) was not on the rewritten bracket. jose's (PaRt2) name was also on the bracket, and i lsot him in the brackets. i refunded his money as well.
all in all there was mad confusion and i wasnt sure who REALLY did sign up anymore, since the chicks who did the registration left. after the tourney, fugee came up to me and asked me how many ppl entered...i said 24, and he asked me how many people paid me. after that, we came to the conclusion that some money was missing. not sure if everything got lost in the chaos of everything, or if some ppl really didnt pay and were trying to get over...but i dont think it would be anyone whos been posting in this thread necessarily. fugee still made up for the difference out of his own pocket (thanks a lot man! but i didnt know how much of a money deficit there was between this and actual paid entries.)

there were also 2 kyle's in the same tournament so it got a bit confusing at the end.

and arcana didnt finish until like, what, 130am this time too? we had 1 setup for most of the day and got 2 setups about 60% of the way through..still had a loooong way to go. AND THIS WAS WITH 2/3 ROUNDS ALL THE WAY THROUGH! (except for my matches vs justin..)

Yes, the doll will still do orb attacks while you're in block stun OR hit stun

That's all she has for unblockables besides the charge C attacks into doll hit and/or arcana special

Not necessarily, there are ways to retrieve the dead doll if the opponent likes to camp around it using arcana assists. For example with Dieu Mort you can go for the teleport super which switch places with the opponent, just try to get as far away from the opponent before doing the super, other arcanas like Lightning you can try doing 236236D lightning super and hold down the D button as you get in close to the opponent before releasing it, etc. If the opponent likes to rush you down while you're doll-less, you can try to go for grabs out of GCs, regular A+D grabs or her command grab would work. It's certainly hard for Lieselotte to fight the opponent without her doll but it is not impossible.

I have no clue. She's certainly a mix up character because her okizeme is very deadly but that's all I know.

6B isn't really used as an anti-air nor is it a good poke to use. You use 6B more on midair opponents who're on blockstun or to punish bad bursts. Use 5B for anti-air clashing, it's more or less her only option against IADing opponents other than jumping up to meet them with j.A

Do regular block strings that you've drilled into the opponent's head and mix it up at certain points like 2A 2B 2C into w/e, they might GC at 2C so switch it up with 5C which is jump cancelable. They'll expect 2C but get 5C when they GC so you can JC the 5C into w/e. You can't grab the opponent out of the start up of GCs but I believe you can grab during the GC.

No, Konoha is NOT safe on ANY variation of 2C > 623x, you can GC4 at 2C and 623x will whiff so you can get free punish. So if the Konoha you're facing against is comfortable with constantly doing this, make them think otherwise.

I tried throwing my stick against the wall but nothing happened. What do you advise next?

Stick. I can IAD a decent amount of the time, but it feels like I'm just jamming 9 9 hoping it comes out. I'm hoping for a more scientific method of hitting the IAD and being able to do it with perfect accuracy.

Go into training mode first?

Also if you don't have a wall handy, throw your stick at some animals, or even your friends. I find it easier if you affix sharp objects on the corners, like razors or deadly spatulas.
