Well since is arturo all about how to beat him today. I have a question.
Are your best options defensive after knockdown into gier setups? Does trying to aggressively get out of the situation usually end in eating a gier super.
Yes most of the time when you go into the offensive when being put into Gier setups will result in you eating the Gier super, unless you either grab the opponent or catch them with a super that has invulnerability (ex. Mei-Fang's 623AB, Konoha 236AB) but these can be baited. Because the opponent can choose when to let go of Gier super it makes it hard to go attack the opponent with Gier jumping at you at any given moment, so your best option is to either try to jump out, grab, or trade with the setup using supers although this is character specific since not all supers can trade hits well or have invulnerability on startup.

Ok so if someone does the Gier super on me on wake up and while I'm in block stun, they run up and do 6[C] unblockable, is it better to 4HC away as their unblockable comes out, or 6HC into the unblockable and clash it? I know in kira's case, if she clashes with something, she can immediately go into grabs, which would suck. But if I 4HC and he did the unblockable earlier and Gier is still out, wouldn't it hit me?
As stated by Sabin, GCing is risky during Gier setups as it can result in eating the Gier super anyway because it can be baited or Gier can be let go early. If the opponent lets go of Gier THEN goes into 6[C] GC4 will work, just do it before 6[C] hits.If the opponent is letting Gier go too early (before even going for the 3/6[C]), GCing will pretty much get you out, just watch out for the opponent trying to bait GCs so just don't do anything if you don't see 6[C]

tiggy: a bad time to GC would be when they have gier stored, ur knocked down, and they do a blockstring to u...gcing is usually a very bad idea in that situation since they can just jump cancel, let go of gier and ur fucked.

but recently, maori started opening up to me a bit.

kamui time combo is not banned. the only thing that is banned is the followup with infinite 3c since they cant tech recover.

kamui time combo is easy? are you kidding me? so you can do it then? cause i just started trying it today (the midscreen time combo) its dumb hard. but then again im not good at combos. theres so many places youc an mess it up.

Yeah the part of the time combo where you teleport behind them midscreen and do 5A ->2A x3 is really hard. If I could do that, shit'd be no problem. I usually scrub out after a time super and just do an air combo, then run away and hope they can't figure out a way to hit me before they freeze. Good thing about this though is that it makes people take stupid risks trying to get a hit in, so you get free damage .

-My first time playing the game in about a week

As usual, I struggle to do Flash Step and loops with Lilica, but can do them nonetheless. I figured out a couple of things with Lieselotte...namely that there was a 421 motion with her:lol: After getting a little discouraged with these two, I did a little BnB session with a few other characters -- Mei-Fang, Kamui (had a horrible time doing combos), Saki, Konoha, and yes.....even Yoriko. I don't know how Hal does it:rofl: Pents were nonexistent on my stick yesterday. I wanted to pick Heart before I quit, but I ultimately decided that she was 'too hard' for me to play:sad:

Regular AH lilica blows.

She loses ability to move in the air after flash kicks. Anyone can burst anywhere in her flash kick combos and own her. If you accidently get it when you dont want it and whiff, free hits for the opponent. Its awful. If you're high in the air and at the corner, if you end in 623X 236X 236C, the opponent can tech and punish you before you recover (unless you waste a HC).

Sure she gets more damage from loop, but she gets hella damage from her current loop anyways...

Ewwww.....ok, now I think the board is getting off topic here. I wish I had someone to teach me first hand how to do loops facing left and Flash Step combos. I've got notations down, but it never hurts to have an expert actually show you how to do it. If I could do the Flash Step combo that's performed in the first round of this vid, I'd be unstoppable:

There's a ton of Japanese people who sit in practice mode and do the combos before they even learn how to really play the game. Its like they can hit you with their characters B&B like, everytime but when it comes to playing the game, they blow.

Flash step isn't hard. Compared to some of the other timing things that are required with some other combos she has, its not that difficult.

If bet that even if you could do that combo, that you'd be plenty stoppable. There's more to arcana than combo ability.

Then again, if you have no competition as you're saying, then i guess it's true that you wouldn't lose...

And if they dont shake out at the right time, then they wont get thrown...

And I've actually experienced what you're talking about.....practicing combos, being able to do them, then getting the floor mopped with you. And I'm not talking about SB II either...I'm just talking about going against the computer in Arcade mode. I don't know how many times Lv. 8 Fiona beat my Lieselotte in Arcade mode:wasted: I still have a long ways to go, but I'll try and make the best of it going there.

I was gonna pick up Konoha just cuz she's a ninja but Mei Fang looks easier to play. Touch someone with jump C and then press buttons. It seems you'd have to remember more tricks and mind games to get good with Konoha. Yet...she's really short so it's tough to hit her a lot of the time any ways and there's no defense ratios in this game I don't think so she can still take a hit. We'll see but for right now I'm just going to hit jump C and press buttons and see where that takes me.

The way i see it, If you let go of gier early, the way to stop that is to just stand there and block. There's not supposed to really be one get-out-of-jail-free move, but options. If you force them to let go early everytime, then nothing is guaranteed cause you can just guard cancel.

Yo, Heartnana, orka, whatever happened to those character backstory translations we were getting? It feels weird playing this game and not even knowing whats going on.

As a matter of fact, can we at least get a general summary of what the story's even about in the first place? I'm thinking Mildred comes from Arcana world and wants to take over ours (going through Tokyo first, typical Japanwank story lol) and it's up to a bunch of chicks there who apparently have "contracts" with their Arcana to stop her (while trying to either court or kill each other too for some mysterious reason, wtf? :confused:)

Oh yeah, and no human guys in this representation of our world too, lol. Couldn't even come up with a trap character... :looney:

How do you get out of gear okizeme? Chibi says art says to superjump and block but if I let go of gear early I can hit him every time. Went into training mode and we couldn't get it to work once.

Like what Rob said, there isn't any sure fire way to get out of the gier oki. It all depends on the situation, in cases where gier is let go early you just block it and GC out, if they don't let go of gier early and go into 6[C] you can super jump out while guarding and another option would be to trade supers like I said in a previous post.

The new button, or more accurately the seperation on the two buttons, has alot of benefits best of which is that missing an arcana move doesn't cause you to dash, wasting a homing meter and possibly dasing into a combo or super.

In the second link where it shows the new button layout, on the bottom of the scan it appears that Petra and Zenia will have an extra meter for special attacks. Bullet gauge(?) for Petra and a Charge meter for Zenia... wow I wonder what this is for. I can't fucking wait to play AH2 its gonna be so awesome :wow:

I tried practicing tk stuff in this game (like tk sonic boom and wind pit) and it just looks SO sad. The characters go up first, THEN they do the action, instead of going up with the action.

And like I'll literally do 2368 to do it.

I dunno. I tk Fiona's 214 A/B/C in air and she looks like she does the action just as she's going up.

Then again, it's alot easier to tk than other moves in general so I think it was simply just made for tking.

EDIT: I'm also surprised that Zenia chick ISN'T a trap, lol. She also reminds of freaking Roastbeef Steakburger from MB Actress Again. Wonder if it's intentional. <.<

I think it just looks like that way cuz she's immediately going down afterwards. Trying it out with sonic boom, which has a completely horizontal path, I expected it to arch up a bit (as I tk the motion) but she literally just goes UP first, then outcomes sonic boom.

Maybe it's just a characteristic of that specific special.

1. I really hate water Arcana. I mean alot. Like that shit is hella scrubby and I just don't enjoy playing anyone using it.

2. Did great in teams, and shitty in singles, but I was down with a head cold on Sunday so I couldn't really help it. Should have beat Noel (almost did on both accounts) but didn't. Ah well.

3. I am seriously done with this game. It was fun. There's still alot about this game I refuse to tolerate, but whatever. I don't know if there was any hype for Arcana singles after I left, but there wasn't too much to begin with either, but that's likely due to the time.

4. Rob is an extremely cool guy.

5. 55 people prereg, 33 something showed up. Where 20 people went, noone knows, but this really makes me second guess those fucking votes over for FRXI.

I won't deny that I lost, but I'll just add in that when I played that match I had JUST woke up because of a splitting headache I had on Saturday. It was one of the worst matches at NEC, I played extremely braindead. That was teams anyways, Shinto still pulled through and beat both Chibi AND Zaelar, putting that team in losers.

Good fucking shit to Shinto, if he doesn't play the game why is this nigga too good?

To everyone that cares about my performance, during Singles I tried my best but that wasn't enough. I tried to represent, but theres obviously a barrier I can't get past, which is why I can't level up and win these tourneys. It would help if I had the game at home, because maybe then I could practice all my stuff and not enter tourneys not remembering how my BnB went. But whatever, excuses are excuses and all I can do is try and get better.

I'll do shoutouts in the NEC topic, don't want to spam up this topic.

Good shit to whoever was trying to play Yoriko in tourneys, I had to play you first round and I must say that it made me pretty happy. I'm not the only one who attends these things, and if you continue to play her and level that shit up, it can only go up from there

grand finals (and events leading up to it) was too insane. mad props to rob and all the top placers. :tup:
