I'd say, don't be discouraged about not hitting combos. Lilica's combos require a lot of time and effort, as HeartNana clearly pointed out. If you like playing Lilica, bear with her... otherwise switch to a simpler character, such as Konoha.

All I can say is, if I made a vid of my Heart training sessions I think I'd be the laughing stock of the entire community... and her combos are easy!!! It took me way too long to get where I am as far as execution goes, and I still drop a lot of combos. You wanna roll with the big doggs, show us just how determined you are!

Konoha, simpler? In my personal opinion, I think she's hard just because you have to be fast with her. The same thing applies with Lilica though.

I have practiced Heart my fair share of times....I wouldn't exactly say her combos are easy though. Maybe if you're an IAD king, then yeah it would be easy. It's actually between her or Mei-Fang for my second. I love Lilica to the point of having an av with my name in front of her made, so I will definitely get better with her. Besides, I've come a VERY long way, simply just by figuring out how the buffers work. I'll be good once I practice more.

And thanks for the encouragement guys. BTW orka, you, AzN, and Makoto Scrub can keep Maori. I lost patience with her almost the same moment I very first picked her in training mode:wink:

The second one is the one I was working on. I figure I'd get the basic ones from the wiki down and then I could experiment once I learned the character better.

I'm hoping to not suck horribly when I go to C3, but I have a feeling I won't do all that well in either casuals or the tournament there. I blame this mostly on not playing games for like two years. Damn you, Sandbox, damn you!

Sabin: Hahaha I wish I could do that Kamui Time Combo involving the bug we were discussing. I can probably do half of that combo... on a good day... in Training Mode... on my seventeenth try. Instead I just hit a Training Mode dummy with the Time Super and then Kamui's 214A+B... the bug still works this way.

The answer to this and all your other questions were posted a few pages back by White Rob, and the answers to all of them were no.

Atlus petitioned Examu for fixes that we listed and they said no to all of them (since theyre too busy with AH2) so yeah get antihype :sad:

Atlus is fixing the bugs though which is a :lovin: and no censoring either (we were worried about the lack of BUBZ on the front page so we freaked out) so this is a sure purchase in my book.

I wish the USA version would have had Progressive Scan option put in it though.

White Rob: Hahaha it's all good man. It's interesting that the bug works that way. From what I rmemeber around SBO time, and in ARCADE version, that bug only worked iirc if they got froze right as they were about to hit the floor (then attacking afterwards when they are in that state.) - just like the vids I linked about a week ago. I didn't know if worked off time super raw while they are standing...thats interesting...and i didnt know that...neither did anyone else otherwise we would have been bitching about it like crazy. Hahaha. GJ! :)

Same can be done with Time's arcana blaze. The condition for the bug is to hit the opponent with a move that has an untechable knockdown, and relaunch them before they hit the ground which only works with Kamui's 236A+B super...

no, you just need the slowdown/freeze duration to be long enough to recover from kamui's 236A+B and relaunch the opponent. So you would probably need like a min of 2-3 meters.

The funny thing is that Naruto GNT4 actually had almost the same glitch. That game didn't have air teching, but it did have "cinematic" moves that disabled bursts. With extremely tight timing, it was possible to roman cancel a couple of these moves and infinite your opponent - we never banned it because the few characters who had them (Tsunade, Chouji, forget about anyone else) couldn't beat top tier anyway. That game was all about catching someone without a burst and getting easy 100%'s...

Oh yeah, and back on topic, I *might* play this when it comes out in the US. Still can't get over how easy standing 720s are. =)

I finally finished watching the Game Newton 2on2s. AC響 beating Liese with Fiona was impressive :smile:. The Lilica player 殿 in particular was a pleasure to watch. It makes me consider learning Lilica in the summer if I have the time. I took her into Training mode yesterday at my friend's place and, after some practice and some luck, managed to get a whole TWO heel-drop hits to combo :looney:. It gives me a new appreciation for how much effort you guys must put in to use her. In the meantime, I'll stick to my (relatively) easy characters, Kira and Konoha :razzy:.

I also finished watching the 10vs10. No epic matches, imo, but the Konoha player ハフン was very entertaining, and the last two matches were pretty intense.

Sabin, a question: when you uploaded those videos, did you just upload the .flv file from Nico Video to Youtube? I might do the same in the future with some other vids.

Personally, even a romanization like "Kishiki" is a lot more memorable for me than "electricity-pole, happy-face, electricity-pole". The two most recent matches (at the moment) have no sound, though. They're from a different 2on2 tournament than the other new ones. Also, I'm pretty sure they're old: I definitely remember seeing that soundless "Metal Slime vs Mi" (メタルスライム vs ミ) Kira mirror match before, where Mi gets hit by 3 rocket-toss sword-supers in a row :lol:. Also, Mi just does splash, boot, splash, etc. throughout the whole thing, which apparently works really well in this matchup.

The Fiona vs Kamui match (1st part of that vid) was pretty good, apart from having no sound.

Gotta love that love ball + Konoha teleport mixup. Although, it looks like it's almost always better to block towards Konoha (before she teleports) because if she stays on the same side of you, she'll reappear some distance away and won't be able to combo off of the love ball hits.

Also, I've never seen Konoha clash xx grab super before. :pray:

Here's an impressive AHF match vid that I posted on Youtube from Nico Video. What stood out the most was Riki (Dark Kira) ending a combo at 2:38, knocking Heart to the ground, then using Gier's "sticky feet" move and a 720 super shortly thereafter. I'm wondering how characters might be able to escape a setup like that.

They definitely wouldn't be able to jump away if they got hit by the sticky feet. So I'm thinking they'd either have to use a dragon punch or super of some kind (assuming it'd still lift you off the ground even with sticky feet), or they'd have to block the sticky feet first (if possible) and then jump away. (They could also escape by activating their Arcana, of course.)

Anyway, here's the match. Riki was really impressive with Kira and his combos with Gier, while Nao was... less than impressive with Steel Heart.

Mmm... I don't recall ever seeing anyone try it on Konoha before, but then again I haven't seen many Time Kamui vs Konoha matches. Did you manage to get the infinite working on Kira? (I hope not :wink:)

I don't really practice AHF much either, partly because I don't own a PS2 yet <_<. E.g. I've spent only about an hour with Kira in practice mode in the last month, wherein I got her splash loop down 95% (couldn't get the boot loop to work, though) and also experimented with a few new tricks and mixups :wgrin:. But even if I had a PS2, with no one to play against and try my new combos/setups/tricks against, I might lose my motivation to practice pretty quickly, anyway.

I'm getting really impressed with the level of play presented in these videos. It's sort of changing they way arcanas are being used and thought of (plant for instance, and steel) and it seems like some characters I thought were mediocre before (Saki, Konoha) are really picking up steam.

It's too bad the japanese AHF scene is going to die when AH2 comes out because they're really progressing in the game and discovering stuff that might eventually change tier listings.

well plant imo was very slept on...( it had alot of good shit) and steel... the thing with steel is it's so passive though... but like with the steel lise... there was ways to make steel aggresive ( or with kira with air throw into sword super or charging after throws...

hopefully no arcana gets slept on in AH2... but im sure there will be one that will be forgotten... which is sad.. cuse i feel plant was actually a good arcana... but noone wanted to take to the higher level (well one did at sbo .. the plant saki)... very underestimated

Yes you should. If you don't you'll be a game full of knowledge behind everyone who played full. 17 characters with 17 arcana is alot to take in contrast to just learning new characters, arcana and system changes. With the size of the community now, even getting play against every character at a good level is kind of a challenge. so when there are even more characters I'd assume it would be even harder to play against a high level version of every character.

Everytime someone in this thread says they are quiting AHF I want to punch them in the head. The game is finally getting a US release and being made available to grow in the US and the people we kept the scene going until this point are talking about jumping ship to support a game (AH2) that will go through the exact same situation in just under a year. In all honesty the best thing you can do for AH2 in the US is continue to help AHF grow since that is what more people here have access to, at least when April rolls in.

well plant imo was very slept on...( it had alot of good shit) and steel... the thing with steel is it's so passive though... but like with the steel lise... there was ways to make steel aggresive ( or with kira with air throw into sword super or charging after throws...

Mei fang gets big ass damage anyways.

If you use moves like 214B a lot, that'll connect into fire super, and if youre more comfortable doing explode than robo tackle, fire might be ok. Or if you really like corner fireball loops, that's fine, too, but overall mei fang can take a ton of life anyways. Resetting into gier is a better choice imo.

I just read the funniest thing on gamefaqs.com regarding people's concern for AH being censored. It was stated a couple of times that Atlus would not be censoring anything (with links provided). However, people consistently were talking about other games that were to be localized, such as Persona 3: Fes. This post was, by far, the one that should bring it home to people on that site:

:shake: I actually have a Japanese PS3. There is a program you can download for the PS3 that bypasses region lock on the PS3 for PS2 games, but it's not worth it. The program can screw your PS3 over big time. The lag was more than likely from both, since there is already lag from the backwards compatibility....it ain't perfect. The converters didn't help either:sad: Fortunately, I have a swap disc for my PS2 now, so say goodbye to lag!!!!:woot:

Yeah, that pretty much sums up my knowledge of the story. The US release comes out April 4th or 8th -- I can't remember it exactly right now, but it's on Atlus's Arcana Heart page.

After FRXI, I realize that my Lilica flat out sucks....I didn't win a single round of casual or tourney play :rofl: Even after much practice, research, and encouragement, I just can't seem to get it. I'm either going to:

a) Suck it up and press forward
b) Switch to another character, although I seem to struggle with everyone
c) Quit Arcana

I probably won't be posting on here for a while, because I've got an important decision to make along with obligations outside of AH. If I do decide on quitting, it won't be before I train and practice more. I will always love the game and therefore play it regardless of what I decide to do, but I just won't be traveling and competing. I thank everyone for bearing with me this far. Although I wish I could say I was happier about FRXI, overall I'm glad I was able to go.

I wasn't able to go to FRXI this year, but after hearing all the stories about matches, my interest in Arcana has rekindled. I'm still going to try and press forward with Liese, but I'm also VERY interested in Time Lilica.

Edit-Just saw the actual flash step inputs. It's impossible on pad. I'll save my fingers. GGAC Eddie, yes, I-no, yes. Time lilica? Nope. Flash step just has too many imputs w/o trying some type of key config :sad:

And I would try playing as regular lilica with an easier arcana FIRST than dealing with time arcana. If you can do that np and want to put more effort into execution and understanding time, then go for it.

In addition, Amazon won't ship it to Canada. I did find a website that sells it for $50 CDN (http://www.videogamesplus.ca/product_info.php?products_id=13888&osCsid=c4f), which is about $20 USD higher than expected. Could the extra $20 be unavoidable due to import costs? I'd still pay $50 for the game, but I'd like to get a better deal if possible :wink:.

So apparently Kira wants to take over the world because she dislikes 5th grade. well, you're right in a sense that his full name is michelangelo... but "mike" serves its purpose if you just take into account how the name sounds. also, mike is a play on words with "mike-neko," which is a generic term for a butch cat (thus the cat-like appearance).

dieu mort was probably turned into "death" arcana just because "evil"/"demon" arcana just sounds really corny in english.

As a result of the PS2 falling, my copy of AH got scratched. Go to a hardware store and pick up some brasso. Rub that shit in to the CD like you're polishing it. Works wonders, and it's like 4 bucks for a medium sized container (cd/dvd repair kit would cost at least 12-20 for the same sized bottle).

Go to a hardware store and pick up some brasso. Rub that shit in to the CD like you're polishing it. Works wonders, and it's like 4 bucks for a medium sized container (cd/dvd repair kit would cost at least 12-20 for the same sized bottle).

I wholly agree! The dialog in the Kotaku video really got me hyped for seeing what the rest of the characters' dialog is like. (Poor Saki: saying "good puppy" to a ninja is just asking for trouble...)

I like the quotes they put up for each character. For instance, Kira says, "Get on your knees and worship me! [Bitch!]" (this explains why her opponents always look like "OMG! :sad:" after you beat them). But Liese has the most intimidating one, imo: "Leave me alone or die." Like, it's not even "You'll pay" or "You'll regret it": it's just flat-out "You'll die". Serious business. I really want to play through her story now, too, just to see what happens.
