Thank you for the suggestions so far! Yeah, the thing with Jumping C is that once that happens, you're below the enemy, and once you do the wind super, it will only hit a few times, then possibly whiff. I'll keep trying though, but I see where you're going with it. I was just happy to do it  I knew Kamui had something with Wind arcana! lol

I know there are 2 versions of Saki's Jump 3C, how do you execute the other version, the one that you can combo off of because I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I was only able to do it once and that was it...Somebody help ya boy...

Ah..you're talking about her [8]2C special. I thought the whole charge up then down thing was retarded the first time I saw it
The best thing to do is buffer the [8] by doing:
5B [8] 5C 2C
It has to be quick so you don't end up jumping before you push 5C.

It depends on what you mean. You could easily just do the notation that I gave you to practice the buffer. After you press 5B, push 8 and hold it. Then push 5C right after that so Saki goes into the 5C animation, instead of jumping. After the hit lands, then press 2C.
Sorry for the late response, had a lot of errands to run today

Anybody doing AH casuals Friday night? I might have a set-up in my room at the Red Roof Inn, if my friend doesn't mind the company.

Dunno if I'll get an answer for this until after MWC, but I was wondering what a more powerful version of Kamui's Kodama combo would be (and how much damage it does, if known)? I finally got the basic one on the Wiki to work, only to discover it does the same damage as a basic 1 homing 1 super combo.
I'm editing Kamui's Wiki page to add damage info for the combos I can do so far, and to add the other basic combo I've been using. There's just one problem: for some of the combos that end in 214C, I find that only the first hit of 214C connects, whereas using 214A results in higher damage. I'm thinking of making this change, and then if it turns out I'm doing the combos wrong or something, it can be changed back.
I'm also planning to add where to dash in the combos that I can do.
Have fun at MWC, guys. Record vids!

http://guardcrush.net/wiki/index.php/Tokinomiya_Kamui#Combos
Revamped Kamui's combos list. Added damage #s and timing hints for the combos that I can do. It will be interesting to compare the damage for that Wind Kamui combo (with only 2 supers) to the 2-super basic Kodama combo. I think the Wind Kamui combo will deal more damage, and as difficult as I found it, imo it was still significantly easier to learn than the basic Kodama combo.
By the way, ignore what I said in my previous post about not being able to get all 3 hits of 421C: I've realized I just need to add j.A and slow down my dj.B and dj.C to get Kamui into the right position.
Lastly, I saw this text on Nico Video: BC SUPERRR!!!
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/518/bcsupervk4.png
It came up just after Kamui did, well, B C super obviously. I burst out laughing when I saw it; I don't know why.
(無怨 = name of 236A+B)

the kodama combo i always did was:
2a > 2b > 2c > 41236b > 63214a+b (hold onto a) > 3b > j.b > jc > j.b > (release a) j.2c > 6gc > j.c > land > dash > j.a > j.b > jc > j.b > j.c > j.22x
or
2a > 2b > 2c > 41236b > 63214a+b (hold onto a) > 3b > j.b > jc > j.b > (release a) j.2c > 6gc > j.c > land > dash > j.a > j.b > jc > j.b > j.c > j.421c > j.421a+b
and all this time, i thought the ones i did was the 'basic' version. i didn't know there was a combo involving 41236a. :x
there's a harder one (with 3b after landing) that does slightly more damage the ones i listed... but the combos i listed are pretty stable and works anywhere on screen.
i'm not sure which one arturo uses.
also, i'm pretty sure the kodama input is 63214a+b instead of 214a+b.
Bill307
06-20-2008, 05:05 PM
Thanks orka, I added those combos to the Wiki as the "Intermediate Kodama Combo". Fixed the input for Kodama in the basic combo, too.
I learned how to do the "Intermediate Bread and Butter Combo 2" just now. It seems like it's possible to connect j.A after j.C only when the opponent is in the corner, or at least it's exceedingly difficult outside of the corner.
Bill307
06-20-2008, 06:10 PM
Uhhh... I think this "combo" that was on the Wiki is a mistake:
*** 2A 2B 2C 4C 6HC 5A 5B 3B j.AB dj.BC 421A+B
Clearly 4C isn't going to work there. Then I replaced it with 3C (probably the author's intent?):
*** 2A 2B 2C 3C 6HC 5A 5B 3B j.AB dj.BC 421A+B
Now, I'm pretty sure it's impossible to connect the 5A after 3C 6HC. So I replaced the combo with the following:
*** 2A 2B 2C > 3C > 5[HC] (hold down D) > j.A j.B > dj.B dj.C > 421C (3 hits) > optional 421A+B
(called Basic BnB 3 on the Wiki)
Seems like it'd be more useful with a Fire Arcana corner combo after 3C. Anyway, if anyone knows what the combo was supposed to be, or can actually connect 3C 6HC 5A, then let me know.

 I thought Kamui would be just a fling at first, but the way it's been going, I might end up using both girls. Polygamy ftw!
Speaking of fighting the love, I found this AH2 vid amusing: this Zenia player gets hit by too many love balls (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm3708359). :looney:
Orka: I couldn't get your Kodama combo to work. >_< After "41236B > Kodama > 3B > j.B", I find the opponent is too high to do "j.C > land > j.B". Any advice? :xeye:
Sabin: Grats on winning in AHF. Are you coming to T9, and are you signed up for AHF? We need more people! Also, got any beefy Kodama combos we can put on the Wiki?
Speaking of T9 (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=158046), is anybody here planning on coming up and entering AHF? There's a 16 player minimum for it to be an official tournament and I'm not sure we're going to meet that requirement. :xeye:
Moreover, if I know people are coming all the way from the US who are hungry for Arcana, then I'll try extra hard to make sure we can at least get something set up for casuals or an informal round-robin or something. E.g. I might try to bring my own TV and a friend's PS2: if the venue has enough space, and since I'd be bringing all the equipment myself, we might be able to run an AHF tourney despite having fewer than 16 players.
Orka: I couldn't get your Kodama combo to work. >_< After "41236B > Kodama > 3B > j.B", I find the opponent is too high to do "j.C > land > j.B". Any advice? :xeye:
maybe you confused my jc with j.c? i ask this cus i know i confuse people when i write jc a lot of times... i never got around to writing d.j instead >_>
the opponent shouldn't be too high if you do 3b > j.b > jump cancel > j.b > j.2c
also, i figured out which combo art does from watching him play this weekend:
2a > 2b > 2c > 41236b > 63214a+b (hold onto a) > 3b > j.b > jc > j.b > (release a) j.2c > 3gc > j.c > land > dash > 3b > j.a > j.b > jc > j.b > j.c > whatever finisher

Ah, Mildred. The reason I don't play Story Mode anymore unless I want to unlock something or read dialog . I have two suggestions for her:
1. Play with the cpu on 4 stars. At 8 stars her uber-damage is way too gay.
2. 6[C] in corner -> combo. Someone else suggested this before and it worked wonders for me.
Tiggy
06-23-2008, 11:48 PM
I was sad the first time I found out that Mildred wasn't playable...
Another thing you could do is set the rounds so that you only have to win one, but the CPU has to win five.

After playing AH2 this weekend. Lots of stuff from AH1 definitely carries over, so the practicing isn't a waste at all. But yeah, after playing AH2, just going back to AH1 is the weirdest thing ever. If andy puts up my tourney match against DS, you can easily tell that I was totally off my game compared to my later matches, since I was playing a ton of AH2 before the tourney started. How the fuck do I use Dorothy, she's my favorite character ever in any game and I can't find info or even a movelist on what to do
I keep putting 50 cents in and I dont even know how the cards attack I lost like 3$ yesterday instantly to some Xenia kid before I could learn moves.
Should I be looking somewhere besides guardcrush.net?

I took a break from AH for a while to do other stuff but watching the MWC video reminded me of how much I like this game and got me practicing again. I switched from Heart to Fiona and am having a lot of fun with her, both in spite and because of her limited combo and poking abilities.
I'm still undecided on which arcana to use. I tried Time first which was interesting but I got the feeling it didn't mix with her very smoothly and making it work well would take more skill than I currently have. I tried Fire for extra damage which worked well enough. Lightning didn't work as well as I wanted it too. Gier led to some fun setups when I actually got them to work without dropping the combo or getting hit. Wind was interesting, the added mobility helped offset Fiona's sluggishness and pushing the opponent away with forward Gaurd Cancel was a bit more successful than trying to win poking contests. I tried Fire again with the intent of using more of the arcana's abilities now that I was better with the character and was rewarded with the usefulness of of those curving fireballs and unblockable charged launchers.
I do see some good reasons for her to be unpopular in competitive play. The bad damage/risk ratio when compared to other characters that I've read about is definitely noticeable. With only one native air special and no native air supers she has very limited areal combo options, and since a lot of ground combos turn into air combos once you have to jump to land the next hit that puts quite a damper on her combo game. That's OK though because I'm still a scrub who sucks at comboing, so for now simpler combos work better for me.
I'm still trying (without much success) to get some of my friends who also dabble in fighting games to buy this so I can get some intelligent competition to force me to get better. I know I've said it before here but the AI is really disappointing. Maybe I've just been watching too many match videos but it makes me really sad when I play against Lilica on difficulty 8 and she never once uses the instant heel kick loop which will probably tear me a new one the first time someone uses it on me. Also I can't count the number of times the AI has launched me without any sort of follow up or has neglected to punish me for whiffing a super. I may end up going to a gaming cafe and playing by myself in the hopes of catching the interest of random people.
In any case, I've rambled long enough, peace out and congratulations to all four of you who made it into the MWC finals video. You guys are awesome and make me want to be better.

I hear that. One thing I find somewhat fun is to play Arcade Mode and see how many perfects I can get, or how high a score I can get. That way, even though the AI's damage output is terrible, I have some motivation to not get hit.
My main beef with the AI is that it doesn't play like a human AT ALL. E.g. no human is going to walk-up throw with auto-block. And it NEVER does anything after a 6GC, which is the exact opposite of a human player, and it trains you to react in totally the wrong way to 6GCs. It also likes to anti-air me with 6C (most notably Heart's) as soon as I press jump. Lastly, I never get grabbed by CPU Kira. Instead of just grabbing me, the comp always does 5A xx 360, where the 360 is guaranteed to whiff. :shake:

I'm still not good enough that I win every match but I do win most of them. Anyone using Lightning arcana tends to give me some trouble as I keep letting myself get zapped which kills my momentum. On occasion the CPU will decide that it actually knows what it's doing and will unload some major beat-down but it's still nothing compared to what I would expect from, say, Capcom vs. SNK 2's CPU on even a medium difficulty.
I've taken to giving the CPU a handicap so that it only needs to win one round while I need 3 or more depending on how long intend to play. I find I'm more inclined to give my all instead instead of letting the CPU just have it when it suddenly decides to be serious if losing one round means I have to win 5 more to advance.

Well, with the notation fix, I finally got Orka's Kodama combo to work. It does the most damage out of all the combos on the Wiki that start with 2A 2B 2C. However, it still does less than the Wind combo that was posted some time ago. In fact, after trying to come up with an "advanced" Kodama combo, I couldn't find any combos that dealt more than 11,000.
The most damage I could do was with a "fluke" combo:
2A 2B 2C > 41236B > 63214[A]+B > 3B > j.B > dj.B dj.2C (release A) > 5[HC] > dj.B (yes, B) > land > j.B j.C > ( 5[HC] > j.B j.C )x2 > land > 3B > j.B > dj.B dj.C > 421A+B
Which did about 10,800. I got it on camera, and it's a good thing, too, because after trying for hours to do it again (and replace 3B with j.A and add 421C), I never did it again. :xeye: Hence "fluke combo". I think it all comes down to when you release A and the direction Kamui flies in when you do 5[HC].
A feasible "advanced" combo I found is:
2A 2B 2C > 41236B > 63214[A]+B > 3B > j.B > dj.B dj.2C (release A) > 5[HC] > dj.C > land > j.B short delay j.C > land > 66 dash > 3B > j.B > dj.B dj.C > 421C (2 hits)
Which does 10,140, slightly more than the combo Orka posted, but imo not worth using because the timing of when you release A becomes much more important and much more difficult.
Lastly, another ludicrously-hard timing combo, that I almost got to work, is:
2A 2B 2C > 41236B > 63214[A]+B > 3B > j.B > dj.B dj.2C (release A) > 5[HC] > dj.C > land > j.B short delay j.C > land > j.B shorter delay j.C > land > short dash > 3B > ... (j.A ?)
After trying for a couple of hours to get this to work, I got as far as the 3B only 3 times, and every time I tried to follow up with j.B, only to see it whiff. I don't really feel like seeing whether 3B > j.A will work instead. The stupid-hard timing comes when you release A: you need to release A almost as late as possible, so that Kamui flies down at a steep angle and lands almost immediately after the dj.C hits. This allows you to delay the next j.B, which means the next j.C comes later, which gives you enough time to land and do another j.B j.C before doing 3B.
Anyway, some things I learned about Kamui from all of this:
1. After two j.Cs and one j.B, you can no longer connect j.C > 5[HC] > j.B .
2. In general, j.C reduces the untechable window significantly.
3. j.C > 5[HC] > j.B j.C doesn't work if the opponent is at point-blank range and is not above you: the j.C whiffs.
I think I'm done with Kamui's Wiki combos, now.
PS: I suggest no one try to do those two ridiculous-timing combos I posted. Unless you want to be frustrated out of your mind and swear a lot.

Of course when it comes down to picking between AHF or AH2 it's not like I actually have much choice. I don't think there's anywhere to play AH2 within a thousand miles of me and I don't have the spare cash to import a cabinet. Also, I don't think a console port has been confirmed in Japan yet so theres no telling when I'll actually get to play it.

Finally attempted the Mei-Fang and Konoha fire ball loops, courtesy of XAQshinor and JustinW match vids :bgrin:
After working out quirks in my execution, I was able to do Mei-Fang's after about 40 minutes. Konoha's is a little trickier with the IAD timing to get the opponent at the right height for the 623B reset. I managed to do it about twice now, but I am looking to see if there are any other enders for Konoha's fire ball loop other than j.A > j.236A.

The stick is just too awesome man, I can't lie. It's almost like playing on D-Pad or any other stick is a crime. Actually I've been looking to get some advice on how to play on stick better. Aside from on-the-spot 236236D inputs, doing FS facing left is extremely hard for me. Either I don't complete the 214 motion all the way, or I can't dash forward. I know I could do 236A+C facing left, but then I tend to get 236A > 236A all too often. I think it's the way I hold the stick. OMG here come the jokes :shake: I tend to grip the ball, and I use my thumb to try and dash forward after the 214A+C. My friend told me to hold the shaft instead, as that would help my motion input a great deal. Thinking about it, it would help me a lot. But adjusting to that is going to take some time....I'm afraid about as much time as it took me to get as good with Lilica as I have. Hold do you play on stick HNana?

Tiggy - Honestly, I just kept practicing. If i would mess up flash step on one side (and get tons of random 5C's or 6C's) then I would just sit there and keep practicing, that's all. No easy answer, sadly. :(
I hold my stick mainly with my index finger and thumb with my middle finger resting against the bottom of the ball.
But i will be honest that I take my fingers off the stick when doing flash step. It makes it easier to go back to neutral for me. Sadly, the Lilica stick is really light, so sometimes it moves around too much when im trying to do stuff, which is the only downfall of the stick, imo.

The only game I could ever play stick was Tekken 4, which I learned to play on the cabinet we had at the Pizza place I used to work at. Its been a very long time since I played any 2d fighter on stick, and that was more button mashing than playing.
Right now I'm actually re-training myself on pad because AH told me that my inputs sucked. Nothing like getting pwned because the 236D you throw to keep your opponent at a distance for a bit makes you fly right into them instead. Now I'm pressing the D-pad with the tip of my thumb and trying to pay more attention to exactly which of the 8 directions I'm pressing so that I hopefully don't accidentally hit up or something during 632146X.

orka - It's sad really, but I haven't really touched my Wii in what seems like forever. Brawl and Mario Kart have been calling to me, but I haven't been listening
HeartNana - I do the same thing when I do FS too. I am just having a serious problem doing it facing left for some reason. I'm gonna hit up DAT training mode and perfect it though.
pbj_mixxa - The thought of quitting Lilica had crossed my mind. But the smile on Lilica's face on my stick would turn into a frown if I did that. BTW my Gier Heart is pretty good. You should check her out sometime :lovin:
NappyJin - If you talk to Byrdo (the maker of the stick), he'd probably be more than willing to make you one. Before HeartNana sold me his, Byrdo made me an offer to make another one for about $275. The guy is nice and very approachable. Try it out if you have the money and really want one that badly, as I did.
devildigimon - Man, you're off topic  I vote Saki, cause orka once called her "ice cold bitch". Going off topic, who do you use in IcrAMP? Suika is pretty cool.
Konoha and Mei-Fang fiyah ball loops FTW
Heh....I might pick them in the SB3 tourney.....

In all honesty I'd like to get a good stick, maybe a HRAP or some such. I'm just not sure how much longer I'll be using my PS2 for fighters. Obviously I'll be playing AH with it but if AH2 (the only other fighter I really want right now) comes out for PS3 or 360 I'd rather save the money and get a stick for that.
As for my vote, I'll go with Mildred since she keeps Fiona awfully close.

I only play on pad since I'm a broke-ass. I have a stick, but it's in pieces at the moment, due to the fact that I'm too lazy to put it back together.
Eventually, I plan to switch over to stick, just because I'm tired of replacing pads and it's damn near impossible.

Replacing pads does get annoying. I had to buy a new PS2 controller a few months ago when I put in SCIII and realized that down on the D-pad didn't work anymore. Are sticks easier to repair, like replacing worn out buttons and such?

Luigi-Bo, last time I checked, you don't even play this game. Or you did for like, a week and quit...
Just wondering why?
GET ON DA MIC.
Yea, I played for like a week. I didn't quit, I just had no motivation to play since SB2 is all. Getting raped by sabin at MWC made me wanna leard 2 play though.
I need to come back to Lilica later. I can't do anything with her ATM.
What IS Fang's fireball loop. I saw it in one of those matches you sent me, but forgot how it goes.
Right now I can do:
combo into 214+ab, hc after launch. jb, fireball, jb, fireball, jc. Then I don't know what to do after that.
Also, can someone help me understand homing guage management?
I noticed today that if you use homing guage for flying around, it recovers A LOT faster than if u use it in combos. Like should work my combos around my homing guage to make sure I always have at least 1 guage or something?

I wouldn't know...I've become such a cheapskate I've taken to replacing parts in my pad when I can't find a new one.

Finally, some gameplay questions that I can answer!!!!
For the Mei-Fang fiyah ball loop:
214A+B > 8HC after launch > j.B > 236D > j.B > 236D > j.C > 6HC > j.A > dj.A dj.B > 236D > dj.B > 236D > dj.C > 41236XX
-When you do the first j.B > 236D, make sure Mei-Fang is under the opponent, not at the same height as them
-The XX at the end means either A, B, or C version works just fine
-As for the HC after the 214A+B launch, I believe you could alternatively do 5HC, but I always do 8HC
-Look at the part in bold; don't rush doing this part. Time the hits so that Mei-Fang's height is correct for the last two 236D hits
-You could also start the fiyah ball loop off of a charged 3C for even more damage...meaning you don't even need a super to do the loop
The homing guage fills quicker if you use it outside of a combo, yes. If you hit an opponent (even if they block), and then use Homing, it will put an X over the bar. Technically speaking, you just used that homing for a combo. But there are obviously other uses too. Using homing while blocking will also put an X over the bar. Also, depending on what Arcana you use, the X'ed out bar will refill differently. Love and wind refill among the quickest, and Time refills the slowest.

Out of curiosity, what combo are you doing for Konoha's fireball loop?
I tried learning how to do a fireball loop after 3C in the corner. Here's the made-up combo that I ended up doing:
3C > 5[D] > (as low as possible) j.B 236D > j.B 236D > j.B > 6D > j.A dj.C 236D > dj.B 236D > dj.B 632146D > dash > dj.2C
(2 homings; 1 super; damage is over 10,000)
What I really need to learn is how to combo into it starting from 2A 2B. I found I can combo into 3C only if the combo starts at point-blank range, which isn't very reliable.
My vote goes to Heart, because of her dialog with Saki. Saki, what's wrong? Why won't you talk to me? I thought we were friends? Do you hate me? etc. And yeah, Heart is definitely retarded.
best konoha fireball loop that i know you can do off corner fire 3[c] with one homing bar is:
j.b > j.c > 236d > j.b > 236d > j.b > jc > j.b > j.2c
it's very unstable, however... and people are better off doing just j.c (which is still kind of unstable) or j.b before the first fireball
also if you want 1,000+ off 3c, i think you're just better off doing j.a > j.b > j.c > 632146d > air dash > konoha otoshi since it only costs one homing bar and one super bar (plus oki)

Quick note: if you use a homing cancel during a combo (i.e. using homing to cancel a move), then your next hit will reset the opponent's "untechability" time. If you use a homing but it's not a homing cancel, then this doesn't apply. (Also, I don't think this applies in AH2 at all.)
In other words, in terms of when the opponent can tech out of your combo, hitting them after a homing cancel is like starting a new combo.

This is why made-up combos are bad, haha. Thanks, I'll give that a try. (And I won't confuse jc with j.c this time. <_< )
"Konoha Otoshi". So that's what Konoha says when she does her [2]8A+B super.
yea, ah2 apparently changed the amount of untechability time after homing cancel to a lesser amount... and have it scale more as they are performed later in the combo
it was a really good change, imo
some chars still have long ass combos regardless tho lol

Oh wow...I didn't try it off of 3C. I'll have to look at it to know how to do it...I don't know all of Konoha's normals off the top of my head. The one I did was the one Justin Wong used on HeartNana at MWC in the AH1 top 4 finals:
2A 2B 2C > 423A > 6HC > 5A 5B > IAD > j.B > 236D > j.B > 236D > j.B > land > 423B > 6HC > 5A 5B > IAD > j.B > 236D > j.B > 236D > j.A > 236A
It does about 9000 dmg or something like that. It's close to half life which is good for what it's worth. The part in bold is the hardest part IMO. You have to be at the right height starting out for this to even connect. The 423B reset can be a 423A I believe. It didn't take too long for me to pull this one off either, but I didn't get it a whole bunch while practicing it.
I might have to change my Wind Konoha into a Fiyah Konoha....and I don't even like Konoha.

np man. Yeah, it is good you figured out half of it by yourself. For me, it was 100% video. I can't figure anything out on my own in a fighting game. As far as the ground loop goes, I have to do a generic version of it, since I haven't bothered to memorize the variants. They're just a tad bit harder IMO.
Good luck

Yea, I always dick around and find out stuff on my own before I go to forums/vids. I remember stuff a lot better that way. I think this is the reason I can pick up any fighter and figure stuff out within a couple matches. Getting good is the hard part.

I haven't seen a whole lot of videos for Fiona so I mess around a lot to find new things too. After some experimenting I finally realized just how useful the fire super (632146D) can be. At first I was just doing:
fire super > 214A+B
because it's an easy 7645 but then I realized the timing was almost perfect for charged 3C. So I tried:
fire super, charged 3C, HC, j.A, J.B, 214B
for 7782 with only 1 super meter instead of two which was very nice. Also it seems that even if they block fire super there's still a very high chance of landing the charged 3C and the rest of the combo for 6417 plus the chip damage from the fire super, which comes out to almost exactly the same damage as when fire super hits. Also, ending air combos with 214B (I prefer B because it seems to hit more often) puts Fiona in a very nice position for wake up games.

Fiona, Lillica, Liesolette
He asked for "the hardest to play", not "the hardest to win with".
Hardest: Lieselotte, Lilica, Maori (in that order).
Again (as if it hasn't been said enough) play who you want to play.
rob thinks maori is the hardest to use (he uses maori as sub). i don't play lieselotte or lilica so i can't comment on those two... but i think we can all agree that all three characters take more effort before you get to a decent level.
but maori's definitely harder to win with for sure, since she is in B- while lilica and liese are both top tier (well, liese is god tier to be exact).
maori's a good character but she also has a lot of stuff she has trouble dealing with, and has losing match-ups against everybody in A and S tiers except mei-fang.

Guys, I got heartbroken tonight.
There's this girl "X" whom I started seeing last month. After some rough times with this other girl "Y" in May, I decided we weren't meant to be and moved on. X was much different. I was attracted to her because she seemed like a girl who could handle pressure much better than Y, and who had a great potential in her that surpassed anything Y was capable of.
Today, I decided to see Y again. Our passion was intense, but after some disappointments I felt that enough was enough: I chose to commit to X instead.
My good man "JW", after seeing my change of heart, advised against it. He'd spent a lot of time with X himself, and was definitely better with the ladies than me. But I was naive. I thought X and I were ready to take our relationship to the next level. And I felt that tonight would be the big night.
But X wasn't ready for that kind of commitment yet. She said we hadn't known each other long enough. Indeed, it was clear that I was rushing our relationship too quickly when I fucked up the Gier summon in EXACTLY the same was as Dish Rag this time, losing a round I would have won otherwise! Then I lost the 2nd round and was eliminated. After basically using Kira for the rest of the tournament, switching to Kamui for my last game was NOT a good idea. Not at all.
So now I've broken up with Kamui. I don't know when I'll see her again: perhaps after the pain has subsided. As for Kira, I hope she will forgive me and take me back. I've known her for much longer than Kamui and I should never have taken that longevity so lightly. :shake: Moreover, when Justin Wong gives you girl advice, you'd better fuckin' take it.
T9 AHF results are here: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=5342826&postcount=50 . Vids to come.

This is just a guess, but I think he meant Cathy in AH2. The "spinning" part gives it away.

Yup. My friend and I will most definitely be there and we're pretty eager to try out AH2 (Sp00ky's bringing it, right?). As for W.Rob, I'm not too sure. He said he really wanted to go and he gave it quite a bit of consideration but he never made it official. And to my knowledge he's not here on the boards all the time and he doesn't use anything like aim, msn, etc. D:

Due to the announcement of mb:AA as well as AH2: Sugoi, as well as me finding out that I cant get friday or monday off from work and would have to get to evo really late and leave early on Sunday, I have decided I am not going to make it to evolution this year in the interest of future endeavors.
If anyone feels that they would like a refund on their donation because they donated specifically for evo, please reply to this thread or pm me. you can also email me at victor (at) ehsj.net.
Yeah, looks like Sp00ky cant make it.. (tho its understandable)
I'd like to at least get a AHF tourney started at Evo though, but I don't know if anyone even cares enough to play in a AHF tourney at evo especially with all the other things going on.

Ouch, there goes my only chance to play AH2 before it hits consoles. T_T But it can't be helped.
As for the AHF tourney, perhaps start a poll? I wouldn't mind entering considering I'm not participating in any of the main events and I'd like to get some matches with players outside of my circle. But there will be so many upcoming games that will be playable there so I can understand why it might be difficult.

In other news, is anyone going to be playing this at Season's Beatings III? I see there's an AH2 tounrnament but nothing for AHF. AH2 is fun and all, but it's obviously not somehing I can be competitive in at the moment. In fact, to be honest, I'm actually much more hype for AHF right now. (Crazy, I know. :looney:)

You and me both Bill. You and me both.
I'll be there at SB3 in full force with my Lilica stick. If no one from the AH thread here goes, I'll be taking first since there's NO hype for this game here in Columbus. Or Ohio for that matter

Well, from what I've heard, a *lot* of people from this topic and everywhere will probably be going to SB3: it has maximal HYPE. We just need to ask if we can run an AHF side tournament, I guess, and then we need a director.
Right now, I'm not sure if I'll be going. What would really turn me on would be an AHF tournament + AHF casuals for much of the day/night. Unfortunately, it seems like AHF is often the lowest priority when it comes to getting a TV and console at an event. Maybe if we organize a lot of $1 money matches in advance, we can argue that we need the TV and console for them. :razzy:
By the way, didn't you have Chickenfat and someone else nearby who used to play with you? o.Oa You guys have to apply dat peer pressure to get more people to play! E.g. I tried gently coaxing this one guy Yang to play, but without success. Then the other AHF player here goes to him and says, "Yang, stop being a pussy and learn Arcana Heart." And now he's learned.
We also taught this guy and his girlfriend how to play, and she was actually beating him more often than not with Kamui and later Maori. But then he started winning with Fiona and she got pissed at him for spamming 5C.

Yeah, chickenfat and my other friend have given me a lot of experience in the game. But chickenfat is getting ready to move out of state very soon, so now I'll only have one person to play against instead of two  Like I said, no hype.
And about dat peer pressure....I DEFINITELY need to use that. I'm already having like a million set-ups planned for SB3 just with my equipment alone. I'm even planning on doing a money match in MBAC, and that isn't even planned as a side tourney. I wil make sure that AH has a set-up. I had one last year, but it was laggy. This year I have no excuse.

SB3 = Season's Beatings 3 (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=155850)
Tiggy, does this mean you can guarantee a setup strictly for AHF? :amazed: That would be awesome if possible! :woot: I wanted to do the same at T9, and even had my own TV transported to the venue, which I never promised as equipment for the tournament because I was hoping to use it for mostly Arcana. But then some other TV bringers had to pull out at the last moment, and my TV went from being surplus to being necessary to finish the tournaments on-time. If it wasn't for my extra TV, I don't know if Arcana would've even gotten off the ground. :xeye: I guess it didn't help that I slept-in on the day of the Arcana tourney, either. I wanted to get there early and wrestle my TV away for AHF casuals before the tournaments started running.
Anyway, if there's going to be AHF all day, then I'll try my best to attend.
Out of curiosity, how close do you live to the venue?
Tiggy
07-22-2008, 08:37 PM
If I take the freeway, I'm only about 15 minutes from the venue. I've talked to fugee, the guy over the tournament planning, and he pretty much knows I'm hype for Arcana. He gave me my own set-up last year, and I'm more than willing he'll do the same this year.
It'd be awesome if you could show up :woot:

ill most likely be at sb3. ive been to just about every other tourney held at this location and had a great time every time i went. the tourney is still 2.5 months away, and im sure more ppl will speak up the closer we get to tourney time. this tourney is really well run, has a great venue, and is usually really hype (for one thing or another). i encourage everyone to make it out. and i wouldnt mind running the brackets for ahf and ah2 (if they both happen).

I'm going. If there's an AHF tourney I'll play in it, as the only "official" Evo tourney I'm playing in is 3S, and I don't much care about any of the exhibition games outside of the latest STHD.

It's ok, they're getting excited by watching 2 horrid players.
I have a quick Maori question, what's the exact spacing I should be using for the 22A when I'm trying to do the loop combo? It seems like I need to aim for the correct spot so the other person gets brought down slower. I've noticed a few times when I hit like the legs of a character it seems to work, but if I hit dead center they just get sent flying down instead.

Most of the time you should use 22B.
Aside from that, it depends on:
-What whip was used, there's different timing depending on whether you used A whip, B whip, or C whip (tho B whip and C whip timing is pretty close)
-If you're against a wall or not
and most importantly
-What character you're playing against

There will be more. People are just too lazy to sign up super early...myself included. We had several show up to the last tournament. I'm thinking it'll be more this time. There were around 15-20 people who played the game, but a lot them were unaware it was going to be played. That's why I'm trying to get the word out. lol It seems like pre-regs increase the closer the event date gets. It's gotten to 4 after they add me.

There are pretty much 3 different timings to go into the BBC loop mid-screen:
Type A - Heart, Saki, Kamui, Mei-Fang, Yoriko, Fiona, Maori
Type B - Lilica, Konoha, Kira
Type C - Lieselotte
Type A
Off 623A: 6HC > 5C (whiff) > 22A. 5C is used to brake the homing cancel. The timing is somewhat generous. You can do a 22B instead as well, but 22A will keep the opponent closer to Maori after clean-hit bounce.
Off 623B/C: 6HC > dash > 22B > 3A. You hold onto the D button for a instant, then dash immediately. Tsuzune won't do enough hits to induce a clean-hit bounce, so you will need to relaunch with 3A into the loop. 5A can work as well, but 3A is much better since it pulls the opponent into Maori.
Type B
Off 623A: 6HC > 5C (whiff) > 22A. Same as Type A, except you need to 5C much earlier. Timing for Lilica is slightly tighter than Kira and Konoha.
Type C
Off 623A: 6HC > 5C (whiff) > 22A > dash > 5B. Due to her hitbox, Lieselotte cannot be clean-hit. The player needs to brake the 6HC immediately, 22A, then dash as soon as Maori recovers from the motion. She should be able to relaunch Lieselotte with 5B before she hits the ground if the player times everything correctly.
I could try to explain how things change in the corner, but it's kind of a pain... Maybe I'll post later. You should try to get decent at her mid-screen loops first anyway.
Also, take note that none of the above will work if you're using Time or Earth. You can actually loop Type A characters off 623A by using 22B instead, but there's not much point in practicing since you will most likely never use Earth with Maori anyway. Time requires a significantly different execution pattern to go into the BBC loop. I can explain it later if you really want to hear it, but they're really inconsistent and Time is not a very good Arcana for Maori in Ver B.

First, move Lieselotte to the doll's location. Put her right over top of the doll. Then do 236[x] (x = A or B or C) and hold onto the button until Lieselotte picks up the doll. If she just stands there with her hand to her face and the doll doesn't get up, then you need to adjust her position.
