Anyway, it was great to see a big turn out for AH, I'm pretty sure we could have gotten 18+ if we started even later, maybe.

My heart wasn't really into playing though (I was pretty much braindead when I went against woof) but you guys did your thing to bring the hype for the tournament with Stone and Eric on board. Some of the shit that happened in matches was crazy, stupid, it was out there.

After today I realized i still want to play Fiona, but I really do want to learn Kamui as well, outside of just abusing shit or what have you. I'm not used to playing slow ass characters in some a fast game, save Juggs in MvC2 really, so I guess I'm looking for a middle ground maybe, I don't know.

I'm really looking forward to October now.

I would also metion Gier, but everyone do better with Gier. You can use Water since its more of a counter pick against other arcana's such as Gier...

don't ever use Time & Rock if your playing Mei, Time & Rock would fuck up your combos.

Yeah, just about anything you find that works with how you play will be fine. Even Time and Rock can work since Mei fang has plenty of ways to get into her ground loop without the standard 2C 236B HC6.

define "everyone?" as is, not that many ppl have access to the game. It's surely less than 100 people worldwide that can play AHF right now. So don't worry about it too much...to put thins into perspective, by the time NY had gotten AH (regular) we were already 3 months behind Rob and the Japanese.

Sabin - good job man! The fact that you came close shows how well you can adapt. I remember you saying you didn't have experience against that character and look how well you did.

DropGate - Heart is an aggressive character, she is sooo good once you're in their face. guardcrush has frame data for her, i suggest checking that out. She has fast jabs and a fast low to boot. Her super DP will save you in quite a few defensive situations and can also be comboed in from her bnb (lol). IAD'ing is essential for maintaining her pressure imo. IAD over them into 2C is a cross-up overhead type thing, it's awesome.

Oh yeah, what happened with that Kamui time infinite thing? Did anyone do it? And wow a Liess player won the whole thing, I didn't expect that at all. All the Konohax fell!

I tried water out today it leaves your character to themselves with some added protection. I still like love though it gives me a few extra attack options.

Also does anyone else find it strange that the tiny fast character has so few combo options compared to everyone else. Even Kira looks like she has more combo variety than konoha. I guess I'll have to invent something myself.

The SBO vids are up on youtube. I wish konoha would have fought one of those lieselottes.

I tried water out today it leaves your character to themselves with some added protection. I still like love though it gives me a few extra attack options.

Also does anyone else find it strange that the tiny fast character has so few combo options compared to everyone else. Even Kira looks like she has more combo variety than konoha. I guess I'll have to invent something myself.

Thats a homing cancel. Just hold D and your character flies over to the opponent.

Eric, you should wait a while to do that Arcana Tournament. Give people more of a chance to learn the game some more. At least in Philly anyway. I know after evo it'll probably be better to have. I'm also going to learn Saki as my main for now until I get the game on ps2. I think I'm feeling her more than lilica for now....


By the way, for Saki is the lightning arcana best to use for her, HeartNana? Or anyone else have any suggestions?

Demon-Hyo - Lightning is good for most characters. Its all based on what you like. If you're feeling good about Lightning Saki, go for it. I found out what arcana i want to use by experimenting with all of them.

And i expect most people to do the same with Lilica. Her combo's are too hard for most people to want to have to deal with, and she involves way more inputs than most of the other characters. Saki is strong and not too hard to use.

I picked Lilica from the beginning before she had all the hard combos and stuff, but i really had no choice but to stick with her cause thats just kinda how its done in Japan. People don't really switch characters too often once they find their "main" since its 1 match single elim for tourneys, knowing 5 diff characters doesnt matter cause you can only use one of them. =P

They're horribly cliche anime designs that barely deserve any praise outside of maybe one character ( Lilica, but even then she looks just like Etna D: ). I even praise AH for having gameplay to stand tall even with said designs. I mean I'm just as big of an anime *** as you are (bigger probably) and I still can't stomach these designs. That's likely because I hate loli anything, but that's life.

2. I didn't want the money back. I didn't bring it up in hopes that you would give it back. I didn't have some other motive behind it. If I really dislike this game and hate it why the hell would I have even donated money to you to come and play it when I wasn't even there to attend the tournament? Why would I have bothered? Hell, I was actually pretty damn mad noone taped your matches with Arturo. That was what I wanted for payment.

went to game newton yesterday, there was a 2on2 arcana tourney again. i think there was about 24 entrants or so. noone wanted to team up with me so i had to team up with some random scrub who came in, unfortunately he was total garbage and couldnt do lilica loop properly. so i was pretty much on my own. i had to play pincho/rob 3.0's team 1st round (the time lilica player i always complain about). Anyway, my teammate gets totally smoked by pincho of course. I had to play Rob 3.0. First round, he caught me in time loop and i couldnt even move, thanks for playing GG. Just sat there and took a drag of the cigarette. 2nd round, it was about even, he caught me in time loop again, fucked it up i hit him out of a combo and we were dead even. but i lost in he end anyway. so yeah, first round ourney curse continues...

pinchos team got ocved by a kira later on in the tourney btw
after raping the time lilica user the dude that won talked hella shit lol, i was kinda happy inside tho, hehe. Lieselotte/Lilica team won the team tourney. I'd like to post who was who but yeah I can't read jp so i cant post full results.

played against a plant lilica user, it seems that plant lilica has some unblockable setups with plant (knockdown, lilica attacking high at the same time the ground plant hits u (which is low.) played against the kira user that beat pincho's team a bunch, for some reason i barely have any trouble against with kamui.. there were also a few saki users there and god damn they were fierce. they know how to use flashkicks really well, they wold quite often gc/hc into flashkick into super...if they were gonna fall out of range they would hc into saki aircombo as usual for massive damage. they were even punishing kamui 2c blockstrings with flashkick into super, mad overhead game rushdown. good mindgames with lightning 6c - this is mad good for some reason idk why. they use a hc to bait u after 3c if you get cute and try to attack them, because it looks so punishable. if not they continue with the 6cs until they bait you into doing something.


i lost more games than i won against the saki it was good shit. basically i cant let her get above my head or too crazy otherwise ill lose.

Its a rainy Sunday here so it was kind of empty just me, dave and hyperhal on arcana dave wasn't having nearly as much trouble as me though, Konoha has no range at all.

Second grab should win, assuming both have throw invulnerability.

Her combos do awful damage compared to the other characters, actually. With fire (or in power-up mode), she can do about equal damage to many other characters' regular combos. She actually has to hit you for that to happen, though. Yoriko's biggest weakness is that almost none of her moves have enough clashing frames--she is probably the weakest clasher in the game so her options are very limited if your opponent just sticks out moves that clash with whatever you do. You have to run away and play very safe against most charcaters to really have a chance with Yoriko. You have to do a pentagram power-up to be "equal" to other characters in terms of move priority and clashing, and the power-up lasts less than 10 seconds.

Why am I so good at arcana? :confused:

Well, where to start.

First off, why you hatin' so hard Art, I've only been up to CF like 4 times, and UP twice counting today. You could say that I'm better because I play around better players, but fuck I haven't been playing that much.

So today I realized that Kamui is still dumb as hell, and that Yoriko's standing C is REALLY good against kamui's normals. Like I would clash with stand C, then stand B, then crouch B 236a for the win. I also realized that 236c pressure(the DP) is REALLY good, even if it gets blocked. Like you can keep the person in the air for so long with it, it's great. Dave was running Kamui/Maori, and jesus did it take me a while to get used to them. I was losing badly at first, because I can't just do dumb shit when they're out. I had to find a different playstyle(which worked) and I started getting my streaks back.

Overall, it seems that by playing today, I can see that there is progress in UP, but I'm still pretty far ahead of everyone. Like the only reasons I'd lose is because I've never played the character, or the person somehow runs a beautiful match on me. When somebody GCs into me, 236 A+B is GREAT after a couple pokes. It ALWAYS connects for me, and even if say for instance I'm playing against Kamui and she does her rush super, it clashes and I get damage while she gets no damage from her super.

They tightened the sticks so it's really hard to do pents now, and my A button even died on me during a match(shit was stupid), but it got fixed and I was back on. I can't wait until the jap sticks get put in, And I've still got $10 left from today. Hopefully I can roll up there one day for some games. I can definitely say that I'm getting better, even if the players aren't on my level yet.

Univ - The thing is, in arcana, its more about the player than the character. Granted, there are some stupid things, but Hyperhal is a better player and even if he uses the worst character in the game, it doesnt make enough of a difference for him to not win.

I can see how being around the game longer, and playing better people for the time I played as a reason why I'm better than everyone at UP, but please don't say that I've played longer. I've played the game for a week at most, it's not like I had mad access to the NYC machine. I will admit that I've been watching match vids longer, and that I've been around people who are a whole lot more competent.

The advice I'd offer to Eric is the same advice I gave Zaelar. STOP trying to make bubbles anywhere near me, especially in the air. Backdash first or something then try to create bubbles, or you'll find yourself getting DPed a WHOLE lot. Also, I noticed that you aren't busting until you have like 0 health left. You see how I'd burst as soon as I saw the start of your combo? I'm not telling you to burst as soon as I hit you, but when you see things such as "Hes starting a combo with at least one stock and has me in the corner", burst out that shit early to avoid getting raped.

I can say that you're getting better at avoiding my GC grab supers, but just make sure you watch yourself around me when trying to attack while I'm blocking. You see how I'd just sit there sometimes just waiting for you to attack so I can GC grab super.

The problem at the beginning of the day was that I didn't know what moves beat what, (I didn't even know what her pentagram did) and every time I got something wrong I would lose 1/3 of my health or more. By the end of the day I figured out which moves get me in on yoriko and which moves get me hurt. Dawain is definately still a better player than me for right now but at least now I know how his character works a little better. Don't expect me to fall for the same stuff next time.

Maybe I still need to see more High level play but 40% damage on a jump in at mid screen with no levels seems like alot of damage

lol! This all seems too familiar with me. This game is just like marvel to me, so I have no problem adapting. It's more technical than rumble fish, but feels the same. Minus the air launchers and what not. Idk, Eric you've played me when I had the 59 wins and that was my 2nd day ever playing that game. You know how marvel is, so you should be able to adapt. The game is super slow compared to it, so you just have to take your time and figure stuff out. Get your timing down, adapt to the character your fighting quickly and you'll be fine. Look at Julian for example, first day playing it and even though he got beat up by me a lot, he started to adapt within due time.

I'm not worried about who's ranked in philly or nothing right now cause we all still newbs. I mean we only had the game for like 3 weeks lol! Just give it some time cause at NEC8 I'm aiming for that $$$$.

I was paying close attention to the shit I do that that got me fucked up and I realized something, the people that are good with her don't do that shit. I can see why they do what they do alot better now that I know why they don't do what I'm doing.

BlackShinobi - Pretty much yeah, you guys are all new to the game. Heck, i still remember my first day of playing. I would accidently arcana activate like, everytime i got hit. Threw me off so much. The dumbest things worked then that would never work now. I used to do Heart's 214A in the air and then 2A right when i landed and i would hit the opponent with that everytime. Its not really that good, but it caught people off guard the first time. Its a lot of that stuff that you're getting hit by. Its natural, and its harder for you cause youre against people who know how to take off a big chunk of your life when youre just trying to figure out your characters command list...at least when i started, we were all in the same boat. But at the same time, you have vids to watch of what "good playing" is, and didnt have to wing it.

You have a good attitude toward the game, tho. thumbs up :tup:
