I need someone to teach me the ins and outs of this game. I need work on my homing cancel/Guard cancel ability. Im not sure when I can get a hit in by GCing. A lot of the time where I do GC, my opponent would HC back and hit me first. Knowing little things like that in the mechanics would really help my game. Also, if you're playing Liese, 5A is your best option. Clash properties on that are insane. I usually GC when someone goes for a block string.

I think you should stick with Lieselotte you seem to have it down way better than I did that's for sure. Definitely learn to work with 5A (Lieselotte's patented knocking on the door of clashing), and you are pretty close to the corner setup Lieselotte has, but I honestly don't know what you're doing wrong. You'd have to figure that out by asking Derrick or someone that knows more about Lieselotte than I do.

big ups to li joe. this is arturo. good to see you posting...ah i dont think you'll get much in the way of lieselotte tips since noone plays lieselotte, and zar seems to have abandoned us =/ i can't really help you to other than to point out what her basic gameplan is. all i can say is, abuse her clash properties, punish techrolls with her command throw at times (if they don' attack afterwards, u gotta bait them into doin shit, FYI command throw has PHANTOM range and will grab a lot of attacks after a ground tech that DONT have invulnerability - like kamui teching, and then doing 41236+a - her rush move, lieselotte will GRAB THAT.) and doll rape super is like a reversal - it'll stop a ton of 3c/6c unblockable attempts. For example, I don't do Kamui 6c into gier setup on a knocked down lieselotte with super, because she can just do doll rape super through my 6C, gier will go thru her and then im fucked.

Also, she hands down is one of the best (if not THE best clasher) in the game...which makes up for her lack of range. Lots of Lieselotte users pick Lightning now, for the sole fact that 1) she can force even MORE clashes due to lightning dash, and clash is what she wants....2a and 5a are your friend and will beat out most clash attempts with liese, into free combo. Also, because she's clash friendly, she can get so many 623+D's (the lightning bolt which u can only do after a clash) in lightning, which can be very useful for getting out of pressure strings, tho u have to be fast. Furthermore, Lieselotte loop -> knockdown into lightning super -> place doll over their body -> 6c unblockable = reset/rape. Her 6c is so, so meaty on wakeup + doll + lightning super...so fucking good, its death when u get them in the corner.

peep that shit, Ao does many of the things hat im talking about, (he won that tourney too) and it will probably give u mad ideas on doll placement, how to protect the doll, etc.

as for you and the other guys (arstal, vapulus) that asked about the learning curve of the game, it's prob like this..

if youre a seasoned fg player, then this game should be no prob for you to pick up. movement looks hard, bu once u get used to the mechanics, its ez. homing cancel does a lot of the movement for u - the game does the work. you can basically do crazy mag/storm = mvc2ish movement (sometimes, even more so) with about 50% of the effort of mvc2. to put it that way.

as for the bread and butter combos, its simple to do when u are just starting, since u can wing it with ghetto combos, esp if you tack on fire super at the end of em. does decent damage.

but then as the game goes on youll be obsessed with getting that extra 5-10% out of your combos, and that's when shit gets hard and u need to practice. it has a nice learning curve overall, and no, its not like gg. i cant move or do combos in that game for shit, and frc's seem pretty hard to me in that game for the most part. it's not rusrating like that for the new players, imo.

tho, if you're new to fighting game, the system will be a bit daunting at first because of all the options and so many arcanas....casual players wont know wtf to do.

and free play nights are coming up in sepember soon. there havent been any tourneys in 2-3 weeks for AH in the tokyo area and i havent been able to play as much as i have liked. GET HUNGRY

Like I said earlier I just find it harder to win with her. But I lack a lot of her combos and I don't know how to get max damage off of anything. Unblockables, resets, and traps is what I need. Ok I just watched about 30 minutes worth of lies. I don't understand how when in mid screen, she hits you down to the puppet with 6C but the puppet does its B attack. This way you get carried to the corner for the loop. I recall trying to do this is CF one night and I couldn't do it. I also need to learn the different functions of the placers. What each of them make the puppet do

i translated more stuff tonight, and changed/edited some previous translations as well. i realized i somehow made a really retarded mistake in the beginning of short story that i don't understand myself... THERE IS NO FUCKING SIGN. WTF SON. i don't know how the hell that seeped into my conscience. i seriously thought there was a sign in the beginning of the paragraph.

i made some other minor tweaks to it as well. the short story is now completely translated, so for people that's working on the wiki... can you just delete the previous one and copy and re-up the new version?

i'm actually not sure if i'll finish rest of fiona tomorrow. it depends on how late i stay at work.

nah, he just hasn't played very much lately, since hes been hyperbroke.

You can't really go by the results from saturday because that tournament was so random
Hyperhal had to leave to get home, Justin wasn't on his game at all, and once the two main philly players I wanted to go up against were out I didn't really care where I fell because I had something much more urgent on my mind at the time. The top 2 were about the only things that were were they should have been. Not that dave isn't getting better but he is very spread out with his characters and on average both of then get more wins on dave than he does on them.

Question on that. When you say easy to pick it- do you mean strategically easy with hard execution, or strategically hard with easy execution?

Given that it's yuki- I'm think the execution isn't as stupid as it is in Guilty Gear- am I correct in that? I'm trying to decide if I want to try picking this up in future. I really don't like GG/Hokuto, but the vids make it look like it's not that style really.
Once you get your B&B down, i'd have to go with strategically hard with easy execution. The initial hit to get the opponent isnt that difficult, but it involves mad strats.

Oh yeah the combo on specific characters.. err.. i've noticed that I have to change my combos a little when fighting Liess and Kira. The difference is especially seen against Kira.

True, most first posts in threads are completely worthless, but i wanted to actually make it useful in this one. I myself reference the first post all the time, especially when showing stuff to newer players, as it has a good chunk of information all in one spot.

There's still little tidbits i can still add, but im not in too much of a hurry for that...since if you don't know what i have yet to write there, then its not that big of a deal, but just clarifies some stuff. =P

Anyway, went to alpha station yesterday at okubo (the same place where the ah ranbat is getting held at this weekend,) it looked nice on the outside and its 6 floors, but boy is it mad fuckin grimy. talking like chinatown fair level type grimy. thought all the arcades were clean in japan? floors are dirty, paint is old/chipping off, they have sheets covering the terrace/windowsills, etc...its not that bright..shit is like a fuckin homeless shelter. benches on eery floor and seats/library in the corner (where you can catch up on the recent arcadia mags, etc. instead i caught a nigga sleeping in the corner, lol. You know shit is really hood when in japan they have 2 marvel head to head cabinets...thats right, DAT MARVEL. :looney:

bathrooms are so bad and so ghetto...dirty as fuck, discolored, and niggas be skeching homo shit on the walls...talking about fucking dudes in english/japanese and sketching phone numbers on the wall...so...yeah...straight hood style, lol. In addition to hat, hey sell DEM NAKED LOLIS in those capsule machines and they sell cigaretes inside a arcade...wont they think of the children =/ :sad:

This arcade def delivers the goods tho. it doesnt look good bu they seem to spend the money where it counts. basement floor is shumps, 1st floor is medal games/quiz magic academy, halflife 2 arcade, 2nd floor is vf5/dr/random 1p games/random 3d fighters, wtf some nigga was playing super dbz hardbody for like 9 hours :confused: 3rd + 4th floor is random ass fighters, including most of the capcom/snk stuff plus DAT GUNDAM, 5th floor is the mbac/gg/HNK/arcana floor.


On every floor, they have a dvd recorder hooked up to multiple games for direct feed. You can just walk up and record shi if you hve a blank. they have a av selector so that you can switch between cabs too. 2nd floor was tekken dr direct feed, 3rd floor was gundam 4p action on ONE TV splitting between the 4 cabs so u could watch the whole match, wtf, beastly. 4th floor was random capcom/snk games hooked up o direct feed. 5th floor was hnk/melty/ggxx hooked up to the direct feed. no arcana, but ill try to ask them on the day of the tourney if its available. i wanna record those mach vids on sat!

I think I'll be runnig Tempestas for a while now, I think it compliments konoha really well, also the more I think about it Niptra isn't that great for Konoha. An arcana that increases her opportunity for landing hits seems much more valuable to her IMO than one that decreases her chances of getting hit especially since shes already small.

BTW Arturo I started trying Konhas dash punch loop and its not that hard at all, so I was wondering why I don't see that many people use it in vids. Do alot of Konoha players in japan use it?

I was playing against Nas today and if I couldn't hit him I would go underground right before the timer ended whenever he messed up his combo. If I remember correctly, Kamui's is an OTG. Lilica Time loop is HELLA hard to set up because you have to get them to freeze without getting hit(you get hit, the counter disappears). Plus, there's only ONE dude that can do it in all of Japan(as far as I know).

Art - I always figured she was harder to use then most of the case, but I don't get how they make the B hit come out after doing a 2C. I know with eddie in GG if you hold the button down eddie wont attack with the button till you let go. Perhaps this works the same way?

Niptra is amazing for Konoha. It hella increases opportunity for landing hits when the risk of you getting hit goes from slim to practically none. You jump up a couple times, throw shanks and then activate niptra. If the opp is a bit far away, just throw out a bubble and then do whatever you want.

I sort of know how the damage scaling works in this game but there is something that baffles me, when I start off saki's loop 2A,2B,2C HC 5A,5B, [IAD] B, (land) 5B, 5C, [IAD] B,(land) 5B, (hold 8), 5C (cancel into 2C), HC 5B, 5C, IAD 5, (land) 5B, 5C, HC 5B, 5C, IAD 5B (land) 5B, 5C.... if I can hit them after that is a crap shoot. Anyway, sometimes that combo gives me a good 40-50% other times it does much less. Is there something I can cut out or start differently to really make people hurt from this?

Also I use lightening, or gier to set up some resets with the super. Are there any other good arcana's for Saki. I do like wind for the mobility. Is time a good choice? Any good advice for time saki cuz I sucki with it. Also, any help with plant Saki would be nice, I personally think plant kind of sucks with her but I did some vids that looked nice. Any help from the pros would be appreciated.

The FRAME DATA PROJECT(the more I remind myself to do it, the faster it may or may not get done) breaks down how each individual hit damage scales. for all single hit moves they usually scale like so: 1st hit = 100%, 1st combo hit = whatever the actual rating is(they're all over the place) x 100%, next combo hit = the rating for that hit X the product of the ratings of the previous hits, and so on.

For example, Heart's 2ABC chain. The damage for each hit individually is 500/1000/1900. The scaling on each hit is listed as (70/95)/91/83. So it should go 500(500x100%)+910(900x100%x91%)+1435(1900x100%x91% x83%) = 2845 dmg

This does not take into account character/arcana defense bonuses/guts bonuses. So by the point you get to around 30 hits you're doing precious little other than wasting clock/gaining meter.

Every character has a base health of 26400 before adding any char/arcana specific bonuses.

To answer what I think your question really is, there's also juggle hit stun scaling in this game. It's calculated the same way, and almost every move in the game has a percentage between 90 and 98.

Combo's starting with A gets scaled more than using B or C to start up.
I noticed that you use 2ABC HC 5AB, while that might work I recommend you to use 2ABC HC 5AC instead. The opponent won't be able to tech out as fast and it'll give you an easier time to do IAD B.
Lighting is the best choice for Saki imo, Gier is a universal arcana and Wind is not bad. I don't ever recall seeing anything on Time Saki, but if thats what you want to use then more power to you. Just hit up training mode till you find something that works for you.

Combos starting with A scale more because you're wasting that 100% damage on a light, duh. =p Look at my example again and replace 2abc with 2bc, you're only missing out on 100 points of damage by the 2c. Of course risk/reward plays into all combo choices. Realistically, all long combos have only two purposes, to build meter/get opponent to corner for more pressure. More often than not they're both fulfilled simultaneously. Almost everyone has a way to get you to the corner.

Once the game drops for PS2 most people are going to be playing arcana heart at home and most people don't have japanese sticks at home. (I know my MASstick has a 360 in it.) At that point it will be easier to go from playing at home to playing at UP than to go from Playing at home to Playing at CF because of the sticks. If most people are playing at home on american sticks in two or three months CF will be the place with the weird sticks not UP.

Unless everyone has Japanese equipment at home and I'm the only one.

The only people who really use MAS sticks are the marvel players. To the best of my knowledge most people play with japanese sticks. The only time they aren't the more logical choice are in really heavy games like MvC2.

A lot of people use hori sticks or custom built ones that still are jap parts - very few people I know use american. So, in my opinion the arcana cab at UP would still be the odd one out. I'm pretty sure as the day progresses more people will tell you the same thing.

I never used a hori stick when I played. Everyone who had one said they were trash thats why I put it up to get someone elses opinion.

Plus half the sticks people bring with them were made in their basement who knows what kind of parts are inside.

Like Phae said Marvel players generally play on American Sticks and I used to be a marvel player and CVS, even at GG tournaments I still saw alot of American stuff the one place I saw alot of Hori sticks was on Namco games.

Dash a bit, A (1 hit), jump A (3 hits), jump A (2 hits), 2C, B puppet hit, land, dash A (1 hit), jump A (1 hit), B, 2C, B puppet, jump A (1 hit), B, 2C, B puppet, HC6 to 9ish, C, land. jump A (2 hits), 2C, B puppet, land 421 A, B, or C, A (1 hit), jump A (2 hits), 2C......

Combo was stopped by arcana burst right there. I think he was setting up for an unblockable with the puppet placer (421x) and lightning. Side note on this combo. The first 421x does not hit. It is used to bring the puppet to that spot, thats all. You must also try to judge where the puppet is on the floor in relation to where you will knock them down with 2C. So watch how you hold 6.

Mid screen (Puppet in)

At CF, i couldn't get diagonals on the SC2 machine consistently. I had to beat some guy in a money match without diagonals because of the sticks. :tdown:

At Nickel City, i cant even do any MvC2 combo's cause im too used to playing on JP sticks (yes even for MvC2).

Theyre completely different, and you can't really judge someone as a good player just by their ability to play on different types of sticks.

Not to turn this into a debate, American sticks vs Jap Sticks, but when they first put in AH in philly the sticks were P360's but that crap was WAY too loose for most people. Most people that started playing AH in philly came from Marvel or Tekken so they were used to the tighter springs found on those games (at least in our arcade) and complained to management that the springs were too loose. Thusly, management tightened the springs. I personally like the tighter sticks, haven't played on Jap sticks but I like tight sticks, but I guess you can't please everyone. If the regulars that go there the most want jap or american that's what management should put in.

The way I see it tight stick are like a proper lady, they won't give up the goods easily. Where as loose sticks are like loose women, they give up their goodies to anyone that comes along. J/K

Although people are visiting, hardly anyone is posting. And even the visits have become very infrequent. I do not grudge the cost of running this site, never have done, but I've come to a point where I feel it is no longer justified with the lack of member participation.

Its all about trying new things. I went through about 25 different arcana's for Lilica, no lie.

In all seriousness, the only ones i never really tried for her were Earth, Plant, and Poison. I havent actually really used Time Lilica YET, but i already know that's what im gonna use. Granted, i only tried Tempestras when i messed up picking Partineas and accidently hit the button too fast when continuing, but it never clicked with me.

I actually won a couple matches in a team tourney against people that are decent with Steel Lilica. Stopped that turtling Kamui hardcore :tup:

HC4XXDP is a relatively new tactic, I guess peeps were too worried about Kamui's HC4XXsuper bullshit that once FULL came around they tried getting what they could with the others. But yeah, if you're not HCing out of CH DPs for combo ops then you need to level your shit up. :tup:

I haven't seen the vid yet but I think what you're seeing is the clash caused by the kick. Heart's 6B(the kick in question) has start up clash frames, so I'm assuming that's what Pincho was using.

Tip of the post:
When you see people throw (a normal throw that generally launches the opponent) you have 2 options of following the opponent:
1) Hold D and homing cancel the throw and fly up to them. This uses and X's out one of your homing gauges tho.
2) Jump after you recover from the throw and right when you do that, hold D to fly at them. This uses a homing guage, but doesn't X it out, so it recovers faster. However, the timing for hitting them before they can recover is a bit strict.
I think it works for some 3C's too and most def unblocked 3[C]'s for most of the characters.

So, in other news, SK has a 95% chance of ending up stationed at Fort Sheridan, IL come March. Chicago heads, you know what that fucking means. :mad: I'll be 15 minutes away from the city proper, and about 20 min from Nickel City.
