Okay, so I'm getting into comic books again after a long sabbatical and here are the titles that I always stick to:
Invincible
Walking Dead
Girls
Y the Last Man
Ex Machina
Planetary
Fables
The Goon
100 Bullets (it's okay for me)
AllStars Superman
Daredevil
Supreme Power
Anything else to add guys? DC and Marvel are such fuck fests in terms of organization...I don't even know were to start in that shit. I've read road to civil war and all that stuff...that's pretty much it. Titles that are reccomended to me:
The Boys (Ennis)
World War Hulk (can i get a checklist for this?)
New Spiderman (post civil war, can I also get a checklist for this?)
New Ironfist
Lone Ranger
Dark Tower (S. King)
What else? Other strong life changing reccomendations? I need to catch up before Comic Con so I can masturbate all over my favorite writers and artists.

Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
JSA
JLA
Superman Confidential
Uncanny Xmen
Xmen
Ultimate Spiderman
I'm sure that I missed out on some other stuff I read, but that's all I could think of at the moment.

Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
JSA
I'll agree to this and add Nova, Iron Fist, Captain America.
As for WWH I think if you check out the World War Hulk thread you might find a link to a checklist careful of spoilers though.
Detective Comics whenever Paul Dini writes it.
Spider-Man - I read all Spider-Man titles and enjoy all of them, Friendly is my favorite (the three titles are Amazing Spider-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Sensational Spider-Man) but now is kind of a funny time to be jumping into Spider-Man.
Because One More Day is coming soon and after that storyline, only title they will have is Amazing Spider-Man that will ship 3 times a month instead of having 3 titles, different artists and writers, storyline's gonna span 3 issues, joints gonna be like 52 in that there will be no way for you just to buy one Spidey comic from what I'm understanding. And we don't know who the creative teams are. I'd say wait until the dust clears.
You want Spidey? Read New Avengers, Spidey's in that and it's a great book besides while the rest of the Spidey titles are about to go into their major shake up...
If you just want the Spidey stuff after Civil War I have no doubt in my head that just about any vendor at the con could help you out with that, it's just the Spidey titles marked Civil War on up...

Available in trade paperbacks:
Transmetropolitan(Ellis/Robertson)
Starman(Robinson/Harris)
I gave up on American comics after these series ended. Starman is hands-down the best superhero comic ever written. Transmet is extremely entertaining and thought-provoking. Both series ended because the creators decided it was time to wrap up the series, which is always a good sign. The American comics market is very cyclical in my experience. The ending of Transmet and Starman felt like the ending of another great era in comics for me.
I would recommend Deadenders as well, but only one trade paperback was ever released. The series was not very popular, but damn is it great. Very alternative and dark. It ended abruptly and left me feeling very sad. The ending, though unexpected, was beautifully done.

I would recommend Invincible but you already have it up there...in that case...read Daredevil. The book is absolutly fantastic. Trust me.

I second that recommendation. (Finally found my back issues and reread 'em recently) :lovin:

Everyone needs to catch Irredeamable Ant-Man while they can. Best Ant-Man period. And reminds me of a few people from GD (myself included).
Also I recommend

Buseik's run on Conan
Millar's Ultimate Fantastic Four

For Nova, check out Annihilation, either the back issues, the cheap Annihilation Saga one shot, trades (coming out in fall) or HCs or just try to start at issue 1.
Green Lantern Corps, the best place to start might be Green Lanturn: Reborn mini. Then just pick out the back issues of the GL Corps book. Although, I think if you want to jump in right after the Sinestro Corps special, it wouldn't be that bad. You just got to know the principal players.
Marvel Zombies 2 is this fall I believe, I saw mention of it in the latest solicits.

Thank you.
Besides that here's a few:
Exiles King Hyperion arc- I've touted this once, it's a really amazing piece of work and should be read by all.
The Dark Knight- Classic stuff, with violence and phat bat.
The Killing Joke- One of the most disturbing and touching comics I've read, I don't care what any newbie writer say's, THIS is the origin.
Identity Crises- My first big epic arc love, you get a bit of everything, plus everyone's favorite rapist: Doctor Light!
New Avengers first run: Was really refreshing, until they fucked it up with Civil war that is.
If I think of more I'll post them, none of this should run you very much money.

I'd add Powers to the list. It's one of those books that is REALLY great, especially when the overall story arcs are played out.

Everything that Frank Miller did with Batman. Everything.
Marvel essentials are good too.

Mouse Guard. The comic came out last year but it has the best art you'll ever see in your life. The story's pretty good too.

but how far back should i go

Yeah, Mouse Guard is sweet. I think the first issue of the new series comes out either this week or next week.
As for Daredevil, you could start with the Frank Miller stuff. Daredevil Visionaries: Volume 2 is a good place to start. (The first Frank Miller volume contains the issues that Miller drew, but he wasn't writer at that point.) He also wrote Born Again and Man Without Fear. Man Without Fear is sort of the DD origin/Year One type story. Born Again is probably considered the quintessential DD story, though- just about every DD story since Born Again lives under its shadow.
After that, get the Marvel Knights Daredevil. The first volume is called Guardian Devil and Kevin Smith wrote it. It's very good but I wouldn't say it's essential. There's one major plot point in that story arc that gets referred to often in later volumes, but if you don't read it, you can get by just fine. Then there's the Bendis run, which starts with MK Daredevil volume 3: Out. That's the start of the crucial stuff. And the story goes on and continues into Brubaker's first arc, which is DD: The Devil, Inside and Out volume 1. All the Bendis and Brubaker stuff are great jumping on points.
So my advice, is to try Born Again first, especially if you enjoy any Frank Miller. Otherwise, start with the first Bendis volume and work your way chronologically from there.
But if you got plenty of cash, you could get the Frank Miller Dardevil Omnibus and then get everything else.

I've never read Born Again. I'll check it out. I will vouch for Man Without Fear, though. I really enjoyed it, and it is how the Daredevil movie SHOULD have been.

I want to start reading the web-head where should i start from??? Or should I wait for a new whole story???
You mean if you wanted to start buying Spidey comics out of the blue right now? Not much has changed since my post, this very second I still suggest you wait and see what happens after One More Day.
All of the evidence is pointing to an Infinite Crisis style reset for Spider-Man after One More Day, making it so he never got married in the first place. This is a very unpopular move - http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=124347 - and if they do go this route (we don't know for sure what is going to happen) it may be a castrophe in the making like the other times they tried to get rid of the marriage, clone saga and killing off MJ. But hey, maybe it will work for Marvel this time. But if it doesn't, (again we don't know for sure what will happen and Marvel has screwed with us from time to time, it may all be misdirection) they will put things back the way they were so I still suggest waiting it out.
Unless you are just super curious what exactly Marvel will do then you can probably start with the first issue of One More Day no prob.
We do know the creative teams but some stories are gonna span 3 issues a month, some won't but you will still be locked in to those titles.
This very second I suggest reading Spider-Man Essentials, the Omnibus or getting The Amazing Spider-Man The Complete Collection on DVD-Rom like I did lol! If you want comics that are on the racks, Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane are the way to go right now.

The complete collection on on dvd-rom, wth is that like u read comics on dvd, or the show??
Yeah man it's a DVD-Rom and has over 560 comics, Amazing Spider-Man from 1963 all the way to 2006 for 40 bucks lol! Something fun and easy to read while Marvel goes psycho with Joe Quesada's obsession to end the marriage without a death or a divorce because he feels the need perserve the youth of the 40 year old Spider-Man and he thinks making him a widower or a divorcee is gonna make him seem like his over 30 years old oh nooos! :looney:
http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Spider-Man-Complete-Comic-Collection/dp/B000HKIM7Q
Sorry I try to be partial around here sometimes (well I do try...) but I grew up on Spidey. I like the marraige but if they want to end it, death or a divorce is the logical way. Infinite Crisis style retcons are never ever good IMHO. Well I will buy One More Day and see what happens... at the very least to finish off JMS' run.
Best theory that I've heard (THIS IS A THEORY NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN) is so he can save Methusala/Aunt May from dying he will go to Dr. Strange to make it so no one ever found out his secret identity so Aunt May can live, making it so he never gets married in the first place since MJ will forget he's Spidey too. MJ will be Jackpot, the Free Comic Book Day story will now be a 616 story and I stop buying 616 Spider-Man until they come to their senses, um... hooray!(?)
