Hell no..
What's worse are the bikers who insist on riding on the automobile lanes, instead of the pedestrian lanes.. as if they can keep up with an automobile. Morons...

Bicycles are dangerous to pedestrians. The traffic lanes are the safest place for bicycles for all involved.

I've been flipped off by several drivers. I call them assholes.
Fuck you guys.

It's not safe for them when I run them over. Stay off the fucking street.

If they'd stop at red lights and stop signs like they're supposed to, it might be ok. But alas, just about every bike rider fails to do so and then complains when they get yelled at.

Haha. Well, you had it coming.
I can understand that it's safer in downhill roads with a low speed limit, but some idiots use the traffic lanes on uphill or straight forward roads, and don't come close to even half the speed limit. That's dangerous when a driver loses patience and decides to drive past in a risky situation. Drivers aren't out on joyrides either.. sometimes we're in a hurry.
I'm talking about outside the city, though... I live in a small town in a small country with little traffic compared to a typical US enviroment.

Most cyclists do stop at lights and stop signs.
Some drivers run red lights, and roll through stop signs, right through pedestrians.

It's the driver's fault for losing patience. It is the overtaking vehicle's responsibility to pass a slower moving vehicle safely. Tough shit if you're in a hurry. "In a hurry" is no excuse for unsafe passing practice. What if the there was a broken down car with hazard's on slowly inching up a hill? Should the driver go on the sidewalk?
Reading the driver's manual in most states, it will state very clearly that cyclists share the same rights and responsibilities as automobiles on the road. Legally, the street is where the cyclists are SUPPOSED to be.

Ultrascrub, since you ride a bike, it's obvious you are doping and not in the right mind at this moment.
Please get clean and then resume posting.
Bikers always think they are better for some reason, simply because they ride a bike. Riding a bike is convenient, but when bikers get mad that everyone else isn't riding a bike, that just is a stupid way of thinking. That just isn't how our society works.
When gas is like 60 dollars a gallon, then you guys can say "I told you so" but until then, best of luck to you.

Tour de France is awesome, but I'm having trouble caring, because of Operation Puerto, the fucking Chicken (Rasmussen) getting the boot from his team, etc.
Although it was fun to watch Cancellera practically catch the lead fucking motorcycles in London and just dominate. I was really hoping Ramussen would hang onto the yellow jersey..not sure what's going to happen now.
OH yeah, and VINO THE ATTACKER is awesome as always. "I have no interest in working with you...I only want to attack you"
ps: it's illegal for a bike to ride on the sidewalk and the people you do see riding on the sidewalk are bike-riding scrubs. you can get a ticket for it, i can speak from personal experience. i ride in the street and if you don't like it, tough shit. Most state laws view bicycles as vehicles; i'm staying on the street. it's way more dangerous on the sidewalk. besides, it's not really that difficult to pass a bike on a winding country road.

I was saying it's more dangerous for cyclists to involve themselves with cars and leave the responsibility to us, than staying on the pedestrian lane where there is much more room for error or surpises.
Seeing that Youtube video, it doesn't look like you're the best navigators, so maybe you're on to something.

hey good idea, let's compare the percentage of bike riders to bike accidents and then compare car drivers to car accidents. oh shit, wait, that makes car drivers look like fucking impatient morons. whoops!
the pedestrian lane (sidwalk) is far, far more dangerous for a bicyclist. you can't see cars coming out of streets and they won't be looking for you. furthermore, people opening doors, dogs being walked, shit like that - you aren't going to keep a 20mph clip on a sidewalk.
better get used to it. there's only going to be more and more cyclists on the road as gas prices rise!
anyway, this is why I prefer mountain biking anyway. riding a bike in the city is nuts. thank god for the country.

real cyclists - you know, the ones who are actually athletes and can ride more than 20 miles without dying - usually do obey the traffic laws.

**** SPOILER *****
Stage 14 is currently being replayed for the last time on Versus/OLN. Go watch it.
Doping scandals suck, but this tour has been pretty cool. Discovery seems to have gotten their act together after last year's Tour debacle. They always have teammates around they're leaders, setting tempo when necessary. They've pretty much already accomplished 2 of the 3 goals they had:
1) Contador in white.
2) Win a stage.
The last one to accomplish is Levi on the podium. That's not too far off after what happened today. Evans dropped a little today, losing 2 minutes. If Discovery can break him again in one of the next few stages so that Levi has a buffer on him before the final TT, they can get Levi on the podium. Contador is a real contender for yellow too.
Yaroslav Popovych is my hero.

Yes, but the ratio of scrubs to real cyclists is the same as scrubs to good players in sf. I live in the city so it's probably worse. I don't think it would be a big deal away from the city, although those streets usually aren't too safe for bikes.

Also:
The safest place for bikes to be is in your dad's garage. Not the middle of the road.
That goes for Moped riders as well, get out of my way you hippie fags.

France hasn't had a real Tour competitor in years. This years best French contender, Christophe Moreau got destroyed two days ago, when Vino's team Astana attacked during a crosswind situation when Moreau was at the back of the field. He couldn't get into the lead group and lost three minutes. He then gave up on the time trial.
