Just wondering is there anyone online who is NOT a Tier whore. I'm just alittle tired of always fighting:

Sakura (A-groove)
Bison (A-groove)
Sagat (any groove)
Vega (A-groove)
Cammy (any groove, although she's not as annoying as the other characters)
And our last and certainly not least; BLANKA!!

Throw in an occassional E-honda and you got yourself a complete list of bull crap.
I even look at japanese people play and they use those same bull crap characters. Why is it that people don't understand there are other characters in the game? Kyo's A groove can Gaurd crush you so fast it's retarded. Why aren't people good with Shodo characters? Why don't people use Todo's A-groove instead of that bastard Sakura? Why is it people think they are hot stuff for beating people with the top tiers? What the heck?

It just pisses me off, cuz I fought someone today, and yesterday, and the day before, and all last week (not the same person), but it's like 90% of the times I lose is because their squad consist of AT LEAST TWO of the characters up there =(
How come no one uses Geese? Rock is such an awesome character played ALOT offline, but why nobody I fight plays with him online? How come the only Iori's I fight are roll tacos?

A-groove itself is broken, but that's a whole different complaint that has been going on for too long. Anyways, to get back on track, I'm pretty much venting, complaining and whining about losing to tiers. So ummm.....yeah, is there anyone who doesn't use a tier squad that still plays this game?

Even So, I think Urien is harder to beat in third strike than Yun, and Eddie vs. Ky isn't all that bad of a match up. Sure both of them have their broken points, but both of those games are better than CVS2 anyways. I just didn't fit in here. I may still play, I probably won't give up completly, but it freakin pisses me off to see no difference in fighting people. Everybody using the same characters, not very fun. Eddie takes MASS practice to get good with cuz his basic set ups are easily gaurded. Yun's Genei jin (I think that's how it's spelled) isn't all that easy either (although not all that difficult in the same).

....I guess I can give this game one more shot, but I'm gonna go on another major practice session before I come back online. Hopefully I can beat these lag abusing tiers, broken tiers, and demolish everything and seek vengence for all those who have fallen at the hands of tiers. That or I will fall harder on my face, losing in an even more embarassing manner, and cry again like a little baby and finally see how fast my copy of this game can burn in a see of flame and tears.

I mean I understand where you're coming from but the top tiers can be beat. They're in no way unbeatable. You just have to REALLY understand the game in order to do it. CVS2 doesn't really have a lot of leeway for luck (outside of roll and super activate gimmicks) and it's easy to mess up execution against characters that clearly have advantages when used correctly.

To be honest...if you left the game it wouldn't really matter since it's not like anyone really plays anymore any ways. You're better off just hopping on the 3S Kaillera bandwagon. It's free and lots of comp obviously. CVS2 is one of those games that you're better off only playing if you have offline comp for it. The game requires too much execution IMO to really play online and have fun with it. Unless simply mashing on buttons with random characters is fun for you. It's not even really the same game as the one people play offline on PS2. A lot of those fun characters you talk about are VERY difficult to utilize effectively online. Any delay will mess things up. Especially in a version of the game where there are no RC's.

Actually back in the day (and even still today) Japanese players were known for having variety with their characters. The team that I use regularly is inspired from a Japanese player who used P Terry, Geese and Chun Li R2. That team is tough as nails to use at high level but they made it work. There's another guy in Japan now that regularly uses A groove Dhalsim with R2 Chun and actually beats people. Dhalsim is terrible in this game but he has enough gimmicks to make him work.

R2 Chun is not necessarily the best A groove character either but she's a solid enough character to make things work. Her level 1's are really good any ways. The problem is that although the other characters in the game are fun to play...at high level play it's obvious that they are limited against characters who can shut them out with just basic stuff that works. Then at that point you either pick better characters or play a different game.

As far as the Japanese is concerned though...they really dont play this game a ton anymore either. They probably play A3 more than this game now.

I've tackled with some of the best in Guilty Gear and I've got my props (not widely known as obviously I'm poor to live in Cincinnati, Ohio. NOT CLEVELAND (4 to 3 hours away), NOT COLUMBUS (2 hours away), but Cincinnati.....poor old Cincinnati).

It does seem rediculous to have everyone using the same 10 characters when their are 40+ to choose from. Is winning that important? I've never played this game online but I'm sure it would be annoying and aggrivating if I constantly had to face the same characters, and likely the toughest characters, over and over - regardless of how beatable they are.

Characters like Haoh (which is about half the cast) dont really offer a ton that the better characters dont and really having 11 or 12 different characters that are playable in tournaments is better than a lot of other games. The fact that the game has a set of really beastly characters is actually good because of the way the game works. You dont necessarily have to have ALL top tiers to win matches.

Most matches come down to the bottom R2 character any ways (which should pretty much always be a top character at high level play). From there you can mix it up and as long as you're good with those characters you can win. I mean mixing it up with like Benimaru and Ryo with Sagat R2 isn't going to get far in a competitive tourney but it still allows you a better chance than having R2 Yun at the end just because you like him.
