So yeah... First evolution for me...

aside from the games... what's there to do, where's the good food places, how expensive is the food, what's the weather like?

let's just make this thread to discuss vegas during evolution weekend, aside from the tournament.

Vegas in August is BRUTAL. It isn't very walkable, hot as a million hells, and kinda boring. It gets old fast.

Yea, I was gonna go to my first Evo....if my dad didn't get orders to leave:annoy:. The weather is very dry, and there is virtually no humidity so your stuck with raw heat. During that day it gets in the 100's (since I was there in July, not so sure about August) and at night it would still be in the 80's, so I'd suggest wearing light clothing. As far as food is concerned Vegas probably has the best buffet's I've ever seen, but it gets quite pricey...or you can click on this link since my memory sucks: http://govegas.about.com/b/a/029360.htm

As far as things to do, I can't really help you there. Just type in things to do in Vegas?

-Vegas in August is hella hot, so stay indoors.

-There are whore pamphlets everywhere (Littering the streets, in the garbage, etc.)

-Food is pretty cheap ( I remember getting a steak and shrimp dinner for like $8)

-Free Drinks in Casinos is a semi-myth. You'll start getting hella free drinks if you start winning at a table (For obvious reasons). My friend Jon was winning big at a table earlier this year and I was drinking all of his free drinks for him.

The fact that you can fuck them after they're done for the night? Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

Ok, who here has experience dealing with hookers in Vegas?

...Nobody! Just as I thought.

Seriously though, a friend of mine told me that Vegas is the place for hookers since it's pretty much everywhere you go. Any truth to that?

The thing you guys need to know about Vegas, is that prostitution is actually ILLEGAL within the city limits of Vegas.

Those flyers and such are for escort services (which are legal, it's technically only a 'night's accompanyment by a female escort') and you just pretty much assume you're paying to fuck them. You can get nabbed by an undercover if you buy a hooker in vegas.

Brothels are legal in counties surrounding vegas. The bunny ranch for example, is like an hour or something from the strip. You can't buy a legal hooker in vegas, and I don't see why you would want to. Vegas hookers/escorts that are affordable for the SRK community are gonna be some of the dirtiest bitches you've ever come across. Getting paid to fuck is these girls profession. Millions of people come into vegas daily, and those girls will sometimes fuck 20+ guys in any given day because it's what they do.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but just putting the information out there for you. If you want a legal prostitute, you have to go to a brothel which is outside the city limits. These girls are the only ones you can kind of guarantee being clean because it's a regulated practice and they have to take tests weekly or monthly much like porn stars.

Just letting you guys know, be safe out there. Don't want to read about some SRK'er getting put in jail for soliciting a prostitute or catching the clap from some shady girl he saw on a flyer that gets handed out to thousands of people every day. Just play it safe, guys.

I've been to Vegas in August before. I also haven't turned 21 yet, so I know jack shit about the bar and club scene there.

However, I do know that Circus Circus used to have a bunch of arcades devoted to fighting games, and that Paris had excellent food. Meanwhile, Balley's was the fucking worst in terms of rooms, costs, and food. (Avoid like the plague)

Riviera and Luxor were decent, but nothing to write home about. And while it does get ridiculously hot and windy in the desert during this time of year, it's not so bad, since the casinos themselves are very cool and well-ventilated.

Blue Man GroupI though BMG got canceled like a year or two after they moved to the Venetian? Pretty damn sure they weren't playing when I went in March.

What is there to do in Vegas? Spend money. If there's a way to spend money, they got it. If you wanna play cheap, you can walk the strip, take pictures, blah blah. If you wanna play cheap and got some game with the ladies, then there are tons of places all over to try your game out. Warning: The women come in all shapes and sizes, but if you want drop dead gorgeous bombshells, Vegas has it, but bring your A game cause there are serious money guys everywhere, and that's who they want. Less than bombshells are easier, and the girls there are in Vegas to be in Vegas, so will have one night stands they'd never have at home. The clubs are great, but on a weekend, expect to wait in line if you aren't throwing down the money for a VIP table, or bringing a couple of girls already on your arm.

And the wax museum in front of the Venetian is great for pictures. Bring a friend and a camera. You can totally molest the manequins any way you want.

I have some sort of weird affinity towards Vegas - maybe because when I was developing in my mom's belly, she was there. Or it could be that both my parents love Vegas, and spend a shitton of money while there.

Vegas has pretty much anything for any kind of budget. You have a lower budget? Stay out in some of the downtown or off-strip casinos. Are you not going to be sleeping much? Then stay anywhere, it doesn't matter. You want to be pampered, use a good spa, or eat expensive food? Stay at Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Bellagio or the Wynn.

Someone mentioned Bally's - I stayed there when I got married, and we stayed in a very nice hotel suite. Food wasn't all that bad, either.

There are definitely deals to be had, you just have to look for them. I'll be writing an article on my blog about what to do in Vegas sometime tomorrow. If you want to save some money, PM me. I can give you a link to help you do that.

There isn't any strip club in the U.S. that is better than ones in Montreal.

Vegas is fun if you over 21. If your underage, you can forget about all that nightlife. They ID like crazy.

My fav thing about Vegas they are tolerable of public drinking. You can walk the streets with your favorite cocktail.

That someone was me, but I have to ask...when did you stay with your wife there? I spent a week there in 2001, at the age of 14; there was a bad draft in the room that made me sneeze all the time, and I got food poisoning from two of the three restaurants there. (The third one was equally terrible)

I talked to people then and later, and they all told me that Bally was widely recognized as the absolute worst place to stay or eat on the Strip. No one said a single positive statement about the place.

Your post is honestly the first time I've read or heard any good experience related to the hotel. Who knows...maybe you just got lucky.

Oh, so you stayed in 2001. I stayed there in March of 2005. They had renovated the rooms some time before then. The buffet wasn't so bad there.

There are far worse places on the strip - Imperial Palace, Flamingo, Riviera to name a few. I also liked Bally's because Bellagio was right across the street, Paris is next door, and Ceasar's Palace was also right there. Pretty good if you're a poker player.

Thanks for the information, man; glad to hear that they've improved, and I'll take that into account the next time I visit Vegas. Hopefully, I'll be 21 by then.

I actually thought Riviera was decent; nothing spectacular, but I had no complaints. Never visited the other two.

Paris was certainly nice, and had excellent food. Bellagio is a bit too expensive for me; does it really live up to the hype, based on your personal experience?

Random note

Someone neg repped me for my last post. Guess we have Bally's employees posting on SRK. Only explanation I have for that one.

Alright, here's vegas. Lots to do, if you got money. If your'e under 21, then you can go to the all nude strip clubs cause there isn't alcohol there. The difference between Vegas strippers and montreal strippers is that i'm guessing the hot/not ratio is much better here in vegas. You can go to a variety of strip clubs and be happy, you just need to know where to go. Spearmint Rhino, Sapphire, Olympic Gardens (not bad), Crazy Horse, Cheetahs, and of course, the all nude ones are good.

Prostitution is ILLEGAL in Clark County which is Las Vegas, Henderson (where Green Valley Ranch is), Boulder City, and North Las Vegas. If you want legal prostitution, then the closest place is Pahrump, which is 45 mins away.

We have some of the best clubs you can ever find. The places to go are Pure, Jet depending on the night, and Tao. Some of the other clubs are good, but those are the best.

Food can be cheap, you need to find the deals. They are not just jumping at you. After 11 pm is usually the best time. At Sunset station, which is 10 min away from Green Valley Ranch, you can get a shit load of food for 4 bucks after 11pm and before 5 am. There are a lot of places like this. None of them are in Green Valley Ranch.

Weather is HOT AS FUCK!!! It has been mild to a Las Vegan as of recent, meaning 97-101 and it should be on the downswing from here on out. So that means it'll probably still be around the high 90's to the low 100's during evo. Walking around at night isn't all that bad. Walking around during the day sucks. And the humidity is around 5-10 percent.

You can get nabbed by an undercover if you buy a hooker in vegas.Another thing about the flyers is that there are people handing them out EVERYWHERE. They line the sidewalks of the strip with stacks of the little leaflets in their hands, and their job is to A. get your attention, and B. get a leaflet into your hand before you know what the fuck hit you. They are trained to do this. If you don't want to be delayed every two feet by some Mexican huckster with a fistful of hooker fliers, keep your eyes straight ahead and don't visibly acknowledge their presence. (I'd say ignore them, but it's not a good idea to ignore anybody around you in a major city. Good way to get shit of yours lifted, and Vegas is full of con artists who will do exactly that if you let them.)

However, I do know that Circus Circus used to have a bunch of arcades devoted to fighting games, and that Paris had excellent food. Gameworks had a better selection of games, but as with Circus Circus, almost all tourists.

Here's another Vegas tip: free entertainment. Obviously avoid areas that aren't on the Strip or Freemont street, but sometimes if you're out and about, people will give you free tickets to shows as a promotional gesture. My ex and I got to see a ballroom hypnotism show, just for passing by the promoter at the right time. Also, at certain times of night, bands will play shows right in the middle of Freemont street, no charge. You can just walk up, hang around for a while, and do whatever. Vegas has a reputation for expensive entertainment, but you can have fun on the cheap if you (pardon the expression) play your cards right.

P.S. Oh yeah--just about any establishment you'd expect to find in commercial districts everywhere in the U.S. can only be found in the casinos. Movie theaters? In the casinos. Malls? Casinos. Restaurants? In the casinos. I'm sure if you were to venture away from the Strip and into the rest of the city, you could probably find stuff like this, but really... the rest of Vegas is a fucking dump. Avoid it.

Dry desert heat is much better than humid heat you find here in the South.

Right now outside my door it's 102 and the humidity is 30%. I'd much rather walk in 107 with 5% humidity.

Pretty much. I remember flying into Vegas in 2k5, walking outside the airport, and practically dying just from standing. It had to be at least 100 something with 100% humidity. You'd start sweating your ass off just standing in line while waiting for cabs. D:

Well, vegas never gets to 100% humidity unless it's raining. Then yeah, it's pretty bad. I know what you mean though. I lived in hawaii for 22 years, during summer, it gets to 90 degrees with 85-92%. Really uncomfortable. But, with the extreme heat and no humidity, you always need water. At least with humidity, your skin absorbs some of the water in the air. Just be careful when you are out here and walking during the day. Drink at least 20 oz of water for every hour you are outside. And not tap water, that shit tastes nasty unless yer really thirsty and it's really cold water.

Well, Vegas is great if you're only a tourist...if you lived there like I did, there's nothing really interesting, to be honest. Once you get your fair share of walking around the casinos, visiting arcades, blowing all your money on overpriced arcades in Circus Cirucs, it gets old pretty fast.

I'm disappointed to hear that...I was there in 2000, and there were plenty of fighting games, with a steady stream of opponents. (Although you're right, none of the players were any good)

I guess Vegas changes far more frequently than I imagined.

Completely agree with this. Among more famous free entertainment, there are the daily shows outside Bellagio and Treasure Island, as well as nightly, free entertainment inside the Rio.

Went to Vegas around this time last year. For almost 2 weeks. Been to every casino on the strip except the really crappy ones like Circus Circus.

Stayed in Bellagio from a coworker's recommendation. The Hotel was awesome. Very nice decor, the service was top tier. Too bad my luck not so good in that casino so I don't play there often.

The best cocktail waitresses is by far from the Venetian. They also wear the least :) They all got full breast, tall, and curvy behind...

Wynn is a nice place, I didn't stay play there very long because their poker room was full and the staff are pricks.

My favorite place to play is MGM because they have smoke-free blackjack pits and a bar right across it that have female bartender dance to random songs at regular intervals.

Paris (I think that's the name... it's the one with the Eiffel tower) has a very nice buffet restaurant.

Mirage and Treasure Island are kinda overrated... It's just bigger and newer than the older ones like Imperial Palace and Hurrah..

Alladin was under renovation and planet hollywood is under construction at the time.. so not much to say..

Rest of the hotel/casino are middle tier..

I saw Jubilee (a stage show with boobs) 2 cirque shows (Ka & O) and Penn & Teller. I recommend them all.

Weather was great when I was there... hot but quite dry, got a nice tan.

1. they go home broke from losing their money
2. they go home broke from blowing their money
3. they go home broke because they got a hooker who stole their moneyToo true. If you're there for the tourism or the games, you can run up a tall bill very quickly if you're not careful. If you're going to game in the casinos or buy tickets to the various attractions (or, as the case may be, harlots), set aside a fixed amount of cash and, for the love of god, do not spend beyond it. It's a slippery slope.
