This is Michel Gondry's (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep) new film. It stars Jack Black and Mos Def. When Jack Black's character accidentally erases all the VHS tapes in their video store, they proceed to remake all of them.

Michael Gondry is amazing. The premise seems loose, but he's one of the only people who can pull it off without descending into stupidity.

Storyline wise, I don't think it'll be enjoyable. The remakes of the movies would make up for it though.

holy shit!!! my friend growing up wrote a short story based on the same thing! same title and all, ill try to get him to send me the story. he worked at blockbuster for 2 years and got into writing for national novel writing month. the movie looks like it could a good view also.

This movie looks alright. Probably more of a rental than a theater experience.

Jack Black is great. Tenacious D put out some great fucking songs even before they had CD's. Check out Jesus Ranch.

I agree with Jack Black being an irritating actor sometimes...that said, he's a PERFECT fit for this kind of a movie.

When I saw the thread I thought it was a poll asking if you rewind the tapes you check out from the library after watching them..:rofl:! Looks like a really funny movie... that Rush Hour 2 is the shit!
Me, too.
I don't care for Jack Black or Mos Def, but this sounds damn good. I can't imagine this being only an hour 1/2, though.
