So to those that have bikes on srk, this particular bike is called a roadmaster (ugh), and it's only 50 bucks. It's for college and it's basically to turn 25 minute walks into 5 mintue bike rides. Well, it only really needs to last me two or three years but I haven't been able to find too many reviews about it but here are a max of four at the bottom of the page in this link:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1977659

One guy who is 18 says he hated his and the rear wheel fell off, while I think the other two people were in their 40s/50s and said they loved their bikes. Does anybody own this bike? Reviews?

Cliffs:

1) RPD needs a bike
2) $50 bike but questionable quality
3) Roadmaster
4) ?
5) Profit?

I'd rather walk, but that's just me.

4+ years of walking around campus will change how you think.

It'll probably start having squeaky brakes, loose chains, etc. pretty soon, but why not, if you really wanted if anything starts messing up a new chain or something isn't a big deal. I say do it, save yourself some time and money.

riding that thing is probably like trying to peddle a tank. the local wal-mart doesn't have one on display? also you might be able to luck out on craigslist and find a quality used bike for under 100 bucks.

But it's marketed as an off road bike. But yeah I see what you mean. Most of my riding will be coasting down hills anyway.

ROFL!... Holy shit, this is the exact same bike this guy at our work owned.

Sure its a cheap 50 dollar bike, and it looks reliable...

but its called the

"MOUNTAIN FURY"

take a lil time to figure out how that will settle in with your buddies...

Get a skateboard...

or a bike that doesnt say MOUNTAIN FURRRRRYYYYY!!!! *ORA ORA ORA!!!!*

We used to call that dude at work the Rider of the Mountain Fury, hell brings no wrath such as that who wields the Mountain Fury as his steed....

This is that same bike. Sounds like Mountain Fury will be a conversation starter with the ladies.

sure its a hit with underage highschool students...

yeah my co-worker has the exact same bike except its faded Black with a PURPLE mountain fury label... he never hears the end of it.

anyhow i rode his bike around the parking lot for kicks, it felt pretty sturdy the seat definitely hurts, and the gears felt a lil shoddy. if your just using it for campus roaming its not too bad of a choice.

Preferably i would rather sport a decent Longboard or Skateboard. easier to keep track of if your on campus all the time, you can pretty much jump off and carry it anywhere whenever.

Yeah I see people on longboards a lot. I've never seen them either until about a year ago. I don't know I've never felt I was coordinated enough to use a skateboard. But you're right you can hop off it and take it with you instantly.

You get what you paid for man, so don't get your hopes up that it's going to last longer then higher priced bicycles. If you have time, try to find road bikes from garage sales or dumpsters. A few people I know found road bikes in dumpsters just had to either replace a wheel or some minor maintenance and have been doing long bike rides for a good work out. If you plan on using the bike consistently for 3 years you might as well not gamble on a POS and have a possibility of throwing it out before the first semester ends.

if your bike doesnt cost at least 250 dollars you are a bike scrub and you ride a dump truck. if i were you id save some money and get a real bike (road or track).
