Valkyrie Profile 2 (help please WTF)

I tried forum searching but i didnt come back with a specific answer for this. I searched Google, Gamefaqs . .etc.


Basically I'm trying to get the hella quick EXP + Crystals by farming the "Hydra" in Valkerie profile 2.

He proceeds to beat the shit out of the hydra and gets a ton of crystal and experience at the end. Apparently this can be done repetitively so you can max out your characters making the game a fucking breeze.

My questions are:

1-Why is the players AP gauge recovering so quickly?
2-Under what conditions is this possible (equipment, team, items etc)


I'm still at the part with the lava boss that keeps shitting on me btw.

first, you gotta use an attack that knocks them down. alicias uppercut move works well. then you have to use the move where rufus fires 2 discs from a bow. then repeat with him and with him only.

make sure no one has any weapon equipped that gives them special finishers.

i forgot what buffs you have to give him before so that he drops crystals to fill the attack bar so you'll have to figure that out on your own.

You don't need to do all this stuff, get two heavy warriors with good weapons and just soul crush the boss. You can beat him in one combo.

It wouldnt hurt to buy the "Experience Pig Law" to multiply the experience either would it?


I dont really want the weapons needed that make the game stupid by the end of chapter 3, I just want my characters to learn more skills and get the crazy stat boosting items.

Rufus has a bow attack that shoots out 2 beams followed by 2-3 slow spinning disks that float high and hit for 8-15 strikes a piece; most of which are going to be critical hits. Another archers (forgot name) has a similar attack that shoots out very slow disks that strike for multiple hits. these attacks make the crystals gush out of any tall monster (like ice giants w/big icicle on hand) or any monster that flies (bird/dragon). you should get crystals automatically from fliers. from giants and other guys, you need to knock them up/down first so they're not standing. Also, that orb that gives you =0 gold but 2x XP is what you need. There is another orb called (bigger bonus) that makes the monsters shed more crystals than normal. YOu want that orb too.

and the secret to the magma guy; make 2 teams. Make 1 team the decoy/healer team and the other 2 are your attackers. only attack with team 2 and use team 1 to decoy/bait/turtle the magma giant.
