Anime songs being butchered in other languages?

So, how come like, when an anime gets translated and then dubbed into a different language, they also have to change the opening theme song? Like, why can't they just keep it in Japanese and then just go through with the dubbing of the actual anime?

Digimon Tamers also got the shaft...lazy-ass dubber just did ANOTHER remake of the sorry-ass american song. Biggest Dreamer, My Tomorrow, and Aijou to Nichijou were the bomb.

Also, I hate how they edit a lot of good parts out of animes.
I watched Pokemon in original Japanese version and wow, there's a lot of stuff they cut out, just cuz of censorship laws.

No, you don't need to know "Japan" to know sucky american intros when you see them. Naruto, Digimon, You-Gay-Hoe, DBZ, and countless other anime had MAJORLY sucky intros when brought here. Everyone knows it (except little kids like the ones that infest the american version fansites and tv.com...they just like it cuz "It's in english, not that weird language"), regardless of their knowlegdge of japanese culture. And the half-ass american Digimon intros sucked.

Nah, Japanese openings are almost always, and I mean like 99.8%, better than American dubbed openings. Digimon was an awesome series, even in English, but when it came to the intros, God damn did that shit suck.

Yes, this is very, very, very true. Japanese openings seriously kick ass, but when brought to another country, it seems they make it...not-so kick ass. I mean, why can't they just leave the opening of the anime as the language it came from? I mean, it's only 1 minute, maybe less, not like it's going to affect anything. You could just put sub titles on them or something since you're dubbing the whole series, anyways.
Digimon was seriously a kick ass series which is why i'm kinda pissed at how they pwned the intros. I mean, the Japanese intro for Digimon was like, wow, one of the best intros i've ever seen...yet, when I watch the English opening, it makes me cringe at how something so awesome could end up so crappy.

Haha, actually, the original Dragon Ball did have a pretty good translation and a very good opening/ending English song dub.
Also, if you've ever watched Yu Yu Hakusho, the opening in both English and Japanese are really, really well done. It's one of the few animes I actually like watching the English opening just because it follows the original Japanese intro.

I mean, ok, I think if they have to change the intro of the anime into a different language, why don't they just keep it the same theme, same sound but just different words? Listen to the Yu Yu Hakusho English and Japanese theme. They are seriously identical. I mean, THAT was a good opening, both English and Japanese...why can't other animes follow that?

Seeing as how I've never watched Digimon, much less most anime intros, what makes that "WOW WOW WOW" bullshit better than "Digimon are the CHAM-PYONS!" Eh?:bluu:

What I see there is culture difference, but I don't see anything in the Japanese one that screams "I'm better" than the US one. Both sound corny as hell.

Truth: The original songs are replaced by English counterparts so that the parents won't change the channel. It happened in my household, and I've seen it happen with other people's kids too.

Chances are, at least one of the parents is with the kid(s) when Naruto/DBZ/whateverthefok starts showing.

Not to be racist, but ignorant middle-class white people automatically turn that "chinese bullshit" off, precisely because they don't understand a word of it.
