I was on my dads allstate insurance policy where they were payin 300 something a month, the deal was they'd keep me on their policy for 6 months and if i didnt have a accident i'd getta lower rate, but i got put on my own policy now, and i was wondering would i be able to switch to a diff insurance company if i wanted? or do i have to pay since i just got switched to allstate? how does it work w hen u wanna switch insurance companies? i was/am payingmonth to month on the insurance.
for the record im 22 and live in illinois (chicago area)
i've gotta friend thats 21 with a 06 dodge charger hes was payin 222 a month with his company but they recently cut it to like 150 or so cuz he had the company for like 4-5 years. I dunno tho 300 seems a bit steep, i have a 2007 pontiac g5, most quotes i've looked up where like 240 ish and lower

other states are not the same; like NY has different minimum standards. almost more important where you live than who covers you.

full coverage or liability?
full coverage. what i mainly wanna know is how do you go about changing the insurance. do u wait for that first bill to come and then stop paying? and just switch?or do you owe the company wat they charged u then u switch?

you need to call them and ask, i would imagine each company has a different policy. you might have to wait until your policy is up before you can switch, else you'll suffer penalties.
i don't know honestly

If you find a good rate, switch as soon as possible and be sure to cancel with your old agency so they can pro rate and refund any monies back to you..

Thanks to my parents, I've been a member of Auto Club for like 27 years now (and I'm only 23). I can't wait to turn 25 to collect on cheaper auto insurance.

^does the 25 year old thing only apply if you've been a customer for a certain amount of time? or everyone in general?
I'm kinda concerned about this since I turn 25 next year, and am really hoping the amount goes down.

In CA, everyone gets a lower rate at 25 (even if you have a bad driving record. It still gets lower, although it will still be high due to your record), except people who waited until they were 18 to get their license. They have to wait until they're 27.
