Whassup fam, old head member here wanted to ask the board a question.
Was wondering what are some good recent Kung-fu flicks out right now.
Really into wu-xia, Something along the lines of Hero (good story, great action)
I just downloaded one called Azumi. Anyone seen it?
But yea if you could recommend some great ones that would be SuperBad.

I'm really excited for this flick. Donnie Yen's MMA Kung Fu is win. Check out Sha Po Lang/ Killzone for some good examples of this. There's also War, which just came out in theaters. Rush Hour 3...... jk.

Azumi is a Japanese Samurai/ninja type of movie but it's not really new. (pretty cool though if you like Samsho kind of atmosphere)
Azumi 2 released 2 years ago as well. It's the sequel to the first movie, but it's not as good.
I am not sure what is hot recently, but if you haven't seen any of them, I would recommend you the following:
- Princess Blade (Syuura Yukihime, Japanese)
- The Blade (刀, probably the best kung fu movie ever)
- Shinobi (it's Japanese too, but still pretty good!)

Man Azumi is like 5 years old...Anyway, there really hasn't been to many good MA films...
Anyway, here some of the following films to checkout
Seven Swords - Decent Tsui Hark film w/ some badass characters
The Promise - Very beautiful w/ some crazy wire fu. The ending was quite good
Sho Po Lang - Hong Kong tries to bring the action back...Crappy story but brutal fights.
Fatal Contact - Another crappy story but some cool fights
But seriously, if you want to watch badass kung fu film, go back to the classics from the Shaw Bros or old school Sammo flicks...
Just checked KungFuCinema.com and immediately what caught my eye was Jackie Chan and Jet Li making a movie together... something I just can't pass up.
i haven't seen seven swords..wut is the consensus in terms of swordfighting movie...badass? or just ok.

Drunken Master
Eight Diagrams Pole Fighter
Last Hurrah for Chivalry

He has Nothing but Kung Fu
Death Duel of Kung Fu
Born Invincible
The Seven Grandmasters
The Mystery of Chess-Boxing

Secret Rivals 2
Filthy Guy: The Return of Secret Rivals
The Victim
Shaolin Temple
New School
Legend of the Wolf (Greatest martial arts film ever in my opinion)
Dragon Inn
Fist of Legend
Once Upon a Time in China
Swordsman 2
Tai Chi Master

Wheels on Meals
Jackie Chan's Police Story
Jackie Chan's Police Story 2

You're missing quite a few classic old school films...I usually dont knit pick but these are usually the first few films i would mention if i was going to name the top 10 MA films of all time...
Way of the Dragon
Shaolin Challenges Ninja
Knockabout
The Master
Prodigal Son
Warriors Two
Just to name a few...
Also for New school, you're missing Dragons Forever, probably one of the best MA film of all time...
As for Seven Swords, i thought the characters had some badass weapons...The good guys & bad...The movie is dark like Tsui Hark's other movie The Blade...The fighting is quite good for new film...The only downfall of the film probably the flow of the movie...The movie was suppose to be 4hrs long but got butchered to like 1:45...So lots of the characters weren't develop...
Here's the intro to see if you're interested.

I know, I know. The ones you named all deserve to be on there, but that's the thing; there were about 5,000 "old-school" kung fu films made between 1972 and 1984 inclusive in Hong Kong alone.
Of the ones I've seen (probably in the 1,000-2,000 range), there are at least a few hundred I really liked.
I could just as easily add on to your list with
"36th Chamber of Shaolin"
"Enter the 36th Chamber of Shaolin"
"Five Fingers of Death"
"Hapkido"
"18 Bronzemen"
"18 Bronzemen 2"
and many, many others.

Flash Point was pretty cool, but it didn't quite live up to the preview.
Shit I saw it in Kowloon, so that was awesome. Felt legit.
