I went to the plaza, and walked along the whole strip and looked at each door and none of them were arcades. (I'm talking about the one that has a CIBC at one end and a beer store)

Damn coin slot for 3rd strike is broken (swallows your quarters).

So then I bang the machine and one of the guy caught me doing it and tells me not to hit the machine, I tell him "well what am I suppose to do it took my quarter".

He walks away and I put another quarter in. Then in the middle of the game against someone he comes over and opens the coin slot thing and disturbs the game, and puts in an extra credit.

And even worse, put on the world scale with the japs, only Jeff has managed to do well and I didn't see him placing at SBO :( So essentially, our best at 3S are only as good as the upper-mid tier Jap players if we're lucky, so why trash on the marvel guys and not the rest? And lets not even start with our CvS2 scene. . .

This local rivalry is what matters, because without it what's the point? With the amount of competition we have its a miracle we even have this much trash talking going on. I hope I'm around long enough to see it happen to but the reality is I won't be and they won't be. I tell them the suck in the same vain I say that I suck at Marvel/3S/Guilty Gear/Tekken/fill in the blank. I could walk into an arcade and beat all the scrubs. I could beat a good portion of people who know what they're doing. I don't delude myself into thinking I'm good at those particular games though. I especially don't get bent out of shape when someone tells me I'm shit at it. I can't even count how many times I've been told I'm a bad CvS2 player despite playing it "well" for years upon years. I can't speak for Rising Player because I don't know him but Alex has been a student of the competitive scene for a while and he knows what I'm talking about it's a put down, it's just the reality of it. I wouldn't be so naive as to say he sucks at Accent Core. If he wants to get better at Marvel, all the power to him. I don't think he'll put in the time and energy necessary to get it done and stick by what I said.

You're comparing top 3 to the rest of the field, which quite frankly is a joke. Do you dismiss all the insanely good players who consistently place top 5 in their monthlies. Do the guys like Demon Hyo or Smoothviper suck because they take a money back seat to Justin, Sanford, and Yipes? Get that shit out of here. A fair assessment would be where have Canadian players placed in US majors ATTENDED (going into the US isn't down the street no more than getting US players up here for T8 is).

You've managed to choke coming 17th three times in CvS2 when you gave a damn (and you were GOOD at the time) and have a brutal reputation of losing to US players in MvC2 (a game you've been playing since it started and have never given up on) that we all know you're capable of beating. Those people I mention above pushed through and placed well. Talking down about players just because they didn't cash is disgusting.

The only actual results to base that comparison off of in a tournament attended by more than 1 person is Evolution World 2006. The results are not hard to find. Many Canadian players placed very well and above high level Japanese competition. Your comparsion has no merit and is frankly a giant leap of faith.

If RP talked shit on Alex GG game, he'd have something to get upset about. But marvel? Are you joking? First of all, no need to go bashing my success at tournaments in responding to your own attack on newer players. How does setting new flames fix the older ones (screw fighting fire with fire. . .)? Both Demon Hyo and smooth viper find their way into the top when sanford/yipes don't do as good as they're expected to do. Smoothviper came 3rd at evo vegas, and I don't see how you're putting him on the backburner. And demon hyo was the one who eliminated sanford. . . I'm not saying only top 3 matters, as wong is the only player in existence who always seems to come in the money. What I am saying is that the other two spots are filled by a select few, the players that I don't think Canada can compare to unless something insane happens, but everything else is up for grabs. This is why I chose this as a standard for comparison, because we all know that bry is capable of taking on everybody who has never placed in the money and I'm sure you would bet on him over each one of them.

If you understand that point, then it should be clear why I chose that as a standard by which to compare our skill in other games, because I saw that you singled out marvel. How much better are we in the other games on a global scale? If Bry can take on everybody outside of say the top 10 in the WORLD, then why can't I apply the same standard to the other games? The comparison I made and the standard I set was to discredit this point. You came here essentially saying our marvel scene is garbage (which it is compared to NY or Cal). The whole point of me going on like that is to point out how delusional you'd have to be to not say the same thing about all the other games. I was in no way trying to say that our scene is trash, but I'm saying how outrageous your point was by likening it to the other games. Saying "We're all shit at marvel" when we have at least one player who can compete with everybody who isn't at the very top means a lot. Just because Canadian 3S isn't far off from American 3S doesn't mean we are on an international level yet, which to me puts us in the same boat as we are in marvel.

I would NEVER disregard the high placings of canadians at majors. I haven't been able to do it, and I know how much work it is, probably better than most people. . . I put the placings into perspective in an attempt to show how insane it is to run around saying that our marvel scene sucks when on a global scale its probably one of the best. . . As is TO 3S and OG MTL CvS2. However, not once has a canadian gone as far on a global scale as Ack in 3S or bry in MvC2. They're really the only players to test themselves and have done well against the absolute top in their games.

Wow, don't throw me under the bus to prove a point. Is this all even necessary. Well going back to that weekend, I played very bad. I hadn't practiced 3S since December after my horis died on me. That was after I got 3rd at NEC7. I practiced a month for NEC last year and it showed. Just google my Chun (JWONG) vs Ken (Shinshay) or my KOFiend vs Shinshay match from NEC7 and you'll see a significant difference from then and now.
