I thought that they might be superior for one of the systems?

Not in this case. I've heard nothing on any differences between the two. They have the same flaws IIRC.

Oh my mistake, I misread as 'should you get vol 1 or 2?'
As far as I know, there's no difference between the xbox and ps2 versions

Get Cacom Classics Collection #2. That is the one with Super Turbo on it. As far as PS2 vs Xbox, get whatever you like better. I like PS2 better.

The ps2 version is the version they use at tournaments.

The ps2 version is the version they use at tournaments. It's the version they used at Evo. Given recent negative talk about the port of SSF2T, I doubt it will continue.

The XBox versions have shorter load times when initially starting up a game (only noticeable on Volume 2, it's about the same on Volume 1) but the in-game experience is identical. I have them on XBox because ironically at the time I had more arcade stick options available for it than for my PS2.

The SFII iterations on Volume 1 actually have a load time prior to each match starting (even if it is just one second or so, I mean come on). Also in line with what goodm0urning said, SSF2T on Volume 2 is a competent port but not something you're going to hone your tournament skills on.

Both collections are absolutely worth owning if you even remotely like arcade games though given the price. You're basically getting Capcom Generations 1 through 4 for next to nothing by comparison.
