Hello all. I'm just wondering if there are any anime fighting games you SRKrs would recommend, or if they're all wastes of time. I ask because I'm thinking of getting Bleach: Shattered Blade, and wanted to get some expert opinions before sinking fifty bones on it.
Also, search doesn't seem to be working, so if there's already a thread for this, kindly lock this one and direct me there.
Thank you kindly.

In that case, I looked it up and the name of the game is Shaman King: Funbari Spirits. It only came out in JPN for the PS2, but the official site is here.

Oh and alter, have you heard of Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution? Is that Shippuden or is it a different game?

uhh.. off the top of my head..
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star)
Melty Blood (Tsukihime)
Eternal Fighter Zero (Kanon, Air and some others.. not sure)
Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen! 4
Narutimate Accel
Bleach DS 1 and 2
Bleach: Heat The Soul 1-..5 i think?
Dont get Clash of Ninja Revolution.. just import GNT4. Cheaper, and a better game all around.

IIRC, Naruto: Clash of the Ninja is a fighting game series on the Gamecube. I believe the "Revolution" version of the Clash of the Ninja is the most recent iteration and on the Nintendo Wii.

Naruto Clash of Ninja 2 isn't too bad. It's not really deep but I find it really fun. There was also this 2D Inuyasha fighter for the PSX that my friend has that wasn't too bad either, I think it's called Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale . I also found the 2D Gundam fighter (don't know name) to be amusing as well.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 is actually pretty good. There are a few high-level play matches on Youtube. A tournament with 45 entrants* took place about two months ago. Gundam Battle Assault 2 is also another game you should take a look at.

^ The screen wasn't projecting in real-time, so it affected a lot of the player's timing. It's still worth a view.

There was a DBZB3 tourney in nashville a few months after the game came out. about 50 people showed up.
The game honestly gets kind of boring in high level play because it gets really defense and mind game based because of the teleport. that, and this tourney allowed breathrough capsules only.
So yeah, SSJ4s and Omega Shen Long was mostly what you saw. (from what I understand, all characters are set to default capsules for most of the tournies) there are alot of ways to balance B3.
the breatrough tiers are alot different than the standard tiers.

I'm a fan of DBZ so i'll play the games, but otherwise as a fighting game fan, the DBZ games make me want to cry!
Why oh why do they keep trying to "capture the DBZ feel" and failing for the most part? Why not just make a solid, kickass 2D fighter with DBZ characters?
Basically Throw DBZ characters into the MVC2 engine! It'll let the guys can fly around and launch over-the-top attacks DBZ-style, and at the same time benefit from a fun fighting engine that does not SUCK.

Those DBZ games are actually pretty good. And they have made 2D DBZ fighters before. Of course, you would have had to own a SNES(prongs removed for ez mod) and a modded PSX.
And the current DBZ games aren't that bad. They have their own funky mechanics to them. Especially Super DBZ, which is actually pretty good.
And lol @ HnK recommendation. It's fun for casual play, but not for serious play.
Anyway, play Arcana Heart FULL.

I like the defensive play (probably because I'm a turtle) at higher levels. Omega Shenron definitely has a broken factor to him. He's the only character who starts with all 8 ki gauges maxed -- an enormous advantage. The default capsules generally aren't the standard for tournaments from what I've seen and who I've played.

He's top tier in just about all rules of play becuase of that simple fact. Same with Kid buu.
Goku in Vegeta are pretty high in breaktrough (as long as you DON'T use thier 4ki moves) play, but fail in the other modes.
Goku is better, just because he can transform inot more modes with less ki. Most players base the entire match around getting to SSj4, but I see alot get to SSJ3 and do just fine. Vegeta has to work a bit harder, because he only has tree modes. It's more "all or nothing" with him.
Piccolo is godly outside of breatrough. His strechyness gives him an advantage over most characters.
I see some players use Cell and Frieza too. Frieza because he can stack transformations really fast and has DEEEATH WWAAAAYVE. Cell for some of the same reasons, and his energy field is pretty beastly.
And Brolly, because he does far too much damage to be so fast.
But yeah, the games main strat comes from teleporting. So ki is too important. This is why Kid buu and Omega Shen long are the top two.

Im sorry, did you use the Mai Otome game and decent in the same sentence?
Are we playing the same game? Its probably one of the worst fighters ive EVER played. Bleach Blade Battlers is a close 2nd...tho naruto ex for the wii is absolutely terrible...as is the DS naruto fighting game...bleach ds 1 was full of infinites and would be good if it was...well...bleach ds 2.
Some games that im a fan of are:
Melty Blood, Bleach DS 2, Eternal Fighter Zero, Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 (only #4, thus making it far diff from the clash of ninja series).
People say good things about HnK and Jojo's, but i dont personally like those games. The Narultimate Hero series is ok, im not a fan, but there's a decent following for it. The Shippuden version is pretty popular. Battle Stadium DON is kinda fun if you dont take it seriously, and jump superstars/ultimate stars is pretty fun at a casual level against your friends...umm...thats all i can think of for right now...if i think of more later, ill post, but thats my opinion =P

If you want to play a Kenshin fighter, you might as well just play Last Blade 2, since half the characters were based off characters from that series anyway.
Moriya and Hiko/Soujiro, Washizuka and Saito, Mukuro and Shishio, Hibiki and Soujiro, Amano is apparently a carbon copy of a minor villain from early on in the comic.
If you're a JoJo fan though, Capcom did a great job with it. There are tons of obscure references to the comics all over the game and they captured the art style perfectly.

Without having to do anything to your system ? Definitly bleach DS 2nd, they have a nice community and there is usually someone to play online for that game. Jojo's is really good too if you have a DC (I'm not sure if it came out or PS2 later or not), DBZ is alright for some anime fun alotho the game gets stupid after a while. Naruto fighting games are good, I don't remember the name, but the Gamecube game that plays like Super Smash Bros, I played it at a friends place once and I'd definitly pay it again if i had a chance.

I'm gonna tell you right now Kid Buu is not top tier. He's way too slow to defend himself at close range.
What's so special about Death Wave? Lots of characters have moves that do the exact same thing.

The majority of fighting games based on popular anime are pretty low-quality. If you still want an anime style then you should stick with the "actual" fighting games like Guilty Gear and there's some popularity growing around Arcana Hearts but I still find AH unimpressive.

Wish I could help. But everyone took all the good ones. But ones that need a second mention are Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension, Battle Stadium D.O.N, Jump Super/Ultimate Stars, Budokai 3, Super Dragon Ball Z, Bleach Blade Battlers, Heat the Soul Series, Bleach DS, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure (Japanese Version),Narutimate Hero/Ultimate Ninja Series, Gekitou Ninja Taisen/Clash of Ninja Series, Hokuto No Ken, Kenichi, Yuu Yuu Hakusho Forever & 120%, Garouden Break Blow, and Gundam Battle Assault 1&2.
A game that deserves a mention is Voltage Fighter: Gowcaizer for the NeoGeo. Not the best game but it is very playable and very enjoyable.
A very anime inspired game that I thought I'd throw was Evil Zone for PS1. Again not the best game but seeing the inspiration by anime was cool. And I enjoyed playing it.
But I will leave it at this though...If you straight hood then repeat after me. I WISH THERE WAS A TENJHO TENGE FIGHTING GAME! I WISH THERE WAS A TENJHO TENGE FIGHTING GAME! Since I didn't play it I should avoid it then at least I know now, if you thought that I thought it had potential don't read too much into it. I won't say a game is bad until I play it since I know of many bad games rating wise that I actually liked playing that is why I will always give it a chance at least.

Sadly, its terrible. It looks pretty but the game itself is just not good. If youre a huge fan of bleach and just wanna shake a wiimote and have stuff happen, then go for it, but if youre looking for a real fighting game thats even halfway decent, then there's still some ways to go, haha.
