This just came up a minute ago. What are the tiers for the Mario Kart games? Is DK Jr. any good in Super Mario Kart?

Judging from mario kart ds...the fat guys go slow at first then fast...little guys start off fast then max speed is low...so im gonna go with an balanced game..especially since you can hit someone with a fucking shell

It's speed boosts with out using any items. It's also how you get away from blue shells in the ds.

last time I checked Yoshi and Dry Bones were among the top tiers, with Luigi not far behind.

Stopped playing because just playing the game to snake all day is boring as hell.

Top: Bowser, DK Jr.
I don't know the rest...

MKSC
Top: Bowser or Toad (depends on the track mostly)

MKDD
Top: Barrel Train (the best kart, period)
Bottom: Koopa Cruiser

MKDS
Top: Egg 1, ROB-BLS, Poltergust, Dry Bomber (depends on the track, for Wi-Fi Dry Bones in Egg 1 is the best, Egg 1 is the best for most tracks anyway, and Dry Bones is the lightest so he goes faster than everyone else off-road, plus karts don't knock each other as far as they do off-line so weight isn't as important there)
Bottom: Probably the karts with high drift, since they are horrible at snaking. Tyrant is pretty bad but it's good for a Baby Park single lap time, but I haven't played MKDS seriously in forever so what do I know?

I remember at plaing at magfest and in the tournament (4 player Cup)
ppl were racing to get the icon on one of those 3 characters...

I agree. It's probably pretty scrubby on my part, but I just don't like snaking, and since it seems impossible to win against people who snake without doing it yourself, that pretty much killed the game for me. It's like the Mario Kart equivalent of Step Guard in SC2.

Turning, using items, looking at the chaos like it was supposed to be. Beats the shit out of snaking.

I played for like a week after I learned to do that shit on the DS, it just wasnt fun.

It is esseintially turbo boosting repeatedly. But the way in which you do it it looks like a snake.

Snaking is very broken and makes Mario Kart DS a one of the worst Mario Karts imo. Mario Kart 64 is the most balance of the karts but essentially trackwise powersliding can be very useful if you know how to utilize them on near every turn you make.

Peach Toad and Yoshi are able to get Starman, Lightning, and Blue Shells (not as often) while in 2nd place. Have the highest acceleration and Top Speed. The heavyweights all get mostly Shells (3 red and green ones) and occasionally a Starman, but it doesnt help them much because theyre top speed isnt good enough for it to make a real difference in a race thats close. Then Mario and Luigi pretty much get items like bannana peels and 3 green shells the most then a starman here and there (never when they need it) and the other stuff like gimmic box.
Yeah Peach is rediculous in this game. If your losing your pretty much guarunteed to get what you need to win the race...thats how she works, its dumb!

As far as battle modes go, MK64 by far is god tier, MKDD is Kobun-tier.
