Ok, I can't quote the post itself because it was from the old thread.. but regarding the how some people in NYC don't get their license, it's really not worth it unless you live in LI or the bastard borough of NYC itself - Staten Island.

Everywhere else has pretty solid mass transit where it's just really not wise. Monthly Metrocards are cheap, my mom gets hers from this MTA program so she gets a metrocard with her check at the start of the month. Convenience.

I personally haven't learned to drive because I have Dyscalculia, and some of the symptoms of it are really not making me comfortable with the idea of driving. You can search for it on Wikipedia or even just a simple google search and you should understand. My mom's boyfriend however does drive, and he lives in Bed Stuy, not exactly the safest part of Brooklyn still..

Well typically people live close to some sort of supermarket. There's like five of em by me, and that's when you just grab the shopping cart (most families have one) and you go to the supermarket. That's what I do.

Also I have been taking the subways everywhere since I was 14, and I have never been raped or robbed on the train. Now I sit on the train with my iPod and my DS out and in my lap and I have never been threatened or nothing. You just have to be careful I guess especially during rush hours.

I mean sure people get robbed and raped and stuff like that on the streets and stuff but I have been in some bad parts of NYC and nothing has ever happened to me. My mom carries a little thing of either mace or pepper spray on a keychain though.

I don't get the appeal of cats as pets. There is absolutely nothing I have observed about them that is even slightly a positive quality. If I did care enough about animals to get a pet, a dog would seem like such a better choice. What do they even do? Cats just sit around, not particularly excited about anything. The dog will jump around in celebration when "master" comes home. I haven't seen cats do this. When out on a walk....the dog is excited and eager to go somewhere. I've seen people "walking" their cats, and it wasn't much walking going on at all. The stupid little shit just sits in one spot for years at a time, until "master" gets tired of this noneventful, boring ass activity, and picks up the cat so they can head back inside. Then the little bitches have this look and general attitude of "I don't trust you. Don't touch me....don't ever touch me."

Women just tend to love cats purely for the cuteness value....and most of that is just in the young "kitten" stage of their lives. They're not as "cute" when grown up. The dogs have that category owned too, with comparable cuteness factor in the puppy stage, and continuing on to adulthood, depending on the look of the dog.

I'm a door to door salesman, I have far more experience with pets than you. Trust me, there are plenty of playful, friendly, affectionate cats out there.

Cats are way more self-sufficient, are toilet trained, don't require as much maintenance, don't shit all over the house, don't cover you in spit, and don't make a bunch of fucking noise every time a car drives back or anything at all changes.

I mean, it's preference, but come on.

These little guys are big enough to play with. You have to play with them when they're young or else they'll be too depressed to even let you hold him. They'd try to escape every 30 secs. I'd have to agree. 3 was garbage. It didn't have that special something that 2 did. CoD2 was a simpler MP experience but felt much more refined. It could also be that by the time CoD3 came out, WW2 settings were getting sort of tired.

CoD4 seems like it takes all that was great with CoD2, and evolves it into a greater MP experience. It still feels a lot different but in a good way. I can't wait to play the single player campaign. Infinity Ward has a way with cinematic battles that I love so much.

Of course, you can get in trouble for downloading anything with copyright laws on it. Just try to be more careful, get some anti-fed programs or just use a private torrent tracker (Demonoid is pretty damn cool).

Nah. MGS works the way it does because it's a game. SO much would be lost if it was just a comic or a non-interactive movie. You don't know how much you're missing out by not playing the games, seriously.

There's also tons of stuff that only happens in game and not in cutscenes that HELLA pad the storyline. You get character insights you wouldn't usually get, and tons of backstory.

Also included in most games are "digital books", that give you the storyline from different points of views.

The thing is, I've barely played any epic adventure-type games. Because I NEVER had the time for it. Not during school and for damn sure not when I started earning a paycheck. I've always played stuff that was arcadey, or you could either finish in less than 2 hours, or you could pick up and leave off for a few days. The 'epic,' time-consuming side of gaming is completely alien to me and I don't know how the rest of you guys do it. That said, no way in hell am I missing MGS4.

There's those MGS PSP comic books, I'll see if they can add more insight in those installments that what I saw from just watching cutscenes and codecs.

Hopefully, the old dbz dvds are still available....I'll be on the hunt for them today. I really miss the old voices for Zarbon(Paul Dobson's badass aussie accent), Nappa, and early Vegeta in particular....as well as the Falconer music that everyone else in the world hates. Sure it wasn't anywhere near the caliber of something from John Williams or Hans Zimmer, but that new background music for the later "Uncut!" era that's alo on the current dvds is garbage. I miss the old "evil saiyan" theme, along with the old Vegeta theme, and the "something absurdly powerful just happened" theme(which was also used for those "big ass explosion! Lots of shit just got destroyed!" situations). Those old dvds are the only way to get that experience now, and they're a rarity now.

Oh you know, I haven't worked for 3 months. That really takes a toll on a man's ego. I'm looking for a job and I've decided to get rid of all my worldly possesions. I want to cut down to 3 suit cases, a bed, and eventually a computer.

Everything I own just seems like junk nowdays. I discovered that a man's goal defines him. That because of the accident, I had a sharp shift on goals on an unconsious level. Before the accident, my goal was to be happy and to do the things that were important to me.

After the accident, my economic problems caused me to shift my sights from my dreams to money, and that completely wrecked me. It really did, I was deobpressed and I didn't understand why, things that used to make me happy stopped appealing to me. I couldn't laugh about anything anymore, I stopped being charming, I stopped feeling attractive, and all and more because of the shift of personal goals.

So after figuring out what was happening on my head. I've decide to make it my
objective in a very real way, to make my life be a reflection of my goals. Which is making me smile again. I don't know about you guys but following through with your dreams in a real way, regardless of the obstacles or the logistics is the only way to be happy.

A man's vision of the world is arguably his greatest assest. People who make history and change lives are people who through will and action alone make their vision of the world a reality. So my vision of the world is important to me, I believe in leading a meaningful existance. I see so many of my peers giving in to the slow seduction of urban living. I can very much give up everything I am, and everything I want and shove myself in a fishbowl as so many others, or I can make the choices and the sacrifice it takes to do the things that I want. To live out my life as i see fit, that's important to me.

So for short, I am well. I a much better place mentally, but it's hard yo. Life it's hard, because it comes down to waking up every morning and saying, I'm amazing, no one can stop me, I can do anything I want and believing it. I had forgotten how hard it was to make the visions of the man I want to be a reality upon the world. But I'm gaining it back slowly, sometimes I'm filled with my old strenght and I once again understand the power of the mustard seed, and sometimes I spent all day wallowing one my short falls and I get nothing done.

More of our childhood is available on dvd than I thought. Today, I saw a Rescue Rangers dvd collection....I had no idea it even existed. In that same section, there was Heathcliff, Dangermouse(season packs and 1 big collection of every episode), various Popeye collections, The Real Ghostbusters, Captain N(!!! another I didn't know was out), Super Mario Bros. 3(and Super Show, but I already knew about that, and Super Show kinda sucked), Legend of Zelda, Bravestarr, and C.O.P.S.!!!

Haha the ad campaign for that thing was ridiculous, I must have seen at least 2-3 hours worth of commercials for it all put together. Each of those ads is what, 2-3 minutes? At the least? And they run one every single commercial break, at least 10 per hour (and I"m being conservative here on my estimates). I don't even watch much television, I just watched UFC and football, maybe left the TV one a little bit outside of that.

I concur with the Dane Cook hate, the guy is absolutely awful. I really do not understand why he has a following. I also don't understand the Mencia following either, or the Sarah Silverman following. These people are absolutely terrible. That black guy that was on Mad TV that makes terrible racist jokes and just does terrible impressions is also an awful comedian, but at least he seems to have no following. What the hell happened to all the funny comics? Chappelle obviously, but outside of him Chris Rock was one funny dude, and so was Leguizamo, and there were definitely some others. What the fuck is up with Star Jones' head? She literally weighs like 1/3 of what she used to when she was on The View, but she still has the same head, and that shit looks crazy. She has some sort of bobble-head thing going on, but her neck is buff as fuck. You can see all kinds of veins and muscles and shit, she has Hulk Hogan's neck, basically. I assume after she had her gastric bypass surgery she had some other cosmetic stuff done to remove some extra skin, and they sucked too much fat out of her neck. Or. It's become fashionable to hate Dane Cook now, which I find hilarious. I thought his Retaliation routine was pretty good, actually - the talking monkey/bank heist bit was good, the car alarm song was pretty funny, and I laughed my ass off at the bit with the kids smelling the scented markers. "I saw Jesus' eyes!" Haha, that's quality.

What's funny about the fashionable Dane Cook hate now though, is that the dude hasn't changed at all from when people loved him. It's the same routine and the same jokes - he's like a more psychotic version of Jerry Seinfeld. But it's been the same thing since day one - he spends like five minutes acting out these "have you ever noticed?" bits, and he engages in insane tangents off those bits whenever he feels like.

Like...when he spends like ten minutes pretending to be the couple that has the nothing fight or whatever...shit's dry as hell, and there's no jokes or punchlines in there. It's weird.

Vicious Circle was like an hour long version of that, which was not really that funny. It was even less original and creative than his other uncreative stuff, so I don't know, maybe people finally realized it then. But that's always been his gig - either it's really funny because you're like "oh that's so true!" or it's flat because you're like "oh...that's true. Okay...so?"

But now it's fad to hate whatever's popular just for the sake of hating...and it's funny to me that all these people trying to jump off the Dane Cook bandwagon don't realize that hating him is now a legitimate bandwagon movement in its own right.

Present company excluded, of course.

But yes, I'm just as clueless as to how he got the big following in the first place, because it's always been the same stuff. Marketing, I guess. Just like how it always is, and how shit like Good Charolette, Panic At The Disco, Soldja Boy, or whatever the fuck "musicians" are at the top of the charts now.

Like obviously, everyone's stand-up routines have bits where the wording and stuff has to be precise, like with punchlines and stuff...but you can see how Patton Oswalt isn't as good as like a on stage presence like Dave Chappelle or even like...Russell Peters or something, but that's why you have to respect his writing so much.
