Sony itself has no policy on 2D games, only Sony Computer Entertainment of America does, and even then their only policy is that if a 2D game is to be released to the actual console, it has to be released for a new game price, which generally makes stuff like Street Fighter Anniversary Collection happen, cause no one wants to pay 50$ just FOR 3rd Strike. You see company's releasing games to the PSN because they are allowed to make the 2D games less than a new game price, which means they'll actually get sales. (in fact, about the only way you're going to see 2D games come out for PS3 is if they are collections of older games, or most likely found in the store cause people are iffy on even buying a new 2D game for 50$.)

Sony Computer Entertainment of Japan has no policy regarding 2D games, at all, and neither does the European branch of Sony.

Sony does not allow PS3 games to be 2D unless they're download-only, and considering Capcom made the statement that "Sony fans will feel better after their megaton" next week, the game is definitely PS3-bound whatever it may be.

If it is SF4, it will without a doubt have 3D graphics but they will probably try to make it play and look as much as possible like a 2D game.

What PSN are you connecting to, works fine for me. 360 maybe a better buy overall, games, price, xbox live, but PS3, is a better console, thats a simple a fact. It just has no software whatsoever, and its unpractical to program for.

At least we know ST is coming out this year cuz it's still slated for a winter release i highly doubt they would push it back now especially considering it's the holiday season.

The announcements will most likely be gameplay footage of ST and at least 1 of the following:

-alpha4

-new fighting game with only capcom characters
-the original SF team getting back together and/or capcom japan getting involved with the SF franchise

One game ya'll seemed to have forgotten about is Rocketmen: Axis Of Evil. There have been a couple of posts about it on the Capcom Digital Blog and multiple sites have posted previews of the game recently. Apparently its due out very soon (Wikipedia's entry on it says October 11th, apparently that didn't come to pass). I wouldn't be surprised if one of the announcements was that the game was coming out this Wednesday or in the next few weeks.

Devil May Cry 4 is a couple of months away now, so a demo for that wouldn't come as a shock. There hasn't been word that a demo is actually coming, though, so that could be one of the announcements.

As far as fighting games go, the best I'm hoping for is either a date and/or some screenshots/videos of ST HD.

Why? No one has mentioned anything about PS3 exclusives. All they're hinting at is that the PS3 is going to be getting some love. So far going by the hints that Capcom empolyees having been dropping on Capcom message boards, there will be something SF related, and there will be multiple announcements. I doubt everything is going to pertain to the PS3, so I don't see why it's not good news to you. I can't imagine something SF related being an exclusive property...

Obviously I am aware of the wesker content, in fact that was what had me interested at the start, I have already S ranked remake and 0 ( hell I have trial edition also and a number of the dvd books and archives ) and have played them to death, so playing them as a rail shooter with new looks or angles simply does not interest me.

If after the faqs are out and reviews I find out there is a decent amount of wesker content and story, I may change my mind but as it stands the game really means little to me at this point, I am waiting for Re 5 to come out and while I am excited about it, I would be even more excited if it was done in classic style.

I have alot of complaints with RE 4, for one it has destroyed what RE was about, it killed everything that was unique about it and traded it for more fans to the series ( this part I am fine with ), we now have a quasi mgs perspective with some fps elements, gone is all the atmoshpere, jaw dropping pre rendered visuals ( hell some of the zero pre renders really do look photo real ) and many of the puzzle elements, it is pure run n gun action these days.

For the record RE 4 uses the EXACT same controls that the so called tank like past re games had, but that is the only similarity it really has left, that is not to say I think RE 4 was a bad game, I enjoyed it and mercs quite a bit but it simply does not replace the gameplay and experience I want that the classic re titles had, and it makes me very sad...while I understand people are noobs or simply cannot get used to old style RE that does not mean they should get rid of that style outright.

To me, everything that made the series great is gone, it's lost its magic imo.

So we don't see eye to eye on this, thats fine cause it really does not matter, you are either going to enjoy it or not, I have no plans on buying it so whatever.

Captain Commando was Capcom's old mascot. He's been long replaced by Mega Man after the games have gotten super popular, though. Also your assumption was right, he did appear before Mega Man... in Section Z, though he was never given his name till the NES version. If you look at some old NES manuals, you'll see Captain Commando in them too. Like this one for Bionic Commando (http://jarcas.dreamhosters.com/rdocs/Bionic_Commando_-_Manual_-_NES.pdf).

While the Capcom-developed game was highly regarded (and even named as one of GameSpot's Greatest Games of All Time), the franchise has been dormant outside of a 1992 Game Boy Advance version and a 1999 Game Boy Color pseudo-sequel.

That's about to change, as Capcom has revealed to GameSpot that it is developing a new Bionic Commando game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Simply called Bionic Commando, the new game will bring back the original game's hook (pun intended), with players able to use the main character's bionic grappling arm not only to navigate levels but to take out enemies at close range, rappel down sheer surfaces, or toss objects (like cars) at enemies.

Where the original Bionic Commando followed players on a mission to rescue a fellow agent named Super Joe, the new game's storyline appears to carry a more cynical edge. After serving his country honorably in conflict with the Imperials, technologically enhanced agent Nathan Spencer is framed for a number of crimes by his superiors and sentenced for execution. Fate intervenes, as an experimental terrorist weapon is detonated in Ascension City on the day Spencer is to be executed. With the city in ruins and Spencer uniquely equipped to handle the many skyscrapers, monorails, and suspended roadways in ruins, the government reluctantly turns to Spencer for help.

To help the game live up to its pedigree, Capcom has made development of the game an international affair. An American producer, a Japanese creative advisor, and Stockholm, Sweden-based studio GRIN will be collaborating on the project. GRIN's most recent projects have included the PC conversions of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and its sequel.

Altough I love Mega Man, Brian Dunn said "everyone at Capcom knows all the fans are extremely anxious for a NEW SF game, believe me. That's about all I can say about that...", giving me the hope of a new game with at least SF characters, SF4 or CFE2 or whatever.
