should i just be going to sleep earlier or what? because i'm getting around 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

A line of coke should do it.

Could be your diet, too. I know I have more energy if i have stuff without grease or oil in the morning, like a bagel with cream cheese and boiled eggs, with some OJ (that's just one example, not saying that's all i eat ever for breakfast -.- ).

Some people go with caffeine but, depending on how old you are, i wouldn't really advise it if you can help it.

How long has this been going on? I use to get 12-14 hours of sleep then recently I've cut it down to 7-8 hours and I still feel tired I usually just grab a caffeinated drink and chug though it.

Maybe its just a rapid change and your body needs to get use to it?

sociology? psychology?

oh man, srk is going to start bashing those subjects. i think there's an epidemic in srk. people don't like those subjects here for some reason lol.

Also, do you eat right before going to class? Don't eat heavily before going to those classes.

Some people's body temp is still low around those times (sleeping mode), so you need to do stuff that'll wake u up.

try exercising, like jumping jacks or something just to get the blood flowing.

or look at porn. and go beast on ur milf teacher.

other methods would be drinking coffee or an energy drink.

tape recorder FTW some teachers allow it

i heard that theres some technology coming out soon in colleges that lets you synch the writing on the board to your comp

pills work too, i also hear that certain foods make you sleepy so like what are you eating for breakfast.

being in class doesn't mean you're partaking in the joys of learning. Some professors seem like they are hell bent on making subjects as dry and boring as possible. Also if you're an engineering, cs or math major chances are you'll have professors that can't even speak English.

And smell like they jog to work everyday from Saudi Arabia. How the fuck can I be expected to do differential equations when your aroma gives me a headache?

A common occurrence in college is a big fat decline in exercise. You've gotta study and hang out in a dorm all day. Cafeteria's real close and so are classes, so for the most part, you don't do anything. Metabolism slows, weight is put on, and you wanna lay around & sleep more thus digging yourself deeper.

Hit the gym. It'll suck for about two weeks and then you'll feel a lot better. Also, hit the hay an hour earlier. But, if you work out at about 4 or 5 that won't be a problem.

I remember when i used to fall asleep during my 1st/2nd period class. but when the teacher calls out, shit wakes me right up, and id never fall asleep again for that entire class. Its like my heartbeat made me stay up.

The shock factor from having the teacher raise his/her voice while you're sleeping really helps me. because you never know whether its from the teacher catching you, or what. shit had me scared.

so my advice is to walk into class scared as fuck. never mind for what reason, just walk in the classroom shook like a mufucka. your ass will never even think about falling asleep again.

Its weird. As long as I'm undisturbed I can sleep forever. I use to have blackout drapes over all my windows so the light wouldn't get in. Close the door I could sleep for days.

My mom use to come in and check on me around the 18 hour mark to see if I was dead or not.

Try eating breakfast and/or exercising before class. Proper posture and active note taking help as well.

Maybe your sleeping too much? Usually when sleep for about 7-8 hours i'm madd tired, but When I see for about 5 or 6...I'm hype in the morning and all through the day.

Also, be ethusiatic(sp?) about going to school and do something to look forward to, like yeah imma participate in class, and then reward yourself with something you like afterwards i.e. food and/or masturbation

If you don't, try having a healthy, big breakfast in the morning, so you can get the energy you need in the early part of your day. While I never fell asleep during morning classes, it was the night classes that got me, mostly because I never bought or brought supper with me, since I always waited until I got home (10pm-11pm). Semi-boring class + no energy = good chance of me falling asleep. Some days in that class got really bad to the point where I couldn't keep my head up as I was drift to sleep, so I'd bang my head on the table involuntarily, until class ended. So yeah...do something.

I usually just drink coffee. Stop by starbucks, order a Venti Vanilla Chocolate Coffee with 3 shots of espresso, 3 sugars, no milk. That will get you going for the whole day.

Peppermint oil and hot sauce are two ingredients that can help you get alert. Caffeine is a good thing but only in moderation. Eating before class also helps, or just nibbling or drinking during class. Take notes instead of pretending to listen, it keeps you busy and therefore awake, even if you aren't really learning.

Perhaps you could get someone to launch a whole new brand of wakeup shoryuken on you? (oh god I'm going to get shot for that some day)

I need to sleep at least 12 hours, but even then I'm STILL tired as heck during the day.

I went to sleep yesterday at 5pm and woke up at 7am, went to school and fell asleep thoroughout the day.

Tell the teacher that his class is boring and that he needs to spice things up with a good old fashioned monkey knife fight.

For real though, just stand up for about 5 min and you should be good for the rest of the class. If the teacher asks you what you’re doing, just tell him that his material makes you drowsy and that if you don't stand up, you'll go to sleep.

You know what I could never understand? They say that the older you get, the less sleep you need. Yet there are always jokes about older people just randomly falling asleep. As well as us witnessing out grandparents or other people fall asleep. But, you take these same old farts, sit them in a room with Ben Stein giving a lecture on physics of drying paint, and they will outlast your ass. THAT'S AFTER BEING UP ALL NIGHT!!!

Being Military, we have to sit through a lot of bullshit ass briefings. You fall asleep in them shits and you get called out. As long as I'm working, I have no problem staying awake. I know that's with anybody. But you have these old ass officers that are asleep any other time you see them. But when you’re at these meetings boxing, they are sitting tall all wide eyed and bushy tailed showing no signs of drowsiness. On top of that, they aren't having coffee or anything, just sitting their listening to this stuff.

I remember this one time; I was in a hazardous material training class. It wasn't really a class, more like a one on one since my schedule kept me for making it to the actual class. While the chick was giving her lecture, I was falling asleep right there in her face! She was like 4ft away from me and I was nodding harder than a motherfucker. I don't know what that is, but I could get full nights sleep of 8 hours and still be tired as shit during the later part of the workday. I don't think anyone should have to resort to any kind of supplement to stay awake unless it’s for extreme cases. You know, like you might die or something if you fall asleep. But when you get enough sleep, you should just be able to stay awake. I think the main thing is that you are comfortable as fuck, so you go into sleep mode. So just try to make your situation as uncomfortable as possible.

I used to fall asleep in my undergrad law classes. Not really due to the professor or material, I'm just a jerk...

Anyway, he apparently called on me on class, while I was dozing off, I answered the question and fell right back asleep.

Shit was right out of an 80's movie.

But yea, otherwise, coffee...

Or sit somewhere where you can kind of see up some hot chick's dress. You'll stay awake just waiting for that opportunity.

hold on, i have to ask yall this question.

anyone had a teacher back in HS who was so boring, he puts himself to sleep during his own lectures?
my math teacher, back in my 11th grade. he was substitute teacher in place of our real one. man, sure he was boring, but i had never seen a nigga put HIMSELF to sleep!
and the lecture was'nt even about the classwork. he would just tell us other shit that we needed to know pertaining to life, careers, and what happens if we dont get our act straight.

"you know, you kids think school is all play, lets see what'll happen if you come to work late. how long can you kids last in the real world? why, when... i was.........your age......*snore*....we never...had...*snore...internet......*knocked out*.

unless you're taking some super high level psych & soc classes it doesn't really matter whether you're awake or not. if you absolutely have to stay awake though bring some earphones or something.

taking notes also helps you stay awake, but really what notes are there to be taken in psych?
