Previous Street Fighter 4 Hint's

Wasnt there a hint at Street Fighter 4 in one of capcoms Art books?
Maybe eternal challenge?

I think something was said to the effect that.

IF street fighter 4 is gonna be made it will be anounced around (This Time) for the 20th aniversary.

Anyone know what im talking about? maybe im just confused..

But who thinks this game could have atleast been in the planning stages at that Point.. that was a couple years ago wasnt it?

Not to mention one of the dudes said the game was in Dev long then most people probably think..

Im pulling for next year =)

Its the Street Fighter 4 Board so i made a Street Fighter 4 thread.. and it was meant to spark some discussion about the earliest points when Street Fighter 4 was hinted at..

Tired would be a better word. "In the beginning..." there were alot of threads popping up and whatnot, regarding good topics [those that are still around AFTER Saotome's cleaning] and bad topics [those that AREN'T around anymore, which regarded subjects such as WHAT COLOR HAIR DO YOU THINK KEN WILL HAVE?].

You may have had good intentions stating this question, however making a thread about it probably wasn't the best way to go about it.

Should we talk about any "hints" that could say "SF4 will be released", now, or should we talk about the futility or utility of this thread?

I don't really believe that there was anything like a hint... Not even the fans, including myself, really have believed in a whole new series, have they?
I, for my part, haven't. I was very surprised (and happy^^) as I've heard about a new SF series:

1. Street Fighter has always been 2D and the one and only time Capcom tried to go 3D, the series wasn't as successful, though I like SFEX2+ alot.

2. 2D games don't fit the tastes of mainstream players, I'm talking about the ones that only play once or twice a week, not about the hardcore players that make threads about another MvC2 infinite the world hasn't seen yet...


But the release of SF4 made quite an impact after it has been announced, so SF might not be as "non-mainstream" as I've thought.

well I have the book
and it said there was no plans for it

but I think maybe it was more common sense

true i must have read what someone else posted on a forum and took it out of context..

and it would suck to have a 20th aniversery with no street fighter 4..
but we had a 15th.. so you never know..

Still for them to give a projected release of next year im assuming the game was in dev atleast for alittle while by now..

i mean its not easy to make a game in a year now in days.. im sure capcom is putting some serious effort into SF4

they know this could make or break the SF name.
not necessarily on its past "Thats set in stone" but for its future.

And yeah Street Fighter still has alot of casuals pulling for it..

alot of the casuals grew up with it and are working and what not. might not have the time to invest like they used to..

But still the thought of playing a new Street Fighter after all these years on a day off or whatever is inticing.

i think everyone knows the street fighter name even the younger gen.

I think the previous hints/rumours were as follows:

A Capcom rep said that a certain red banded warrior would return. (true)

That Ryu would be the only returning character (false-- Though the trailer is promotional we can assume that Ken is in it.)

That Mel -Ken's son would be in it (uncertain)

It will feature 24 characters with recognisable faces like Guile and will appear on the atomiswave (False - unsubstantiated).

Will feature Sheng Long (false- unsubstantiated).

I remember last October a bunch of people joking at the idea of it being announced in the near future because Japan had just recently hired a grip of artists. Funny enough, that could very well be part of the beginning. Though Capcom has been working on a ton of other titles as well.
