View Full Version : PS to 360 converters: What's the problem?

I own a Pelican PS2/PS3 converter. I don't have a PS3 but it works flawlessly on the PC and at EvoNorth(only PS3 use so far) with my HRAP2. So why exactly can't we get a decent converter for our beloved Xbox 360s(don't own one)? I have a JoyBox-like converter for PS-original Xbox.

The thought had occured to me: are there are 360 controller PCBs small enough to fit into a 2 15/16 x 2 13/16 (inches) casing? Or possibly a way to hack into the Pelican converter and reconfigure it (don't ask me how) somehow so a 360 system can recognize a PS controller or stick as a 360 controler?

Edit: I am fully aware of the XFPS and its laginess. I have no interest in it whatsoever.

check out XFPS... google it, it's what you're looking for, just costs a lot

The reason is MS put in protection so only their licensed controller could work. End of story. Until someone REALLY damn smart cracks it, it ain't gonna happen.

Yes, very possible and very doable. Problem is, most people wouldn't like the idea of paying $150+ for a single converter made that way, and itd quickly reach $250+ if they wanted analogs converted as well.

I have heard that plugging in a usb hub with a licensed wired controller + whatever controller you actually want to use works (I am thinking Playstation stick with adapter). Can someone test this?

Is there any specific reason for such protection?

And it's not generally a reliable device.

microsoft gets to have full control on what is released under their console. im sure the usb security will get cracked eventually, but just like console modding, MS can release another update and kill the method and/or ban you from live.

the chances of ever seeing legitimate converters will be EXTREMELY rare. no way in hell MS will want sony products working on their shit heh...

I don't understand why Xbox is coming out with all of these fighters and they don't even have a descent stick... it makes no sense at all...
