didn't see a thread for this but it needs to be mentioned.

Can we please get something that IS arcade perfect? no differences in speed, no random shit that only applies to console or anything else you could possibly think of.

For god sakes, we can get a monkey to use his thoughts to control a robotic arm but we can't get arcade perfect console port versions? I say fuck those monkey and science. Arcade perfect ports need to be a standard from here on out.

We don't even know if it's going to be released in the arcades yet.

Back in 2000, it'd be a given but today production costs have gone up and arcade attendance is at a trickle of what it used to be.

Neo-Geo games?

Neo-Geo games?

Those are usually some of the worst offenders because of aspect ratio problems and low budgets. Just about every neo geo port on the Dreamcast had some kind of sound or video problem attached to it.

90% of the PS2 versions are excellent. The Last Blade Collection is the only one I know of that is flat out bad, and Garou I believe has some minor JD issues, but not so bad that it's unplayable like the DC version.

I'm not sure, but I think he meant the Neo-Geo AES home console versions, being arcade perfect versions of the arcade game. But that was because the Neo-Geo home console was identical to the arcade hardware. So I don't know if those really count as ports.

So to ensure the same success with Street Fighter 4, the arcade version would need to run on an XBox 360?

Sorry to go slightly off-topic but what's wrong with the DC version of Garou other than the audio being off sync sometimes?

Oh, and when you say JD you are talking about Just Defend right? I'm not very good with fighting game acronyms.

I know of someone who is currently in japan for work. He's staying across the street from a local arcade and that arcade has sectioned off an area for SF4 cabs.

Tekken 6 has arcade cabs already out and I'm positive that capcom will release sf4 cabs.

I'm indifferent. On one hand, I don't care if they release it in arcades seeing as arcades are dead in the U.S..

....

Really all I have to say. I just...don't care about it being released in arcades.

Slow down on Terry's stage is one of them, I believe there might have been some input issues also...

I'm not surprised but it's cool to hear!

Something I'm wondering about is whether or not the Japanese will have an arcade release for the new SF2 HDR, or if it will remain some bizarre American console novelty for them. I'd think it would be kind of sad if Japanese ST players stopped coming to Evo because they'd never touched "our" version.

(Under the assumption that it does indeed kick all of the ass we expect it will) I also think that it would be a ridiculous for Capcom Japan to NOT release it in arcades there... but no one passes up good business opportunities for arbitrary principles quite like an old established Japanese company.

there has never been a console port that has been 100% arcade perfect, some come close at 99% but something is always off.

a popular misconception, MVC2 on DC is not arcade perfect but its basically 99%. DC marvel is considerably faster, I think people have said up to 30% faster. Even if the percentage isn't right, you can tell the difference between DC and arcade speeds and if you want to say, well, its just 30% faster, that means its 30% harder to block and blocking magneto\storm along with other characters are hard enough to block in arcade. Also, there are other nuances that no one raises a big fuss about. IIRC, viscant posted something up about anakaris having something in the arcade that wasn't in the console version.

Also, we need to have the same console port as the japanese aside from the language. I wouldn't mind little add ons they would port to the US release but for the love of god, please keep the engine, hit boxes, speed the same. It would be a damn shame if we had another ST fiasco...

quite true but that doesn't mean we should accept them. I would accept a 95%-99% game accuracy but we really don't need something like ps2 marvel, ccc2 or xvsf for the ps1.

I think they'll play it simply because it's a new game. I mean, I'm sure if the HD Remix was Japan-only somehow, Westerners play it however they could because it's a new Street Fighter. Well, a new ST.

Oh I agree 100%, I don't doubt for a second that a ton of them will download it for their consoles regardless of whether or not it gets an arcade release! Maaan, I would download that game if I was the only person on the planet who liked Street Fighter.

In Japan though, having it in the arcade will make or break whether or not it gets heavy competition, which is a near-requirement for top skill to develop.

I mean, sure there will be a TON of carry-over skill from regular ol' ST, but they're not going to fly over the Pacific to play something they don't know. It's really cool that they fly over for ST now, and I'm positive I'm not the only person who hopes they will continue to do so in future.

Viscant is wrong. He said that Anakaris infinite with Cyclops B wouldn't work on DC, but it does. Unless you mean something else.

Are you saying that a beta test is starting soon? Or that the game is almost done? Is there a sign hanging up or something? If you could ask your friend to take a picture of the sign and post it up so we can get a look at it that'd be great.

Which arcade, btw? Gotta be in the heart of Ikebukuro or Shinjuku if we're talking an SF4 beta test. I'm not sure how much residential zoning there is there but your friend's rent has got to be astronomical.

Oh what kind of cabs are they? How much space is sectioned off? Thanks!

I'm not surprised but it's cool to hear!
You aren't surprised that they went from concept art to sectioning off space for official release without any news leaking in between?

EDIT: Here's a pic of that guy shoultzula knows in Japan playing SF4 earlier today at the local arcade across the street: link (http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20020919/jamma201.jpg)
