All of the other Street Fighter titles have seen multiple releases. Turbo/Super Turbo, The alpha games, The different versions of SF3, whatever. Do you think this will be the case with 4? Between the dead arcade scene and downloadable content, I'm wondering if we won't be buying this game several different times!

Without a doubt the game will have different versions to correct balance issues, but I'm wondering if we'll see different releases with new stages/moves/characters like we have.

you know capcom is the king of the rehash!

I think there'll just be one release, with any major bugs/balance issues that slip through QA being fixed via download. Re-releasing what'll seem like the same game to casuals doesn't seem like a wise move in the hostile market we have today.

I've hoped for a long time that fighting games released commercially would get downloadable patch/updates (for a fee or not) that would add balance tweaks and stuff like new music, colors, costumes, music, and gameplay modes. Capcom has the chance to be the first to make this happen with a well-known fighter, and I hope they jump on it.

I'm buying a purple fireball for 120 ms points! It matched the purple wig I bought for Ken.

Well, Capcom certainly has a track record for multiple releases, I would not be suprised.

I hope they don't do that.

Initial releases tend to be really broken, so I won't mind.

Between the dead arcade scene

Also fyi, Arcades aren't dead in Japan. The game is Japanese made, so that point is moot.

Fighting games tend to have multiple releases that either attempt to fix balance issues, bugs, some times add new systems, or add new characters. Why is that so horrible?? Its like a weird double standard...its ok for FPS games to get the patch/upgrade treatment but its frowned upon for fighters??

Yep:

Street Fighter IV: A New Beginning

Street Fighter IV: Next Battle

Shit, I'll take as many versions as they want to make.

I doubt it.

Part of the reason Arcades died over here is because of ALL THE MULTIPLE VERSIONS of the fighters and shit already, Capcom needs to show people that they don't need to do that shit. With the internet going in full force, and consoles with really good online functions, they can switch to online patching like everyone else.

Ever heard of Guilty Gear ? ^^
I think there'll be several different release...with some more chars, like they always did.
Time will tell though.

Guilty Gear is hardly aiming for mainstream success like SF4 presumably is though.

Sure, but Japan reacts differently from US / Europe when it comes to "updates".
Well, i think we will all agree that we would really like a perfect game coming right away...but is there really good chances that it happens ? Nah =/

Yeah, really. GG doesn't sell too impressivly in the U.S. because all the u.s. publishers the series has had has done nothing to bring attention to the series.

Not new releases thanks to DL updates. Thats what DOA4 has done (even though the game isnt that great).

100% agree. Download updates are better, cheaper, and faster.

Yeah...hopefully SF4 will be the next fighting game series to take advantage of downloadable content. There's no reason we should have to run to Gamestop to buy SF4 2nd Coming.
