Before coming to these forums and interacting with a bunch of you, I can honestly thought I was somewhat of a "pr0" when it came to fighting games, (3s in particular) when in reality I was your typical Scrub. I threw away Supers as soon as I got them, Fireball whored if I played with shoto'z, SBK spammed if I was Chun-li, and only used 2 out of 6 buttons; Fierce Kick/Punch. I also tried to end every match with a spectacular finish.
I realized that your only as good as your competition, simply because the people that I played were even shittier than me; The things I did over and over led me to actually win against them, hence making me think I was a "pr0". When I watched the infamous Umehara video that only increased my level of scrubbiness, I actually started practicing parries on Chun-li's SAII, and once accomplishing that I thought that I had reached some "Super saiyan level" of gameplay. (I like DBZ so fuck you! lol) Was I sadly mistaking! After a few months of coming on this site, listening to people's words of wisdom, reading older informative threads and what not, i've gotten much better. Shit, I Just got my 1st "S" Rank in the game the other day, while I know that isn't something worth wild to brag about as a person will always be more difficult than the cpu, its an accomplishment to me seeing that I Had mostly C's, F's, and E's lol. While I won't say I'm the next champ, I will say that i'm well on my way becoming one.
I just wanted to thank the entire SRK community for turning the lights on, taking the hood off my head, the blindfold off, and washing the mase outta my eyes, all that which prevented me from becoming a better player. I really appreciate it.
