Ali or Tyson?
Pele or Maradona?
Magic Johnson or Michael Jordan?
Never ending disputes.
In the 2d beat'em up field, the question would be:
Daigo or Ohnuki?
Everyone has his answer and the debate is endless.
Aside personal opinions, one fact is indisputable: Daigo has been the first japanese champion known all around the world and therefore his fame had trascended the human level.
In agreement or not, Daigo has become a legend.
Like a modern "arcade samurai", after becoming a master in his country, he travelled all over the world to show his infinite skills and to remind to the other players that Japan rules.
Since every community seems to have his symbol and the connected facts, I think it's time for the 2d beat'em up community to have his champion: Daigo Umehara.
There are many topics about Daigo that could be used to create the satirical facts.
First of all, the identification. As his main character does, Daigo is completely devoted to the fight: Daigo IS Ryu.
Other traits. His technical skills that seem unlimited. And of course his super human reflexes. His encyclopedic theorical knowledge of the games played that allows him to anticipate the moves of his opponents, just as he owned some kind of telephatic power.
And his personality too: despite his amazing abilities, a unique mix of shyness and humilty. But this happens until he sits and starts to play: then he changes, he becomes an ice block, more robot than human, an unstoppable virtual death machine.
His concentration is absolute, his nerves are made of steel, the victory is his only goal: one single mistake against him and the game is lost.
And the other players can never ever let down their guards, even if Daigo has no energy bar: even in a desperate situation, the japanese sensei can make unbelievable comebacks and winning impossible matches.
For all these reasons I believe that 2d beat'em up community needs the Daigo Umehara Facts.
The first fact is an imperative choice:
"Daigo can parry Chuck Norris roundhouse".
Now post your facts.
