With most 3s players using Kaillera to play this on their PC, will the Gametap version be used by anyone but the ultra casual crowd? I wonder how well it will play? Plus this does not support a online component. :wonder:

Story:

Street Fighter III: Third Strike -- the greatest fighting game hardly anyone played -- makes its way to GameTap on Dec. 20. To the many who know the fine, detailed, beyond-minutia intricacies of fighting games, SFIII: Third Strike represents the last great 2D fighter. GameTap has gotten hold of the Dreamcast version of the game, which means that both PC and Mac users will have access.

For those with specialty fighting sticks, GameTap supports a wide range of controllers and there's an official list available, but many more work that aren't listed. The game will not support online play because neither did the Dreamcast version. So check out SFIII: Third Strike and join fighter aficionados everywhere in enjoying a vintage treat.

People have been playing on P2P Kaillera for like, a million years already. AND it's the DC version on top of that? Good stuff, Gametap.

I'll check it out.

I've been basically keeping my Tap account for Typing of the Dead.

What's wrong with the DC version, asks the person who never used that version.

Not much of a 3rd Stirke player but I believe the DC version didn't have unblockbles...there is probably other things but i wouldn't know.

The timing is different, there are some combos that wont work and a bit harder to do the link

Is this tested, or is this just like the "DC Super Turbo isn't right"? Because we know how the ST claims finally ended up.

No. Unblockables refers to Aegis and Oro Super Booger shenanigans.

Urien/Oro unblockable bug is gone, certain combos don't work right. I recall hearing that during Genei-Jin, f+fierce does more damage than kara palm.

Well, as a 3S player that switches from arcade to console on a regular basis, I'm 100% certain that AC3S is faster than the arcade version. ( which, I actually kind of like)

So I wonder why the DC version then. I never saw the aegis antics as a bug...

i remember listening to Rockefeller's Podcast someone saying that, can't remember who, but it's true, there is input lag.

f+HP doing more damage than a palm was never true. The input lag seemed more like a placebo effect than anything else. MAME has input lag yet most people don't notice because they know they're playing the arcade version. Wouldn't mind some legit confirmation.

Honestly though, a port I bought in 2000... how much does a Gametap game cost?

I think the DC 3S has enough problems that input delay is irrelevant and a waste of NKI's time since there are better versions on more widely available and reliable consoles already.

the biggest issue with the DC version i remember is that its soooo fast its hard to hit confirm.

the dc version looks better and is the closest to arcade. when people say the AC version is better i think they mean its cheaper and they already have a ps2 :arazz:

So then...the DC's arranged music is slightly different than the PS2's? I always had that thought lingering in the back of my mind, but never thought about checking it out just to see. Doesn't matter though. I hate arranged music. They ruined Jazzy NYC.

DC version playing on a VGA monitor looked better than Xbox through component. By better, note that I mean sharper. You can see every brilliantly jagged edge on every sprite. In absolute, crystal clarity. I never had component cables for my ps2, so I can't compare it.

Someone tell them to use the PS2 version instead.
