In five months, I've risen through the rep ranks and gotten on the top page. But what I really care about was getting a match my first day on SRK. That's something that I'll remember for a long time.

All in all, 2007 was pretty shitty for me--but there were some good things. It was nice making an appearance at NEC seeing people I hadn't seen in a while. Here's to 2008 being a little better. It's nice to see peeps every now and again. And well of course...all hail Garrett and "dat Norton".

The debut of Season 2 of Boondocks was suprisingly amazing. And as much as people won't want to admit it Boondocks, at least Season2 is an anime. Studio MOI and Dong WOO (Korean studios) are freelancers that often work with Studio Pierrot, AIC, and other japanese companies. The show itself makes for a historical moment for African American-inspired visual entertainment with its always apparent fusion with hip-hop culture. It was nice to see it done on such a professional level. It's kinda funny at least to other animators or artists because you can still tell when the capita for the offshore-comopanies was low because 2nd rate animators did inbetweens so you see characters drawn weird in some eps--but that's to be expected and it happens in other anime titles. LeSean Thomas STILL hasn't sent my book yet...but maybe in 08, lol.

All in all, for the shit I had to put up with--I'm alive, not in jail, and I'm still moving forward, so that's what matters.

I'm just glad I'm done christmas shopping....

2007 was a good year for me overall. It was great meeting SRK members Abhi, Orochizoolander and Steve F in person this year. I think 2008 is going to be a much better year with Devil May Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, 3D Bionic Commando, Arcana Heart 2, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, KOF XII, the 3D Guilty Gear game (Oh snap Raven is in it now where's Fannie and The Man lol), the HD SF2 game and of course SF4. Yeah, I think of the future in terms of upcoming video games because everything else tends to disappoint here and there more, much more than games wind up doing. :rofl:

For me, this year was huge. It marked my return to competitive fighters (after moving and going 3 whole years without playing any at all... which actually helped me shed bad habbits). I went to my first tournaments this year that I did not run myself (Evo North and Evo and Seasons Beatings II), and these also marked my first trips to majors. Got to put a lot of faces with names I've known for the better part of a decade, and hopefully some of them know me now too.

I got play vs BAS in CvS2.
I got to become the champion of something, however small.
I got to qualify in ST, one of my favorite games, and play some of its best players.
I got to visit Vegas for the first time in my life. Hopefully not the last.
I got a smart phone that lets me troll the forums from work.
and I started real honest work on a video game of my own this year!

I met and reunited with so many cool people... Its good to be back.

- Went to my first tourney, the May'n Event (MI statewide), and actually did pretty respectably. Watching Rusteezy and VDO trash each other in the CvS2 finals was intense.

- Hung out with Ne0phyte on her birthday and mooched off of her free ice cream.

- The best part of the LegendsOfLore debacle was when he bragged about his fighting game prowess... then SNAAAKE showed up with the YouTube vids. Too funny.

- That all said, this year in SRK is dominated by the announcement of SF4. If you were there, you remember how it seemed like everything exploded at once: the fans, the fanboys, the excitement, the stupidity, the obsessing over every scant detail in every minor piece of news, the wallpapers, the speculations... good time to be an SF fan. Probably a bad time to be an SRK mod.

i'm going to hate on this year because not only did i get strep throat, but a week later an upper respiratory + sinus infection. i hadn't had strep since i was young as fuck and up until 07 i hadn't had an UPI or an SI... which fucking hurt like a bitch. sinus headaches so bad my ears hurt.

if it stopped there i wouldn't hold grudges like i do, but that shit was like the good ol 1,2 combo week after week (week 1 of feb strep, week 2 was that other shit). but that wasn't enough... it went from me never getting sick to getting owned. oh yeah i almost forgot to mention i got bronchitis - and i have asthma. i had never had bronchitis so i had no idea that it sucked, but then again the people who have asthma and get it are fucked. i was hitting the nebulizer ever 1.5 hours... which kept me imobile and so fucking weak i could barely get out of bed to hit the nebulizer again.

2007 marked the year I started taking competitive fighting games seriously, mainly due to my experiences at EVO North this year. In spite of a 2 hour drive in traffic with 2 tipped over semis and a red-neck that was holding up the toll booth lanes (because he only had 33 cents on him), I somehow made it there on time to experience all the EVO goodness that ensued. I met and talked with Dark Geese, Kiets, Just Ownin', and David Sirlin among others and cant wait for EVO 2008 to happen.

ST:HD Remix information started coming out this year (I'm still waiting to see how Cammy fares in this version... please help her out Sirlin!!!)

Oh yes, and hell freezing over with SF4 being announced :rofl:

2007 was pretty good for me. Hopefully not the best year I'll ever have but so far it's definitely the best one I've had.

Highlights:
- Going from 0 and 2 in every game at 2k6 to getting within top 25 in 3S and making it to semi finals (and soon after dying) in ST in 2k7. This is considering I was unable to qualify in either game multiple times (FRX, Evo East) before Evo Finals.

- Being introduced to the bubz clubs at Vegas. Epic times. Dollars were given. Plenty of Arctic Attacks.

- Realizing that relationships with women aren't that important to have.

- Finally deciding to go back to the gym at the end of the year.

- Playing DDR more than once the entire year.

- SFIV

- The Parry thread. 3rd Strike may be random but that doesn't stop everyone from liking parries or the game for that matter. Long term strategy? GTFO. 3S until the end of time.

Dissapointments:

- Still not having a car of my own

- Still bumming people for rides on the regular

- Still not committing to really working out like I should

- Still pwnt by foreign white women

- Still lazy as hell

I don't have much to add in form of links to nostalgic threads, but I just need to type out my thoughts for this site.

It's been some years since coming here. There have been many times when I just shake my head at something and then a some seconds later I'm chuckling at another post. The mood is usually light with some twisted pinches in random successions.

I enjoy the diversity of thought. Even if some of it seems to somehow be recycled from years past.

2007 has been a sort of blur but I can say this: I realized my blindness. Everything appears to have its place and role. This doesn't mean that location and position will remain concrete and limiting; but the progression of understanding throughout time is the key. At least for me.

And in some abstract way of being, SRK has added to that understanding. This place is mostly fun and a way to get in contact with those point of views that most people would otherwise never get a chance to read from. Even if it just scratches the surface of it all.
