View Full Version : Need Help Repairing Stick
Well, my Sanwa stick decided to stop working recently. Neither the buttons nor stick are responding. I know nothing at all about building sticks, but it seems the problem has to do with two silver prongs that were glued to the back of the PCB that have become unglued. I am assuming they are the power source for the stick as there is an LED light that used to light up before and that's not lighting up anymore.
So in order to get everything working back to normal, do I just glue these things to the back of the PCB like they were? Does it matter where they're placed? These prongs also move, so is it possible they have to moved to the side when they're glued back? I'm not exactly sure how I'm supposed to do this, so any help would be much appreciated. Here are a couple of pics of the inside of my stick. The bottom one shows the two silver prongs that I'm talking about.

Can you open one of these photos in MS Paint, circle the pin or "prong" that you are talking about and re-post the picture?
Also, Where in LA are you? There are tons of people in the area that can help.
edit:/ are you talking about the anolog stick "prongs"?

Yeah, I'm talking about the analog sticks. I circled them in the pic.
I'm in South L.A. Would gladly take this stick over to someone who actually knows what they're doing if someone is willing to lend a hand.

movement of the analog sticks would not cause an led light to go on or off. It looks like a DualShock pcb so there might be an "analog" button to be pressed.

besides the analog sticks are there any wires that have come loose?
You can plug it in to your PS2, load up a fighting game, 2 player with a reg controller in port 1.
Open the back of your stick, during the game, and mess with the pcb a little, wiggle the wires gently to see if any are loose or if you move them if your light comes back on.
Try that while we wait for someone from the Torrance/Lax area to step up an help out. :wgrin:

Thanks a lot for your help. I just noticed the grey wire in between the analog sticks has become loose and that seems to be the trouble. Can this be soldered back on or do I need to get a new PCB? The wires are really thin and close together, so it looks like something difficult to just solder.
