Quick Myspace question for the tech kids

Basically, when I go on myspace at my house its slow as shit. I have comcast cable internet and get download speeds of around 10 mbps which is pretty fast, but for some reason myspace is the only slow sight, everything else runs fast as shit. Now, I've gone on myspace at a friends house who has DSL and it runs fast as hell over there. Can anyone shed some light? Or do I just have to catch farts while I wait for the shit to load?

First let me say, nothing is wrong w/ your computer. Second, its myspace, its gonna be slow reguardless of what you do. Now difference between your friends DSL and your cable is speed and location. There might be a chance the DSL provider your friend has takes less "hops" to get to myspaces server, while your cable may take more.

If you really want to get all technical on it, when your @t your friends place, hit start, then run and type cmd. In the prompt type "tracert myspace.com" (without quotes) and hit enter. It will begin to show the servers that they are traveling through along w/ the time (in milliseconds) and the amount of hops. I just ran a traceroute and I get 15 hops and Im on cable and when I hit the myspace server I get 90ms of response aka SLOW (compared to the 14 hops @ 60ms for google.com). So try it @ your place and see what your getting and compare.

Like someone may have mentioned disable all your firewalls, and spyware programs and see if that speeds it up, if so then configure it to not block/hinder myspace from your computer. If the speeds are the same on the DSL and Cable during the traceroute then its your browser. 2 last things it could be if your on a router, or if theres simply a problem w/ one of the servers your company goes through to connect to myspace.

While a very lengthy explanation of possible outcomes, I only went to this extent because when I worked for a ISP for 3 years as a tech, I heard/seen this myspace question too many times... I hope your able to find something in here that can be of use to you. Goodluck

Thanks for the info. I tried that tracer and got 26 hops, but I don't know how to tell the ms part. Theres 3 columns for it so I don't know which one is the right one. I got 96 96 and 114 on the last one. So I'm guessing thats slow lol. Fuckin' myspace.
