View Full Version : Best solution for playing PSX backups on PS2
im wondering whats the best way for me to play my psx backups on a ps2
i have swap magic 3.5 and hdloader .08c
i've tried the method involving ulaunchelf back into ps2 browser but it doesnt seem to work on my model of ps2.
so im wondering whats the best possible solution for me to play xenogears/vagrant story without shelling out 100 bucks a piece?
i know of breaker pro and im ordering one but is there a better alternative?

This is supposed to be good:

Edit: Then again it appears to work best on Psx/PSOne. With PS2 it looks like you'd still have to still get the flip-lid, as its almost like a swap magic disc. That is, if you don't mind using a damn slide card.
yea i know about that.
its pretty much swap magic on a psx disc. i have a slide card so theres no worries there
but im looking for other solutions

Looks like you can't avoid the flip-lid mod then. It would be worth it and would also give you PS2 backup ability.
Edit: I'm out of ideas.
im trying to be cool and rational here dood.
synopsis
i have swap magic 3.5 and hdloader .08c
i have a slide card so theres no worries there
meaning ps2 backups are the least of my worries and i dont need to do the flip top mod
i want to know if theres a better or cheaper solution to buying a breaker pro
i already said that one of the solutions doesnt work on my ps2 version
also for fun
the breaker pro
you'd still need to do a swap trick on the psx
the classic trick was the toothpick in the opening bay to make the psx think it was still closed.
some shit never changes

I used the PS-X-Change disc, about the same as the Breaker Pro.
It came with a small spring that could easily be set in place, and afterwards made the PSX think it was always closed. A very simple yet effective way to make swapping discs a breeze.
