LMAO she just got taken in an ambulance by stretcher to the hospital. I don't know what happened but there were two ambulances, cop cars, and she get taken away in one. Not sure if she's genuinely hurt though. Hopefully K-Fed shot her.

I went to the hospital last night too (real talk) because I had chest tightness like a mothafucka. I waited 5 and a half hours in the ER just for them to tell me I had a viral infection, also known as a "cold", after an EKG and chest x-rays. One dose of ibuprofen later and they said I was good to go. But I digress..

Two differences between me and Britney:

1. I drove myself to the ER and

2. My friends gave a shit when they heard I was in the ER.

Every so often when I'm flipping through the channels after work, I think about how horrible Entertainment Tonight is. I haven't watched the show in years, but it seems like now at some point in EVERY EPISODE they mention Anna Nicole Smith. "LET'S SEE THE NEWEST PHOTOS OF BABY DANNY LYNN." It's fucking disgusting.

Why? The entire popular media spent what ended up being the last few years of Smith's life making fun of her for being a fat drunk. It was all thinly-veiled (if that) pointing and laughing. But now that she drugged herself to death and is gone, they have to pretend like they gave a SHIT about her. It's like if you saw some guy standing on train tracks every day waiting to inevitably be hit, and you pointed and laughed at him for being an idiot. And then when he got hit by a train you cried because it was a fucking TRAGEDY. Fuck you.

I bring this up, because I wonder if this all goes bad, like crazy bad, if people in the media will do the same thing with Britney. As it is, people don't make fun of Britney as much because she's not on camera, and you don't see highlight clips of her on her reality show like with Smith, being constantly under the influence. But basically anything you see about her carries the vibe of "LOOK AT MS. FAMOUS NOW. OH SHE WAS SO RICH AND BEAUTIFUL, FEEL GOOD BECAUSE NOW YOU ARE BETTER THAN HER."

So if she ODs or she gets in a drunk driving accident or whatever, I hope people either realize what childish schadenfraude loving shitbags they are, or be as indifferent as they seem to be now.

Because the fake sincerity makes me want to murder people.

From what I can tell it's mostly celebrity weddings/happenings and other shit like that, though they they cover movies/TV shows to validate the fact that they're gossiping about the stars. I don't even think they do movie reviews anymore.

Money talks and when it does it yells. K-Fed knows that "stepping up to the plate" in a situation like his while his ex is making a fool of herself will make him seem like the better parent. He's still leaching but he's being debonair about it.

I'm employed by one of Finland's biggest entertainment-centric medias, so I think I'm entitled to say a few words.

People like to think of the media as some sort of a massive scavenging entity that feeds off the misery and hardships of others. People like to think that we (the media) dance over corpses and try to sell you things we looted from them, that we have ninja photographers clinging to famous people's bathroom ceiling in an attempt to post their nudes all over the world. That we 'make and break' people and that we're so goddamn hypocritical, first hating and then placing a saint's mantle on the shoulders of the icons of past glamour. We are not a hive-mind, we are thousands of unique people. One reporter is sympathetic of Britney, one hates her guts. We are people and we have opinions that bleed into our creations.

We do not think of celebrities as people. We can't. We cannot be shocked when something horrible happens, not while we're getting paid. We facepalm and sigh when we see an another one of these "Britney did stupid shit" headlines pop up in our feeds and we square our jaws when we hear about a yet another school shooting. It's a job and we're going to report whatever happened, in a way that makes you want to check the article out on our website or buy the published product. We are employed by people who want money and could care less about the ethics behind making it. To make more money, we need more readers and to get more readers we need interesting material that makes you - the consumer - click on a link or grab that newspaper. It doesn't matter if you like the article or not, as long as you read it and discuss it. The fact this thread is up here is a sign of effective journalism.

I plead you not to put a stigma on the workers in the media. We aren't truly overjoyed when bad shit happens, we don't like to mock all the degenerated no-good celebrities - we just want to do our job properly. Alright, so we sometimes get by with some black humour, but it helps us do our job better. Demeaning the value of something tragic makes it easier to process as it doesn't feel as overwhelming. We often feel stressed when we get off work after a busy day, we sometimes need psychiatric help after dwelving into the life of a serial killer. We see the police photos of the mutilated bodies, we have to read through the confessions of murderers and rapists. We add the censor bars and we turn tragedy into entertainment. We chew the brutal shit for you and feed it to you in a way that sensationalizes and makes you able to shrug it off a bit easier. We find out the answers to your "Why"s and present them to you so your mind can find closure. I confess - we are parasitic in a way, we couldn't exist without you and your interest. But seeing how media is still fine and kicking, it would seem the world doesn't wish to reject it.

The media has a massively strong influence on making or breaking celebrities. A celebrity can do the exact same things normal working class people do, but have bigger pieces to pick up and have to go to further lengths to salvage their reputations that may be tarnished. Since they're in the spotlight so much, their industry can be forgiving but has a lower tolerance for making them (studio, label, management firm) look bad.

As readers and viewers we can only see the media as hypocrites because one day a celebrity is your darling because they're making your parasitic stronghold on their lives money but at the same time you can make or break their exposure to the world.

Us writers do not make the decisions of what gets reported and what to make gigs from. We don't make the call on wether something gets published or not. The people upstairs do.

As readers and viewers we can only see the media as hypocrites because one day a celebrity is your darling because they're making your parasitic stronghold on their lives money but at the same time you can make or break their exposure to the world.
Again, cash is milked off the subject as long as it sells. Not our decision.

It's just the "work mentality". Celebrities, criminals, accidents and catastrophes. You don't think about it, you just write about it. It's like how a nurse doesn't panic attack when a dismembered guy gets brought in. It's like how a cop has to shoot down a criminal without considering them a human being at that point. They simply can't afford it to be able to do their job, so they block out that human part of them that feels appalled. I am very compassionate and feel guilty after work, just not when I am on duty.

I could be a lawyer defending a guy I know killed his wife, but there's no proof. I could be an insurance health inspector denying a guy his treatment. I could be a scientist or an engineer inventing far more efficient weapons to kill other people with. I could be the guy injecting the lethal poison to administer death penalty to a convict.

Everyone has bad days, works hard if their job demands it and has their own problems. Most just don't get stigmatized as a heartless exploiters because of it.

In reply to TS's post, I usually avoid such garbage. However when children are involved I am a bit saddened and concerned because really, they don't have a choice if their lives are going to be fucked up by their parents. The sad thing is my concern is probably misdirected because those kids are probably far better taken care of by nannies and caretakers than most other non-celeb families with the exact same parentage problems.

I'd like Britney's life to be a trainwreck that most people can't stare away from. Instead of train cars though, it's white trash trailer homes.

That's already understood that people upstairs control the strings but that doesn't make it better. Cash is influencing the way you wish to indulge in the subject matter though. I worked in U.S. Army Journalism at a Division level so I too have experience in the working environment.

I am very compassionate and feel guilty after work, just not when I am on duty.I know the mentality but in the end you still have to realize that they are indeed people. Your examples still don't deny the fact that those individuals are still people. One is endangered (patient) and the other is a threat but they are still people just like you and I.

Most just don't get stigmatized as a heartless exploiters because of it.You also have to remember that your job is not like all the others just like all the others aren't like each other. Doctors are supposed to save lifes, police are supposed to protect, scientists are supposed to discover and invent things etc. When these people don't perform or do their jobs for the good of others then they get ridiculed too. So, don't feel like everyone is on your backs. You're the ones informing us since we can't be there ourselves, but take a step in the viewers shoes. We can't be naive to the fact that we're receiving second, third, fourth (and so on) rate information. You can't make like the media just presents facts w/o knowing full well there are embellishments and more times than never, fallacies, strewn all around for sensationalism. You guys have to make money and your audience wants to be informed but we're not gonna think of you as poor saints when you have cameras stuck in a persons face all day getting "the hot scoop" on their lives and expect sympathy if we feel you're hypocrites.

CarreauOverkill
01-04-2008, 05:39 AM
Ah, let me elaborate. I aknowledge that all individuals are people, just like me. I just can't think of them as such when I write about the tragedies that befall them on a daily basis. It's a psychological defense and as military you might know that when you're out in the battlefield, you're not thinking about a hostile's family. It might hit you later on, yes, but not when you're on duty.

Also, American media is way more aggressive than it is around here. In Finland, one can opt not to have their private life snooped on, yet we have our prime minister having a scandalous affair with a woman he met online and our celebrities sending horny text messages to our politicians. Most celebrities and public figures -love- the spotlight. Just look at some gossip site's archive on Spears, for one.

I'm just tired of getting shit for working in the media, as if it's my fault my superiors want to squeeze cash off the voyeristic wankers in the masses. Supply and demand, etc.

As a past victim of "the media" I say deal with it.

You have to make your green, I acknowledge that, but I know you (the media) will do whatever it takes to sell your story, including stretch the truth and exploit other peoples misery. Make your cash. You are entitled to, especially since people are paying for it, but the media (I guess that is you) will always be a parasite in my eyes.

A reporter asked to interview me and some other people for a story a few years back. She said it would be in the lifestyle section and she needed me for quotes.

She wrote the story and changed the focus and left me as the main target. It got put in the front page of the 4th largest newspaper of the country on a Sunday. Everything she said was true, but she intentionally twisted it to make me and everyone associated with me look like trash.

I spent a month trying to clear up what happened with EVERYONE who had a casual aquaintance with me. If you google my name that is the first thing to come up.

Nah, she gave it up to some trailer dude at 14. Probably named Clovis or something.

Best pseudonym I ever had. Clovis Leroy Jackson.

On that note, I think the only prescription for Britney's latest hospital venture is a reality TV series. Isn't about time in her career to make one? At least now it'll be funnier than her last attempt.

Thats real motha fuckin talk

She was hottest in "oops I did it again" in that red vinyl/leather suit.
Also very hot in "Hit me one more time" in that school girl outfit.

Nah man. Slave for you was were she was damn hot of the hots. I seriously won't understand any man who wouldn't want to fuck her after watching that vid. The body and everything was perfect. http://youtube.com/watch?v=QChrzTzWjz8

After watching that, the only thing you can think of now is the question, DAMN WTF HAPPENED BRITNEY?

Let's take bets. Who's going to have the more fucked up adult lives? Brits kids or Micheal Jackson's?

I rather pray for news involving MJ and Spears' kids. The LMAO potential is beyond.

At the end of the day, this only confirms K-Fed's genius. He is an inspiration to all men around the world.

@Slide from the rep: My Army MOS was Unit Supply for 4 years active and I was a PhotoJournalist in the Reserves for 1 year. I didn't even go to the Journalism school, I learned everything OTJ.

I avoided Iraq mainly because my primary MOS was 92Y for my entire military career including the Reserves (since I didn't go to Journalism school I never had a secondary). Even though I inevitably stayed in everyone's radar my whole career, up to Colonels during active duty to the Division General in the Reserves since I worked at Division, I just have a lucky survival aura surrounding me throwing up a cloud of ninja smoke whenever talk of war came my way.

Seriously, from trailer trash to projecting the image of a caring father and husband. Scary.

I think it's the constant paparrazi that follows her around 24/7 that helps drive her mental. Some of those paparrazi are pure scum. They put peoples lives at danger the way they drive and move around. If I had that many poeple following me, sleeping and sneaking around in my yard, I'd move to Texas where a shotgun can resolve all your intruder problems

I'm employed by one of Finland's biggest entertainment-centric medias, so I think I'm entitled to say a few words.

the only thing you're entitled to is a fat cock in your mouth. shut the fuck up.

quoted again for mad truth. except instead of anna nicole smith, i keep thinking of that futurama episode where the whole crew randomly jumps into the future and the news reports of teen idol some shit or other, "found dead in her bathtub." futurama would have to automatically be signed back on to air for the rest of human existence if britney really did eat shit and die in her own bathtub.

Wouldn't be surprising if she tried to kill herself.

She's been living a fairy tale and got bitch smacked by reality.
