Sup dawgs. I was gonna make a rap about this but I aint got the time.

I've been lookin for a job lately to get me outta this hood an shit. My homeboys uncle is the managar at some engineering firm around here. I talked to his uncle an he said he would lie for me if I put his company on my resume. I wrote that Im a customer service representative and a collections representative. I never did any of that shit before, but I figured how da fuck hard could it be to collect money? Shit, homeless people do it all the time. I was a customer service representative at Pizza Hut when I was 16 and all that meant is that I used to answer the damn phones and take pizza orders. Shit isnt too complicated.

I been sendin my resume out to all these companies and shit on the internet. My plan was to hustle some company into hiring me and becoming a collection agent or a customer service rep on the phone. Dosnt seem too hard, know what Im sayin? I have all these stories and shit I made up for an interview if they ask me shit.

So i got a call today askin if I was interested in a "Account Executive" position. i told them all I've done was Customer service and collections work. They said I seem to be qualified for the position, so Im like "Yea, I'm interested". I got an interview tommorrow.

The problem is I have no idea what da fuck an Account Exectutive is or does. I dont want to fuck up dis interview. If I can hustle my way into this cushy-ass company, I'd be set. I can't fuck this shit up. i figure some of y'all may have an idea what kinda work this is. What am I getting myself into. What can I do or say to ace this interview. I need y'alls help dawgs!!

Sometimes an "Account Executive" position is nothing more than a fancy title for collections. Basically you'll just be in charge of people accounts. You most likely will have to make calls to check up on payments, collect money and help answer questions that related to that account.

Kind of like when you pay a bill. The person behind the counter collects, handles changes you wish to make to your account and anything else account related. It should not a be an management type position.

An account executive is the person that maintains the relationships and is a point of contact, like collecting, asking about the status of things, etc. with a company's external clients, hence the "account".

Yea, but this is an actual question for once. Nothing really out of the norm from what I see regularly posted by other people who ask about job advice/positions.

If there isn't one already, there really should be a job/career advice thread.

I think somebody tried one before... went well for a few pages and fizzled out, though.

There have been some pretty successful career-specific ones also, good info but they burn out quick.

usually a sales rep

qft.

ever seen the office? jim and dwight are account executives.

usually. and from what i understand its usually a bottom of the ladder job in a corporation (aside from intern). though ive seen account executive positions go 60k +commission in the bay area. depends on what "account" relationships you're managing.

it's fancy name for a sales representative.

EDIT: nvm, been beat.

DOUBLE EDIT: wtf... you're gonna lie about being a collector in the past? i don't know you as a person but i don't think you'd cut it for the job. even if you somehow get past the interviews, they will quickly depose you after seeing that you don't know crap.
