It's sad that this had to happen in the place that I live and grew up in. A sane person just doesn't do that. I dunno what to say except that I hope that fucker wasn't released out of any psychiatric ward or that facility's going to have a LOT of explaining to do. And by explaining I mean resignations and criminal indictments.

He took a neighbor's child walking, threw the kid off the overpass, crippled a state for hours, and walked away from the overpass like he did nothing wrong. He walked away drinking soda and smoking a cig while witnesses tried to stop him from fleeing the scene.

Knowing how shitty our justice system is, he will get protection by the laws and possibly get a good lawyer or a public defender. If they plead insanity then he will get off easily and not even get life in prison for throwing the toddler off the overpass. Or he'll just plead guilty and be locked up in a mental institution which will never work for someone like him.

But who knows what happened at the time he took the child away from the house and at the time he threw the kid off. Was he aware of his actions at that time and was he able to distinguish right and wrong? Let's hope the prosecutors get a good case against this fool and lock this bitch up for life.

Since Hawaii doesn't have a death penalty, locking the person up for life would be second best. He would get his in prison. I'm sure a lot of the inmates would definitely beat the shit out of this fucker like there's no tomorrow.

I would rather just torture this bitch for life since there's no death penalty although in cases like this, capital punishment should be considered. Why lock a crazy guy like this up in already overcrowded prisons? Just end this fucker's life and suffering already.

I feel for the family that lost their child and I feel damn sorry for the two drivers who accidentally ran over that child. I would feel traumatized and scarred for the rest of my life knowing that I ended a kid's life like that. :(

Just to let you folks know how bad traffic was when they closed the freeway, it took me almost two hours to travel three miles to get to work as I was just done with class. What a fucked up 48 hours Hawaii has had. First we get pedestrian accidents and then we get some 300+ pound guy chasing his ex-girlfriend down and beat the shit out of the girl with a rifle finally killing her, and then we get this shit. Amazing what one person can do to cripple a state but to see events like this happen in Hawaii of all places.......DAMN!

I'd hate to be the public defender or the attorney that would have to defend this bitch. I would be totally against it. Sadly they would likely have to choose a public defender because Higa and his father were recently kicked out of their relatives house and have no known address. In no way anyone would pro bono such a child killer like this motherfucker.

The parents of the child have been found and last I checked (at least three hours after the incident), HPD was informing them about the status of their child.

A friend of mine who is an officer (joined the force about a year ago) was at the scene of the crime and he said that it was probably one of the most gruesome things he has ever scene. It just feels so awful knowing what happened to the kid.

What's interesting is that local police had custody of the kid only to hand it over to his guardian (boyfriend of his mother...he wasn't the baby's daddy). The guy then left his house with his girlfriend (supposedly to go out shopping) and left the kid under his grandparents watch. The thing is that the grandparents didn't know they left and didn't know that they were supposed to watch the kid. That was when Higa took the kid away. And we know what happened then....:shake:

It seems like the parents of the toddler were known to neglect their child. Reports state that the toddler was spotted multiple times by himself outside of the house and across the street with no one supervising the child. Yesterday, the child was neglected twice by the male parent.
