First, I should probably tell you that my controller port was fused so I searched online for a fix, and found if you solder a 10 ohm resistor in F1's place on the controller board, it should work good as new, so I did it and it did work... However, I now have a new problem, but I have no clue if it is the resistor I put in, or just a problem with the stick I bought. Anyways, here is the story...

I recently bought a used MAS stick with dual connections (PS2/DC) and was sorta bummed out when I got home and my DC's controller ports weren't working... So after I did searched online and was told a 10 ohm resistor in place of F1 would work, I did it. And now all my controllers work perfectly, except for one problem. If I plug in a controller and a VMU in one of the ports, then plug in the MAS stick in one of the other ports and turn on the dreamcast, the VMU makes a constant beeping noise. It is like the controller is being plugged and unplugged the whole time (can't move it or anything). Also, when I take out the stick, everything goes back to normal and I can use the controller. This also onlly happens if a VMU is in one of the controllers. If I am playing without a VMU (I don't have one of those regular memory cards, so I can't check how it would work with that) the controllers work in each port, even with the stick plugged in. Do any of you have an idea as to what is happening? I tried this with each of my VMU's (3 of them) and each of them does this if the stick is plugged in with a controller that has it in...

You should not use a resistor, thats a myth a see too often on forums. The resistor looks almost like the fuse you should use. (pico fuse or something i think they are called), do some googeling and you will find out.

So is the resistor the problem then?

I could probably pick up a Pico Fuse from The Source today and install it tomorrow. The thing is, I've heard stories about the Dreamcast's controller ports getting blown alot because of 3rd party controllers. Is there any way to fix this? Perhaps get a fuse with higher ohms then the orginal fuse? Would that work in the end?

Ohms is resistance, that is what you don't want.
Probably things ain't working right cause they ain't got enough juice caused by said resistor:p

You could get a higher rated fuse, i have read alot of people has done this and haven't got any problem.

Some people just bridge the points with some cable, but you shouldn't do this if you care for your dreamcast.

As i said, do some googeling, there are tons of information out there.

Edit: I always shut my dreamcast off if i change controllers or vmu's to avoid blowing the fuse
