I collection my joysticks
- Happ P360, custom box
- Seimitsu LS-32 modding on TEKKEN 4 Hori
- JFL T8-Y, custom box "Holic XXX"
- Seimitsu LS-40-01 modding on Soul Calbiur II Hori
- Seimitsu LS-40-01, custom box "King of Fighter XI"
- Sanwa JLW-TM-8 Ball Handle, custom box "Sega Saturn"
- Seimitsu LS30, original NEO-GEO "old style" joystick
I never try this Sanwa Flash. I know that the stick don't have standard microswitchs. just Happ P360. Who own a Sanwa Flash?
I heard someone said," Hori made Tekken 6 coming new joystick using a Sanwa Flash. :lovin:

Well, the main attraction to the Sanwa flash is that it's an optical stick instead of using microswitches. It makes no clicking noise, and I'm sure there's other benefits, but I don't really know the technical advantages.

I read "07-08 Sanwa Denshi Game's Parts Catalog" but not have Sanwa Flash on there. just curious.
I wonder......

They stopped making them. It's a really rare joystick. I think Sanwa flashes run about $200 US or something like that.

Sanwa Flash stick Sanwa JLHS-8Y FLASH. optical sanwa stick. No clickers, it's been discontinued.

Was there any reason in particular for them stopping production of them?

Was there any reason in particular for them stopping production of them?
They would have needed to upgrade their warehouses and production buildings to meet new regulatory standards on awesome containment. Alas, they decided to simply downscale their production so that the awesome levels dropped to an 'acceptable' amount.

I think Sanwa had a falling out with their provider of the FLASH PCBs.
Either way, tapping +5v for optical goodness just isn't worth it.

I bet it had more to do with reliability and lifespan than anything else. Flash boards are running with the LEDs on every second the machine is on. Microswitches wont die for millions of clicks, but Flashes will die after a matter of a (guessing) a few thousand hours, played or not. As an arcade owner, you can choose to use switches will only die after you've made a ton of money from plays, or flashes which will die even on the unused machine. Oh, and the flashes are spendier. Pretty easy choice really.

I read history forum on SRK. That’s terribly story I though JLHS-8Y FLASH is infamous and pricey.
Sanwa JLF is identical as Sanwa Flash, if without a micro-switches. More likely.
Sanwa Flash is eight time than price Sanwa JLF.
I very interestly....
I want to know How much is Sanwa Flash original price ?? I guess ...$40

The Sanwa Flash seems to be overrated as without the microswitch resistance, it feels too loose and Sanwa JLFs are already pretty loose. This may be because I have never used the actual Flash, only the ASCII copies.
gl0ry
02-08-2008, 03:31 PM
I've never used one before, but i always assumed the resistance would be either the same, or stiffer. since it's optic you don't want the stick to be wobbling when it goes back to neutral.

here's a better question, which is more rare and coveted sanwa flash or Wico P360.
the sanwa flash seems to be the most likely but just about every stick builder (except me & Opips) seems to have some kind of black market supply. But the Wico P360 seems damn near extinct.

here's a better question, which is more rare and coveted sanwa flash or Wico P360.
I have amassed a sizeable collection of wico leafswitch joysticks, ball tops, grommets and restrictors. They are not of the P360 variety but they are indeed NOS wico parts that are no longer in production.

Thanks coming for information about Sanwa Flash.
I'll skipping this SRK who is sale it more likely expensive. I hope, in future. I keep looking a lower price by Sanwa Flash or Any manufactory make new a joystick with Sanwa Flash.

The way you typed looked very familiar. I took ASL classes for 2 years and a semester in college. I didn't know they use ASL in Canada (Wouldn't they use French, even though French SL and ASL are similar.)
Anyways written ASL isn't the same as English, so that's why it sounds a little different. They state the subject first and then the the description, also words in ASL are sometimes used for other words.

Sorry for not getting back to people. I was in London from the 8th until the 18th then I've been sick in bed until today (although I'm still sick just not in bed at the moment).
Unfortunately, I'm not looking to tell any of my Flashes. Sorry!

Haha, I was considering getting a case from you a while back. Ever since I moved, my lack of space has COMPLETELY halted all my building and modding. : ( But at this point I stopped playing any fighting games (or games in general for that matter) years ago. That being said, I'm sure at some point I'll buy a case or complete stick from you since I appreciate your woodworking skills.
I'm jealous that you still get to have fun building in your nice shop while I'm stuck with no more tools in my stupid condo...DAMN REAL LIFE!

JLHS (Flash) was not made anymore because the sensors on it was not made by the manufacturer anymore so Sanwa had to end production, it has nothing to do with about beeing not popular I have gotten the answers from Sanwa themselves on this.

Wasn't gonna post this until later, but I still have a mint Sanwa Flash with all the accessories (flash dust cover, 5 pin and 3 pin harness, "Flash" sticker, etc.). I kept delaying building my stick and currently have no desire to play competitively or finish the stick (procrastination ftw). Anyways, I'm gonna sell it for sure when I'm come back home to the states.

Toodles
04-20-2008, 06:50 PM
About the only way it could 'break', other than being stepped on, is if one of the LED's burned out. Use a video camera or digital camera to record it with power; you should see the LEDs like they lit because the cameras can see IR even though we cant. Find the one not lit, desolder it, and solder in a replacement.
