competition stick hands down bro. i actually like the original stick it comes with its called a super stick. the only downfall is that some people like to feel their corners on stick and with the super u cant do that it more of a p360 wana b.

comp hands down doh. ultimate is super garbage

you mean the stick the sf anniv comes with? i think its horrible, so much motion. i think its reffered to as extra space(?) dashing is like doing taebo or somethin.

thanks for the advice

Are you sure those were supers and not Wico 360s as Wico 360s usually use Super handles? Also, Supers tend to wear down quickly IMO

yea im pretty sure, i used to fixed them for the arcade. i think arcade pcbs are better than console for some reason, i havent played on a super joystick on console.

The original stick that comes in a SF Anniversary stick is by no means a Happ Super.

ok here i go to back some info up.

the STOCK SF stick is a clone of a super... its a shitty clone and almost never works. also alot of the time its MOUNTED crooked.

ulitmates have a nasty square feeling to them and it gets nastier over time. though the switches are mounted well but its just that feeling that feels like junk.

competition sticks are good out of the box. but they way the switches are mounted with these tabs on the side is a bad design over time say if you bang hard or hold a long time the tabs bend a little and can make you start missing diagonal blocks when you think your blocking because the square actuator just barely isnt touching one side.

SUPER sticks are by far the best happ stick becuase they use a circular actuator and hit levered switches which almost never miss. these sticks also last a really long time.

P360s there are a few.

there are the REALLY old wico 360s that have super tops.
those are fine.

there are also STILL wicos that have competition handles. those are the best.
FYI if you dont know what one of those looks like heres a picture of mine.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v654/Ne0M3gA/p360stick/p360customharness.jpg

as you can see it doesnt say happ on the base like the newer ones. you can even get a newer one and it has a WICO PCB.

just newer ones have a 25% chance of being defective if its a HAPP guts inside.

so theres my rant if you want a better stick SUPER or competition is the choice unless you can find a old p360

This is kind of random but I just found this sweet ebay auction for 4 Wico 360s and 2 additional wico bases that seem to be the ones you have in your stick. They are untested but even if only 1 of them works then it is still a sweet deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-4-WICO-360-Optical-Joysticks_W0QQitemZ280198287527QQihZ018QQcategoryZ 13718QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Those are Happ revision 1's aka the first changes Happ made to the p360 after buying out Wico (circular base with wico written on it, wico pcb). The one in the pic above is a rev 2 (no name on the base, wico pcb). Rev 3 (happ on base) and up is where they got shitty since happ changed the pcb/diodes and got sloppy with the actuators.

The rev 1 and 2s are actually as good as the Wico360s (square base ones). You can't even tell the difference if you swap the handles and springs. I had a wico360 a while back and the diodes on one side died out after about 2 years of playing. My rev1 and 2s still work fine after 6 years.

Still, I wouldnt bid much on that auction. They look very used and the guy supposedly cant test them.

Is it possible to put in a Competition handle in a Happ Super?

I too like the supers, I feel they have a shorter bat length then the comps, and also offer a more fluid circular motion then the comp. Although the supers might not last as long as the comps, if most people tried the supers, they probably would perfer it over the comps...no doubt.

Thanks for the info. I was not going to bid on them anyway as I use Sanwa/Seimitsu stuff now. I also feel the need to try out a Happ Super (I have not used one since the arcades died).

Personally, I like the Super. The clone I have now in my SFAC has worked quite well, and I'd imagine the real thing would be even better.

I'd also like to add that after having had some experience with the Competition stick outside a product that blows (see the X-Arcade), I can say it too works well.

However, I prefer the firmer spring in the Super clone, and so I think my ideal one would be a Competition base, with the Super's handle and its spring. I'd give up the actual stick on the Super before its spring, though, should that not be doable.

From what I've seen, it LOOKS like you should be abe to do what you described.

And on what the other posters've said, the Ultimate looks like anything but.

It is but not without modifying the shaft. Check out:

Nope, that was the case with the older Competition sticks, right now HAPP is manufacturing their own competitions and those are pure junk (the ones with the bigger/black actuator)

The P360 was originally made by Wlco and HAPP fucked thoese ones up as well when Wico went out of business using cheaper materials (specially the internal bearing)

How would Omron microswitches (the ones with the levers that Kowal put in the Eurojoystick/Competition) work in the Happ Super?

Happ Competition! Its great.

Don't bother or think about the others, as far as american-made sticks go, the competition is the best available.

While we're on the subject of parts, Convex competition buttons are also a must-have.
