In that same article or somewhere in ryu1999's post it's mentioned theres an embargo on any release of the concept artwork/trailer until capcom officially releases it in the coming weeks so the only way SRK will get to see it before then is if someone used their cellphone camera or something ar the actual event.

Now, of course the first thing I was about to whine about was...it doesn't look like it's going to be 2-D. But, some of those effects in that trailer were pretty nice...Hmm, will Nokato actually play a 3-D fighting game? It looks like he just might. We'll have to see, but its looking on the up and up....


The Ikeno-esque brush strokes are pretty nice. A part of me is sad that its not "2-D" but we have yet to see footage of the game so there might be 2-D sentiments in its gameplay. I thought I would totally scoff at the trailer but I didn't, in fact I thought it was pretty neat. To me it looked like they tried to embody Ikeno's art in the models. I think I'm willing to give this game a chance--even if it happens to be in 3-D.

The game I believe will NOT be 3D. If you are fimiliar with games like Rumble Fish or the new KOF13 coming out 2008 they are cell shaded games with 2d gameplay. So SF4 is probably going to have a cell shaded look.

A link is posted. I've never, TRULY, been able to say, "I couldn't believe it." Until now. The trailer, at first seemed a bit lackluster, but the more I watch it, the more i love it. It seriously evokes the notion of Fighting Art. All the paint effects are brilliant. I especially love when Ken lands from the Shoryu. If you've ever dropped water colors from a brush into a clean glass of water, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I'm actually looking forward to this game being in 3D cuz while there are a few competent 3D fighters like tekken or SC they don't compare to games like GG, ST, 3S n marvel so i hope capcom can make sf4 the first badass 3D fighter! Though in my mind i can't even picture how u can capture the fun and depth of 2D fighters on 3D but i'm sure capcom will deliver.


Am i the only 1 wanting this game to be 2D but with 3D characters/backgrounds? considering the power of 360/ps3 i can't wait to see what the game actually looks like but i hope they don't make it TOO REALISTIC remember finalfight streetwise? that game looked worse then it played!

I think I noticed that Ken's karate gi isn't ripped/tattered at the shoulders. Or at least not that much. I always thought it would make sense that his gi wouldn't be as tattered as Ryu's. For the most part, Ken's gi has been as ripped as Ryu's in the various SF incarnations.

The coloring style of the teaser made me think alittle of the film 300. With the strong emphasis of the red over subdued backgrounds.

It seriously evokes the notion of Fighting Art. All the paint effects are brilliant. I especially love when Ken lands from the Shoryu. If you've ever dropped water colors from a brush into a clean glass of water, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I think he meant game play.

Things that might be implemented, based on the video

1. run
2. lots of chain strings.
(The guy who worked on Onimusha and Rome gameplay mechanics is working on this game, probably gonna be combo crazy)
3. strings into throws
4. animated tech throw escapes
5. Super dash attack or custom (blue mist behind Ryu)?
6. Back dash escape? Maybe the new "parry", where it takes strict timing to advoid the attack?
7. Ken's akuma style dive kick (air qcf+k), but with a shadow effect, EX attack?
8. Alpha like Counter attacks. Double counters as well?

Friends of mine thought that as well, but since they bump fists at the beginning of the trailer, I don't think that's the case. But I could be wrong.

They weren't bumping fists really, more like colliding punches. Plus Ken's eyes are yellow, that mofo is evil. Ryu wasn't holding back with those punches or with that Lvl. 5 fireball too.

Edit: At 0:52 of the trailer, it really looks like Ken parries Ryu's kick, although the lack of a follow up attack might mean you can parry but not attack after.

I dont understand the reason for feeling unsettled. He really has the right to not solidly answer any of the questions anybody asks him about SFIV. It should be something that is experienced when it is ready...not understood before the game is shown to the world. The guy even said you can simply look at the trailer and understand where they are going. Greanted...he also said that it would be tough if possible at all but the point is he doesn't even need to answer anyone's questions for them to figure out where the game is going. The trailer already is already throwing out clues that you can put together that will make sense later on (or if you guess right before anything official comes out). You can't create hype if you tell people that Ryu's gonna have 3 new specials and you can slightly move in and out the background before any actual game footage even comes out.
