From day 1 Ono has said that they will be including a lot of classic SF2 characters in this game. He has even said that he doesn't want to disappoint fans who might see lots of old characters, but not their favorite. Given this, it's practically guaranteed that there will be MORE old characters. You think they would add the two SF2 bosses without adding the others? Maybe Bison is dead, who knows, but Claw will almost certainly be coming back.

Plenty of you disagree with this decision, and you're entitled to your opinion. But you have been heard at this point. And FFS please stop acting surprised by all of this -- Ono has been very up front about what they are trying to do with this game.

Let's wait for the final roster before flipping out, mmmm? If we end up with Abel, C.Viper, and 16 old characters then yeah that would suck. But I have no idea how many new characters they will add and neither do you.

The word "wanker" should be incorporated into SF4. Maybe in someone's win quote. Is this your way of hinting you want Dudley?

The problem isn't so much the returning character but, the returning character + identical move lists. Most all of the classic world warriors are exactly the same as their SFII counterparts with the exception of Chun Li and Ken who are mostly like they were in 3S. Either way the game needs to feel new. We need some new moves for those characters or at least new takes on the moves.

I don't mind the old characters returning and Ono himself said he had planned for more female fighters and so far we have Chun and C.Viper so I expect more characters and perhaps some of them being "new" female fighters, be dope if Karin made it in the game.

SRK will always find a reason to bitch, like that ex-girlfriend that would get mad at you for not washing the dishes, then get mad at you for going to wash the dishes for not "wanting" to wash the dishes.

It's like the tides or the changing of the seasons, let it be.

Can;t wait for them to confirm Claw, Dictator, Cammy, and Akuma. ^_^ There's one more new female coming for sure though.

Correct.

In other games, that had sequential titles, they at least give returning characters some new stuff. I pretty much expect they'll do the same with SF4, but so far, we've yet to see it.:sad:

Well, Guile has an overhead now, so that's new, regardless of how stupid it is.

I don't understand why people bitch about returning characters in a SF game. Why should SF4 be a total departure from the past when there are tons of other fighting games out there that are already totally different than SF? Will you only try something new if Capcom spoon feeds it to you?

I think you know the answer to that is yes.

If I wanted to play Street Fighter II, I would play Street Fighter II.
It irks me to see Capcom dismiss archives of characters only to put the most overrated and overused bunch in time and time again.

Secondly, Capcom have Daigo Ikeno working on their team. If I was him i would feel like I was at a comicon drawing pre-existing work over and over again just to have it signed.

P.S. The most upsetting thing about this is the people who want to play Street Fighter II will just continue playing Street Figher II.
There are more reasons than the characters to why they play that game.

P.S.S. Why does someone with an opposing view have to be accused of bitching?

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW OLD MOVES

Seriously...NOTHING makes people happy anymore. SF is trying to attract casualfags as well as tourneyfags. Ultracombos ARE NEW FUCKING MOVES retards Fuck...I mean Did this same shit happen when SF3: NG came out? I mean Ryu/Ken/Chun have changed only slightly move-wise throught the series...

To say that the classic world warriors haven't evolved in various forms over subsequent incarnations of Street Fighter is retarded. To say that keep a move list the same as older games in a series the EXACT SAME right down the the normals is retarded. To try and qualify a new super (only slight variations of what the characters supers are ANYWAY) something new and different that makes the character fresh is retarded. So that begs the question....are you retarded?

Ryu - from one version of the same series (II) to another Ryu got new normals. In Alpha he got new a new normal and several altered in appearance. In the III series his sweep is drastically altered animation, his hurricane kick gained an arc and he gained a new special

Ken - gained all his spiffy kicks later on in II. And other similar to Ryu along the way. Capcom's main focus was on his kicks I guess but gained punch target chain

Chun Li - her ducking move that sends her flying to hit an opponent on the oppsite side that she started on has had a couple incarnations. MANY normals have been added, got a new special move in III series. SBK looks BEAUTIFUL in III animation wise.

Why did I bother to put all that? Well because this time, it seems...Capcom doesn't want to add ANYTHING to the old characters. They look and feel exactly the same. That just doesn't seem right to me.

Wow, it almost sounds like you haven't even seen or played the game!

But then posting about the inadequacy of move list that you don't know and the feel of characters you haven't played would just be silly, right? Since we know nobody on the internet ever complains about things without knowing the score, there must be some other explanation.

So with that said, are you telling me that the normals the World Warriors are using aren't directly from Street Fighter II, and there are other moves besides EXs and Ultras that have visual differences?

Ok..

By now I'm wondering how many characters they want to put in this new SF. If they put all the old chars of SF2 and other old chars such as Sakura, Akuma, Cammy (I'm quite sure they'll add her in the cast) and others from SF3 we reach a big set of chars where there is no more space for new ones (only a few in my opinion), neither for their characterization nor possible interest in them. I don't know if you get what I mean :wonder:

And then I think some of the old characters could be missed (E.Honda, Guile, Blanka, Balrog just because of their endings in SF2). But anyway we will see when the game is ready.

What do you mean by "no more space" ?
They could change the select screen to be able to fit 500 chars if they had to.
They're making the game, remember ?

Ya ya I know :D What I meant if there are too many old characters maybe the people are not very interested in the newest ones... but... well... it depends on what kind of players we will have, players of old times or who actually don't know anything about SF (and know everything about Tekken and Virtua Fighters).

Ok..

Actually, as you can see in the vids, Guile and Chun at least have had a few normals changed...Chun has a new jump kick that points almost straight down. One of the reviews said that Guile has an overhead...Ken's normals are based on 3s, not SF2...in the tokyo beta test Gief's green hand has enormous range now...the priority of Honda's specials has completely changed....should I go on?

Your "retort" just proved Seth's point exactly!
