How many brand new characters do you think they need to put in the game in order for you to be satisfied that it doesn't feel like a complete re-hash?. I love seeing the SF2 stuff re-imagined, but I'm also eager to see new things. I think I would be satisfied with 6 brand new characters. 4 would not be enough. Since Ono said the char select screen has to be balanced I'm assuming they have to come in 2's.

The way i feel is: The more SF2 characters that they add, the more they need to add of new characters and crossover characters (from alpha from 3rdstrike, w/e)... For instance, if they had just the original 8, then i would expect at least 8 other non-sf2 characters, maybe 4 brand new 4 crossovers. [side note: how awesome would it be to have sakura with makoto's qcf+p move as her chargeable saving attack?].
Anyway, i voted for 6 brand new chars. I would love to have 6 new chars and 4 crossovers. Or even 5 new and 5 crossovers...
On that note, so far im really pleased with the quality of C.Viper and Abel. Its always quality over quantity for me. However, i just feel like since they keep adding all these sf2 chars it would be nice to have at least equal amount of new and crossover characters. 10 sf2 chars and only 2 new chars, 0 crossovers... It hardly seems fair to the people who want sf4 to be somewhat different! Ono hasn't said that SF4 isn't just a remake of SF2. He has said that it is based off of it, and they are going back to what SF2 was in terms of gameplay and style, but he has also mentioned countless times that there will be additions of new characters and he even wants to please the alpha and 3rdstrike fans too.
I just hope he's a man of his word.

I dont really care about how many, but I am more concerned with who they are putting in SF4.
This game is starting to turn into SF2 3-D, or even worse, the MK4 of SF.
I have faith Capcom will get it right on SF4, even if it takes 2, 3 or even 4 revisions (SF4: Fourth Strike, lol)

Just based on what I've read in other threads thus far, you'd probably be better off changing the thread title to the following:
How many old characters should be removed from SF4 to make you happy?
Personally, I don't understand the hate, especially since the final roster hasn't even been revealed yet

Capcom please fire OnoI hope Capcom makes Ono their president and head of all major projects, just to piss you off.
Anyway, I know it's a lot to hope for, but a 1:1 ratio of old to new characters would be sweet. Originally, I was thinking eight old characters (the World Warriors) and eight new, but it looks like we're getting more old characters yet.

I really dont mind the SF2 characters as long as they add 3s or Alpha characters. So far its looking too good thus my current frustration with Ono. What really bugs me is they didnt even redesign or added new costumes to the current roster. Capcom is just playing it too safe.

They need at least as many new as many old.
SF4 is feeling like when SF2 updated to SSF2T in the sense that it's the same game, but a couple new characters. So yes, SF4 is basically SF2 in 3d.
The Alpha and SF3 series didn't feel old simply because of the cast. They had way more new characters than old characters making the game feel new. The fighting systems just added some more new feeling ontop of a already new feeling.

I dont care if they are new characters or old characters the roster just need to be bigger in general. I mean 3s has 20 and A3 had about 30+. I mean compared to Tekken and KOF series which have huge character rosters if would be nice to see them release a game with atleast more than 15 characters.

the MK4 of SF.
Man, I can't wait to see what Ryu's plasma sword looks like. As long as Ken's Lightning Mace isn't too powerful.
But in all seriousness, I would rather have more new characters than old. I know there are ALOT of requests for ST characters and I respect that, but as it's been said a thousand times, I don't want to play Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo Hyper EX 3d/2d Championship explosion vs. Street Fighter 2: World Warriors of New Challengers Challenging the Third Strike New Age of Heroes.
I want a Legitimate SF4.

Capcom please fire (ban) Celtic777.
I think there should be aprox. 50% of new characters and 50% of returning characters.
For the arcade version I would like to see the entire Street Fighter II Turbo roost + Cammy and Akuma and between 10 and 14 new characters. In total, around 25 characters.
For the console version, more new characters and returning ones like the others from SSFIIT, and someone from the SFA and SFIII games. Some of them in the retail game, and some others through downloadable content. And maybe someone from Final Fight and other Capcom Games (Rival Schools, please).

I would preffer 60% old and 40% new, I feel more comfortable with the devil i know than the devil I don't know.
;4871524']i'm totally high.
Lol me too...
I hope AT LEAST the ratio is 1:1 ST:non-super turbo.
Alex/Dudley/Guy whatever would count as a new character in my book.
I would preffer 60% old and 40% new, I feel more comfortable with the devil i know than the devil I don't know.
Especially if that devil drinks tea and reads newspapers with boxing gloves

My suggestion is to bring some of the characters back from the Street Fighter on NES.

there's a chance this game will have less than 10 characters?
that's a joke right?

well it looks like all the World Warriors are returning, so if there were at least 6 to 10 new characters would nice. I think 10 might be too much so I wouldn't be disspointing with something like 4 new selectables and 2 secret characters maybe.

Kind of funny how everyone bitches about the new characters yet want more. Bitches.
4-6 new characters is enough. I want the majority of the SF2 roster who were left out of SF3 for retarded reasons.

id rather have a few from each series (ST, 3S, Alpha) and then new characters. That would make it different and new enough because you'd have the old, you'd have the older, and oldest, and then new blood that is just as good.

Id be happy with 3 new total. So one more. We already got the Original 8 so what does it even matter. :arazz:

If he wants to please 3rd Strike fans then they should include the Parry ALONG with the already mentioned use of EXing.

Yes Indeed they are playing it too safe. How about the 2D graphics Street Fighter is known for? How about highly stylized Guilty Gear-ish 2D graphics and animation that is as good or rivals SFIII 3rd Strike. Unless Capcom wants to do that with SFIII 4th Coming. :lovin:
