I'm seriously concerned about the sluggish speed of dhalsims kick drills in SF4, if they keep them as slow as they are and keep ken and ryu as powerful as they are in 3s, then i'm afraid he's gonna suck, and I wont be playing the game, as he is my favorite char in just about every 1vs1 street fighter game. I know many of you dont agree, but I have a gut feeling that there will be about 5 characters dominating this game. I really hope I'm not forced to pick ken or something just to be competitive. Anyone else feel this game will be broken?
going by the standard of previous SFs, 5 characters dominating isn't broken, at all

Could it be possible for Dhalsim to be good in areas other than drill kicks to make him balanced? Or does he have to have the same pros as his ST version for you to play the game?

You dont understand, in the vid it's slow as molasses, he will get sodomized by shoryukens and other anti airs all day, since you have so much time to respond.

Play a character because you like them, not because they're top tier

And, wait until you play the game, or at least until the game is released, to say it is broken!:woot:

You don't want Dhalsim to be too strong trust me. When a zoning character is top tier, it makes the pace of the game extremely gay at high levels. 'Sim was fucking ridiculous in A3.

The best is when people who play against their parents get worried that their favourite character is ranked "low" in a tier list that surfaces months before the game is released and reconsider their interest in it. Wrong on so many levels.

No, you don't understand. He wasn't saying the drill kicks are still good or bad, but that Dhalsim might have other good moves this time around.

He doesnt really need drill kicks.
edit: play them cause you like them, not cause they're top

They are getting pro players to help balance out SF II T HD Remix, so I don't see why they wouldn't be getting the same help with SFIV. The game will probably be more balanced than previous installments, but there will always be some dominating characters. Just don't expect to have one character as good as Yun in 3s and one character as bad as Sean in 3s.

Keep in mind, nobody has years of experience with the SF4 engine like people do with ST, so while they have general knowledge of fighting games, you can't really apply the same expertise like you could to ST.

Ok, so let me break this down.
1.You want Dhalsim's Drill Kick to be stupidly fast.
2.If he isn't amazing you're going change character even though he's been your "favorite char in just about every 1vs1 street fighter game."
3.You have a "gut feeling" that there will be about "5 characters dominating this game."
Even though the game is still pre-production, not every character has been shown and there are no high level players breaking the game right now.
4.You really hope your "not forced to pick ken or something just to be competitive."
Even though Dhalsim has been your "favorite char in just about every 1vs1 street fighter game."
5.You want everyone to agree with your conjecturable theory fighting.
Why does you username date you 2001?

I heard that his Yoga Fire is unblockable in SF4. Also, his new move is the Yoga Win. If you pull off that crazy motion....YOU WIN!
But seriously...there are a couple of videos out from the first real play test. The speed of the game is different than the last time we saw it. It's the first time we've seen most of these characters in the game. Expect them to change and tweak things a lot before it gets released.

Don't worry, Capcom wouldn't make Dhalsim so obviously imbalancedly poor. They will balace the characters out as much as they can. Even if Dhalsim isn't one of the dominating characters, you can still play with him if you want, you can still win. Look at Yamazaki using Twelve in SFIII:3S

Yeah because relying on fireball/HK makes you so much more intelligent than someone playing a shoto.

but apparently you lack the mental capacity to conceive that dhalsim could be good without a fast drill?

Exactly. his teleport is fast as fuck from what I've seen. Wait one more week, forget this and then make another shitty sf4 thread about something else they are doing. THE GAME ISN'T FINISHED!:woot:

didn't Dhalsim's teleports get sped up in the SF4 ?
Shaving off frames from the teleports to advantage Dhalsim is a big + if you ask me.
You see an opponent start up an Ultra with the long-ass cinematic, then you go: "okay I will teleport LOL"
