So I was watching Oprah the other day (Yes I was watching Oprah) at work, and Drew Barrymore was on that particular show. She donated 1,000,000 dollars to the World Food Program, and it really made me think to myself that I could possibly help as well.

Since I have been deployed in Africa, it's very easy to walk right outside of our camp and see poverty and disease first-hand.

If I can convince even one person to donate some money, I will feel like I contributed.

"This food will not only feed bodies, but also minds, and will help transform lives."

Hopefully I have motivated someone to help. :karate:

From what i've heard some thing like 90% of money donated to africa ends up in various warlords hands.

Hmm, well Oprah said that around 96% of the donated money goes DIRECTLY to food distribution... I'm pretty sure that the WFP doesn't put large amounts of money into warlord hands.

I don't think any charity tries to fund the warlords. That it just ends up there. I'm not apposed to donating, and i actually try to if i can afford it, because i got a lot of bad kharma built up against that needs to be worked off.

It's all good. Everyone makes their own choices. I donated in hopes that it really will find a dutiful cause. If not, at least I tried. :wonder:
