Hi,
This is James Goddard from CrunchTime Games. I am working on something cool and need immediate help on a project. I need fluent speakers/writers to translate (volenteer) Japanese and Korean asap. Please send a message to me and I will tell you more from there. Please only write if you A) have the time to do it right, B) are willing to sign an NDA.

Check out my website (in my signature below) so you know this is a legit thing- it is me, I really work on games- and that you will see your work & credited name in a actual console game (this is not some random mod that may never happen) in 2008.

Thanks,

bump- I am still looking for these 2 translation positions. You will get you name credited in a soon to be released console game + receive other cools stuff. This is legit, check my credentials at www.djamesgoddard.com.

And more. I have plenty of swag going back to the 1st E3 & beyond. But whoever gets each of these slots will be compensated with credit in game, a free copy (download) of the game and the swag can be discussed (I have these awesome crunchtime skull logo shirts).

So we translate for hours and hours so we get our name at the end of a credits screen no one will read, a copy of the game that we could probably find pirated shortly after release, AND A FUCKING T SHIRT?!?!?!

SIGN ME UP, BUDDY!

This is funny. Too bad you cannot pirate this type of game. I have plenty of other volenteers on this project already-- SOME people appreciate an opportunity to help out and be part of a production game (I have 6 other languages covered). I figured this being a fighting game community I would come for help to the people that I have made games for for so many years. No sweat. Thanks to anyone who likes the idea, write me. Everyone else, flame on. :looney:

I'm just saying, if you are going to market this game and produce it and whatnot, it would make sense to pay people who work for you, especially if you will be making money off this game. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind spending time (and I have before) for something that is free and benefits the community... the way you are presenting it though, it sounds like you are trying to get around paying employees.

doing something arduous for free with no real compensation of any sort is an "opportunity" get a fucking clue, please. if you really want to get shit translated for free you'd be better off asking people that are trying to learn the languages in question than native speakers.

SOME people have volunteered translations and given help to others on this board. Give SRK members some credit, there are some really intelligent and worthy people on this board. They are also very helpful and willing to help the community. Having a boastful website saying that you worked on x projects, designed the overly stereotypical DeeJay, and giving "chances" to people that haven't even finished school or have any experience doesn't make you a saint. You want to go indie and don't have the funding to back yourself up so it's a way to get cheap talent. Nothing wrong with that, do what you need to do to follow your dreams. Just don't expect the SRK community to be stupid and think you're doing them a huge favour. They're helping YOU!

I laughed at Ducky's response because it's fucking funny. I don't begrudge you and I hope your business goes well, I just think you need to have a little more respect for those you are soliciting to help you with your project. You look tough as nails on your blog/website whatever and good for you that you appear to have credentials. But no-one here owes you any favours so don't be all high and mighty when you're asking for help.

Why the fuck are some of you guys hating? If you don't want to translate for him, then why bother even commenting?
Some people will use this as an opportunity, especially when there are guys out there actively translating shitty games (NamcoXCapcom). At least they can put this on their resume.
