View Full Version : What's the best way to deal with text message spam?

So yeah, I'm getting a number of spam text messages these days (not sure why, since I don't really give out my number. I'm guessing they just hit random numbers until they found one that works). I've already signed up for the Do-Not-Call Registry, complained to the FCC, and signed up the senders for other spam lists. But this is not stopping the texts.
So what can/should I do?

Have you tried calling your wireless provider and asking them what they can do? They can stop your phone from receiving text messages all together. They might even be able to block numbers from messaging you.
Is it one phone number, or always a different one?

If the same offender, your provider should handle the situation seriously.
They can choose to simple block the number or take more severe actions if the customers are seriously impacted.

It's always from a different email address. No number is provided.
I'm planning to call Verizon about this anyway.

Never reply to email address text messages. It can add you to a list and they start charging you for shit.

if it's from a cell number that you don't recognize, throw it up on the personal section of yourcityname.craigslist.org
and if it's an email address, sign it up for GHey prons or bestiality prons.
:/
good luck.
