I don't know why there isn't a thread for this game, so here's one now.
I just picked up my copy today, but I haven't played it yet (demo is off the chain, though). The first thing I noticed when I opened the box is the PS3 ad inside (). It's a nice one, though. And, on the back of the manual, there's another ad for God of War 3, "coming soon" to PS3. Good times.

:wonder: Got mine today too. Played it through the first area and it was fantastic. Can't wait to jump on this again tomorrow after work. :bluu: Stoopid job and my stoopid bedtime. Yeah, the God of War coming soon PS3 ad got me pumped... dood.

I did..........and it's awesome.
I agree with some reviews out there that say that the analog stick gets annoying during context scenarios (took me 9 tries to please the ladies), and there are load times, but it's minimal.
I'll try not to spoil it, but I am at the point right after I beat the boss............again.
Good times a' coming.......

This game is supposed to be the fucking bomb, and the PSP's greatest hit ever. If I had one I'd pick it up definitely.

Great Quote.

It took about 3 times for me to get the rotation speed fast enough to get past it. I swear I was rotating fast too. Regardless, I was having enough fun that it didn't bother me... dood.

I love GoW but I haven't bought any of the games yet. I get them as gifts or hand me downs. Time to trick someone into getting me this one though. Plus I want to catch up on my gaming backlog, but trust me, it will get played.

Game is sweet. I just.
Lit up the three horses of Helios, and now I'm about to go wherever it is I'm supposed to go after that.
Eos reminds me of this girl I know. :bluu:

This will be the first God of War game I play; I'm picking mine up either tommorrow or Saturday.

You should probably play GoW1 first. There are potential spoilers for some of the big plot points of that one.

Thanks for the heads up, but I haven't had a PS2 for almost six months.
I'm more interested in the action element as opposed to the story.
Again, thanks though.

Really stoked, Kick ass game!
Now I only really have Final Fantasy Crisis core to look forward to

Mine was back-ordered for a few days at Best Buy, despite the fact that I pre-ordered it. It shipped today though so I'm hoping I'll have it for the weekend.

So is anyone else floored by the graphics? It's like better than PS2 even, somehow.

I think this is the first GoW game whose secondary weapon I actually like.

I abuse parry attacks alot.........shame on me.
My only concern with this game that it has now raised my expectations for GoW 3 more.........

I abuse L+hold Square a lot with the secondary weapon. That move is SO good (and that weapon is probably the first one I prefer over the Blades of Chaos).

Yeah, so how the hell do I beat the Basilisk on God Mode? I just can't seem to do enough damage to move it backward, and it kills you in two hits.
So yeah. What the fuck.

Sounds like God Mode has been beefed up to be more ridiculous than GoW2s God Mode. If thats the case, I might be passing on 100% completion on this one as doing it for GoW2 was just boring, not challenging.
Geese Pants
03-07-2008, 06:14 AM
If that's the case, then I won't bother with God Mode..............titan mode in GoW2 was just wrong.

I finished everything in 2, but I remember the hardest setting was just boring, not challenging. Square, square, roll away, repeat...you couldn't do shit cause every single combo would get interupted, and god forbid you took a single hit. I didn't feel like it was a challenge, it was just boring due to the style of play needed to survive.

I picked it up but havent played it yet.

So I heard (from GameFAQs that) the Basilisk's bite attacks are actually blockable. I've yet to confirm this, but it seems like that would make things a lot easier.

I know, I couldn't STAND Titan Mode. Shit took a good 20-25 hours to beat that annoying shit. It was the cheap kind of hard, where they take away most of your money, make the enemies have resistant to hit stun so its square, square, triangle the whole fucking game, and don't get me started on the bosses. I hated each and every one, especially THESEUS. If Chains of Olympus is like that, I'm just not doing it. I like being challenged, but only when its fun.
Septimus Prime
03-07-2008, 05:07 PM
:u: So far, it isn't. I'm still getting just as many orbs as before, and smaller enemies, from what I can tell, still have hitstun. They don't even do that much damage.
But the bigger guys and the bosses are problematic, though.
So I heard (from GameFAQs that) the Basilisk's bite attacks are actually blockable. I've yet to confirm this, but it seems like that would make things a lot easier.
They are brockable and countering immediately after is the easiest way to win. So if there's no fire - brock away. :wonder:

Sometime between before 1 and before 2.

I'm a little stuck; the area where you pull the wall to create two large steps, which leads to a horse statue.....and then...?

Pull out the steps, then go to the left of the steps to find the hidden room.
I just beat it, fucking awesome for a PSP game. Zeus Gauntlet is BAD ASS. Going through again.

I was stuck there for a few minutes myself, then my GoW1 mentality kicked in and I remembered the water and statue puzzle room.

Truth..........the Gauntlet saved me alot of times, espacially when the big monsters gang up on me.
And when I maxed it out, the last boss couldn't stand a chance against me...............after 7 tries.
:arazz:
I think I'll go through hard mode, then challanges, then call it a game.

I must say, I'm enjoying GoW so far.
I had a basic idea of what to expect, having never played, but it still alot of fun.
It's making me more and more excited for the Devil May Cry PSP title.

anyone got some tips on how to beat the 2nd treasure challenge of defeating 20 fire sword guys without getting hit? I've been trying that for hours now, off and on, and the lowest I've gotten is 14 remaining to kill. THanks
Septimus Prime

I haven't beaten that one myself, but I read somewhere to do a charged punch L+Square from one side of the map, then roll all the way to the other side and repeat.

I beat all the Challenges, for number 2 just whore the Gauntlet with Jump L1+triangle.

I beat the game with everything first try, now there's no real reason to play it any further. Also the challenges are pretty stupid, good game but once it's beat, it's beat.

I did the jump, Triangle+L Trigger for 2nd challenge.........had to roll occasionally.
However I end up starting the 3rd challenge w/ half of my health............what gives?

You rapidly lose health during that challenge.

Beating God mode on Chains of Olympus awards Kratos with a Mime outfit. With this, all of his weapons and magic become invisible, so it is like he truly is a cartoon-style mime. And it is hilariously awesome. Best secret outfit ever, and totally worth finishing God mode for.
