what if...

what if you were able to use the focus attack to escape during the midst of a super art..or the ultra or even an ex move (only doable if focus meter has reached 100%) allowing you to land and counter attack/combo... sort of like an ultimate block and escape animation either in air, on ground, or in grasp.

Would you like..or no like?

Focus attacks work as pre-emptive ACs. They need to stay that way.

Would only work against 1 hit moves, as far as I can tell.

Same here. Let the attacker have his reward for landing the move.

Not to mention that if that were to be true (I really can't picture them doing that), you could just wait for your opponent to fire his super so you'd escape it with focus and get a free combo afterwards.

They're what ACs and parries should've been. :)

You'd obviously have to do it before the super landed, so you aren't taking any reward away from landing a move that didn't land. It's like counter-activates in cvs2, aka why you almost never see random activates A vs A when they both have full meter. You either combo into the cc/super or confirm they are in a position where it can't be blown through on reaction, like as a punish.

There's also the possibility that supers just go through focus invulnerability for free.

It sounds like you want focus attacks to double as bursts. I like having complex universal systems, but it seems that with all their other uses, they really don't need to do this as well.

Like a quasi-dodge?
No way.

It seems to function more like a 1-hit autoguard, like those SNK characters or CvS2 Eagle's counter.

Did you just make a what if topic?

Yes...yes you did. You even labeled it as "what-if".

It's ok, but not as good as What If... Venom had possessed the Punisher?

No, like the super ignores the invincibility and hits the focus attacker out of the focus attack.
